\nThe Role\n\nThe Backend Software Engineer is the technologist responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our core Federated GraphQL APIs and backend micro services for all Go products and services.\nThe ideal candidate:\n\n\n* \nLoves to build maintainable APIs for client teams and work.\n\n\n* \nHas real-world experience designing and deploying Microservices and Federated GraphQL Schemas\n\n\n* \nHas experienced all stages of a software product lifecycle; from building an early alpha, to rapidly iterating measuring and learning, and on past large scale adoption.\n\n\n* \nHas a good understanding of Docker, managed Container Services, and the role they play in a microservices architecture.\n\n\n* \nHas experience designing solutions that run on AWS, Functions and ECS\n\n\n* \nSees value in Unit Testing and striving for high code coverage\n\n\n* \nEnjoys mentoring junior developers and setting team coding standards\n\n\n* \nTakes downtime personally and is willing to respond to and troubleshoot production outages in real-time.\n\n\n\n\nYou must have professional, production experience in:\n\n\n* \nNode.js as TypeScript\n\n\n* \nMongoDB via Mongoose\n\n\n* \nSQL (AWS PostgreSQL a bonus!)\n\n\n* \nGraphQL using Apollo Server\n\n\n* \nMicroservices architecture and deployments\n\n\n* \nAWS (e.g. S3, EC2, Lambda, etc)\n\n\n* \nDocker\n\n\n* \nAn understanding of DevOps and Infrastructure as Code\n\n\n\n\nAs we are a startup, we are still building toward our ultimate vision, and are still building out our technical infrastructure. You will be one of a handful of engineers with a hand in charting the course! Planned upcoming technologies include:\n\n\n* \nPostgres or similar SQL database for data science & analytics-type work.\n\n\n* \nRedis or similar caching solution for common data reads (and some writes).\n\n\n* \nPub/Sub or similar messaging/queueing system for processing asynchronous out-of-request tasks.\n\n\n* \nFederated GraphQL API Gateway\n\n\n\n\nTools we use every day:\n\n\n* \nGitlab, and Jira for source control, PRs, and task & issue management\n\n\n* \nConfluence for Product and Feature requirements\n\n\n* \nSlack for team communications\n\n\n* \nGoogle Workspace for file storage, email, etc\n\n\n\n\nBonus experience includes:\n\n\n* \nExperience in recommendation or machine learning systems\n\n\n* \nContainer services such as Docker and Kubernetes\n\n\n* \nProduction availability & performance monitoring\n\n\n* \nAdvanced Mongo Database experience with performance tuning\n\n\n* \nExperience with Database search and indexing solutions\n\n\n\n\nThe role requires at least five years of experience on a team building production client-server backend software deployments. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
