This role will be responsible for the architecture of the platform as well as providing senior leadership to the engineering team.\nPatron Technology is a remote-friendly company. This position is open to any candidate in North America. Additionally, we have engineering teams in Pittsburgh, Tampa, Montreal and Dallas.\nMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES\n* Application and System architecture\n* Tooling selection\n* Project planning and supervision of several engineers\n* Code reviews\n* Hands-on application development\n* Operation and support of the production AWS environment\n\n\nOther Responsibilities / Requirements\n* Participating in the standard ceremonies of our Agile SDLC (Standups, Grooming, Sprint Planning, and Ideation) organization. \n* Ensuring quality standards for code/markup.\n* Working with other stakeholders to determine optimal solutions to technical and business problems.\n* Guiding engineering team to help develop feature requirements and deliver said requirements in a timely, technically competent, and maintainable manner.\n* Writing maintainable, testable code and appropriate tests to prove correctness.\n* Providing 3rd tier support as needed.\n* Mentoring and training new engineers to best practices & company standards\n\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nCandidates must possess the following:\n* 3+ years as a senior engineer on a microservice application stack\n* Several years of professional development experience using Go and/or Node.js\n* Experience integrating with third party services and designing robust, graceful degradation during high demand events or system outage scenarios\n* 3 years of experience as a team lead with responsibility for supervising several engineers\n* Familiarity with a container (Docker) deployment.\n* Direct experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) product offerings, especially with VPC, ECS/Fargate, RDS, and ElastiCache\n* Experience with implementing devops frameworks such as Ansible, Terraform or Chef \n* Several years of experience with front-end engineering using a framework such as Angular, React or Svelte.\n\n\nBONUS POINTS! \n* Designing for optimal mobile web experiences (bandwidth limitations, spotty connectivity)\n* Experience with streaming technologies such as RTMP, HLS and WebRTC\n\n\nMEASURING SUCCESS\n* Maintain high application quality: Ensure quality of products meets a high standard and minimize defects and code refactoring. Quantity and severity of bugs reported after deployment will serve as a KPI.\n* Mentoring and Collaboration: Provide mentorship to other Engineering resources, including educating on software development and architecture best practices. Collaborate effectively with stakeholders via the Agile development methodology to accurately estimate Sprint work.\n* Adhere to Security By Design principles and secure coding practices. \nAbout the Position:\n\nWe are a seeking a proven technical leader who has experience building and running highly autonomous teams building ground-breaking software at tremendous speeds. You will be a blend of architect, coach, and visionary that’s comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment. This position will grow the existing team and take on ownership of the full-stack from DevOps and infrastructure to our online platform to mobile development. You will know how to find and recruit exceptional employees and will have experience releasing new features quickly, in agile environment, and will know how to use great external contractors and experts to flex when needed.\n\nYou will lead a team of engineers, internal and external, making day-to-day design decisions and managing team development through usage of scrum best practices. You will design a development process that works and leads to fast product iterations that work across multiple continents for some of the most challenging environmental conditions. In the pat, you will have been an uber-efficient engineer and have years of battle scars to prove it.\n\nPrimary Responsibilities:\n\n\n* Build, manage, and grow EFL’s engineering team to develop new products in features in an agile environment\n\n* Chart the course for what technologies and frameworks EFL uses in infrastructure, mobile, and web components of the stack.\n\n* Work with EFL Executive Team and Product Managers to define and translate business and roadmap priorities into requirements and associated resource plans\n\n* Guide and lead the effort to translate requirements into functionality delivery through scoping, design, implementation, testing, and final delivery\n\n* Build prototypes or POCs as needed to accelerate development\n\n* Ability to cover all aspects of SaaS delivery, including documentation, delivery, customer escalations, etc.\n\n* Mentor team members to achieve success and professional goals\n\n\n\n\nLocation: We have offices in Boston and Lima, Peru.
