Virtual Pricing Director is hiring a full-stack engineer to help implement our new legal tech web application - contributing across all aspects of our app, its data, architecture and deployment.\n\nWeโre a well-funded scaleup (no VC money) building the future of legal pricing, for small and large law firms alike. Our workflow and data management software means an end to overcharging clients, arbitrary pricing, and other bad practices that have existed for years.\n\nOur two directors are recognised world authorities in this domain, and bring a number of signed firms ready to use our software. We're off to a healthy start, busy preparing to deploy to one of the world's largest legal teams.\n\nThe work is varied, challenging, and we place equal emphasis on front and back-end. Because of the need to deliver scheduled features, fix bugs, and respond to the needs of newly onboarded firms, weโre looking for someone who relishes lots of hands-on work, contributing across the whole stack. \n\nOur app is powered by React, with Apollo Client for its GraphQL queries and mutations. It leverages Ant Design as the UI framework, upon which we build a mixture of UI components; some simple, some complex. On the back-end, we're using PostgreSQL as our RDS, TypeORM as our ORM, TypeGraphQL to define the API schema, and Apollo Server to deliver the GraphQL.\n\nBoth our front and back ends are coded in TypeScript. We believe in end-to-end testing and have therefore used Playwright to handle an automated E2E test script which runs before deployments.\n\nYou'll join us as we begin to roll out our product to some of the top law firms, and in time to help define, design and build the next two roadmapped modules, and to grow from there.\n\n\n**Upcoming projects across the team**\n\n* Building out a suite of new modules, from designing the underlying business logic and data models, to designing and implementing the application, front-ends and infrastructure\n* Standardising on common approaches that uphold modern enterprise architecture standards\n* New data visualisation and BI reporting solutions\n* Designing and implementing new APIs and data integration pipelines\n* Helping automate quality, CI/CD, and shaping a DevOps approach\n* Contributing to our development culture, methods, and tooling\n* Optionally; supporting dialogue with customers - discovery, requirements, technical solution design, implementation \n\n\n\n**We're looking for**\n\n* Someone with full-stack engineering abilities that span the application, front-end, data and infrastructure considerations\n* A good technical understanding of software engineering principles \n* Technology agnostic, and adept with TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL and GraphQL\n* An understanding of the principles of serverless applications, preferably based around AWS\n* Proficient with SQL, and web service design\n* An interest in upholding data security principles and helping choose and implement effective application architectures\n* Ability to unpack complex requirements, to uphold security of sensitive data and to conform to best practices\n* A collaborative, adaptable, user-centred approach\n\n\n**You may also bring - or like to gain - skills around**\n\nAnt Design | TypeORM | TypeGraphQL | Apollo Client | Apollo Server | Java | CircleCI | Heroku | Auth0 | AWS | TDD | Agile | Domain-driven design (DDD) | data modelling | integration patterns\n\n**Salary and benefits**\n\n* ยฃ70,000 - ยฃ90,000 - reviewed at six months - we're keeping an open mind\n* Share scheme for formative team members (once proven value to the business)\n* 25 days holiday, plus public holidays and a day for your birthday\n* Family-friendly and flexible culture - tell us what you need\n* Personal development plan that you can shape, with budget for related training/certifications\n\n**About us**\n\nVirtual Pricing Director has developed groundbreaking software to assist law firms to understand and price their fees, be that ยฃ10k or ยฃ10m. We are the authority for legal pricing and our software has attracted the attention of the largest firms in numerous countries, with a number of partnerships and customers signed. \nWe're now strengthening our fully-remote development team - you'll be our fourth engineering colleague, with more to follow - offering a culture where you will work under your own initiative towards common goals. It's an opportunity to be a formative team member, joining a friendly flat-structured team that operates without ego, and to grow and improve together. \nVirtual Pricing Director is a privately-owned venture, founded by Burcher Jennings LLP and Validatum. https://www.virtualpricingdirector.com/\n\n**Location:** fully remote, within the UK only\n\n**Please note, we are only considering candidates that hold an established right to work in the UK**\n \n\nPlease mention the word **LOVES** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMg==). Building a simple online video editor isnโt always so simple, so you might work on WebGL, API, DevOps or Architecture stuff. You don't need to know it all, but someone who is not scared of a challenge\n- Be able to contribute to the culture of engineering excellence by writing better documentation, teaching more junior teammates or improving processes around engineering in general\n- Experience working with video is a bonus\n\n\n \n\nPlease mention the word **EXQUISITELY** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMg==). \nJoining the Live Games Team\n\nWe’re focused on one mission: to make our successful MMO games technologically fit for 2021 and beyond. Our teams pull off daring and courageous things, like writing our own transpiler to migrate hundreds of thousands of lines of code from Flash to TypeScript - and then rolling that out to a global, highly engaged player base, successfully. No-one has done this before us, definitely not at this scale.\n\nWe’ve moved almost all of our critical infrastructure to AWS; we run Lambda functions written in node.js in production, while also feeding our huge Java monolith that just kept growing over the years. We integrate React and Vue apps into our legacy Flash games; we mix and match and build for the future, while respecting our past.\n\nClearly this isn’t for everyone. It’s for the daring, the creative, the out-of-the-box-thinkers, the experienced, the multi-linguists, the curious, the getting-sh*-done-ers. If you think you’re one of them, you may have found your new home. Come join us.\n\nThe opportunity\n\n\n* You will be sharing the ownership of the technical design and implementation of new and existing Web-based features that run on millions of desktop and mobile devices all over the world, 24/7/365; specifically, you will work on the ongoing development of our engaging in-game shop experience.\n\n* Working with a small and focused team, you establish and implement practices and processes that guarantee a consistently high level of quality (linting, testing, deployment).\n\n* Automate all the things! We have made a lot of headway into automating major parts of build/deployment/monitoring/alerting/recovery, but we still need more. Our end goal is having fully autonomous systems, you – together with current DevOps engineers – will help us get there, faster!\n\n\n\n\nYour qualifications\n\n\n* You have a strong software engineering background and are experienced writing real, end-user facing production code with actual load and uptime requirements. Experience here means heavy involvement in designing the solution and an active role coding it.\n\n* You’re capable of provisioning an entire functioning system from start to finish, using configuration management tools\n\n* You bring demonstrated experience working with REST or GraphQL APIs\n\n* Several years of hands-on experience with frontend development, including popular frameworks like Vue.js and/or React (we use Vue), and, of course, HTML and CSS\n\n* Excellent understanding of and experience with async and Promises and other advanced JavaScript concepts\n\n* Experience developing and shipping plugins for frontend platforms (eg Trello PowerUps) is a plus\n\n* Experience creating and shipping plugin framework is a very strong plus\n\n\n\n\nWhy join us\n\n\n* You join a supportive team in a pragmatic, yet challenging environment, with short communication processes and flat hierarchies, perfect for growing your skills.\n\n* You will be working with multidisciplinary colleagues from the entire production lifecycle, developing and operating two very successful free-to-play games on mobile and web.\n\n* The team has many years of experience with live operations and a long-term strategy that keeps the players' excitement and engagement in mind.\n\n* Yet we are not set in our ways. We value employee contribution and you can have a real impact on the way we develop and operate our games.\n\n* While it's critical to keep our games running 24/7, we take work-life balance very seriously: We're proud to say that crunch-time is a very rare exception.\n\n\n\n\nDuring this difficult time of the Covid-19 pandemic, the safety of our employees and everyone else is of utmost importance to us which is why we switched to a solely virtual recruiting process for the time being. We are still hiring and happy to receive your application in English (cover letter, CV, references, degree)!\n\n#Stayhome #Stayhealthy\n\nYour contact person for this job offer is Juliane Voigtländer.\n\nGoodgame Studios is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage and support diversity and welcome all qualified applications. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

# How do you apply?\n\nThis job post has been closed by the poster, which means they probably have enough applicants now. Please do not apply.
Radical candor? More like radical gander, right?\n\nOk, enough goose puns for the moment, but now that weโve got your attention, allow us to tell you more about this company called GooseChase and why might you want to join us!\n\nYou love an app that makes you smile, right? Well our product is a lot of fun. And even though our origins are that of a humble scavenger hunt app, weโve now evolved (hatched?) into a super-flexible platform used by millions to create all sorts of experiences! Itโs all the best parts of a scavenger hunt, with a delightful twist to keep you coming back for more.\n\nWith all that fun and flexibility, weโve been growing like crazy. For teachers in the classroom, weโre the new โTV cartโ, aka the learning tool that students legitimately look forward to. For todayโs workplaces, virtual or otherwise, we help the team connect with each other to the point where they want to come into (or logon) to work. And for local cities and towns, we bring families together in a way that truly builds a sense of community.\n\nBut weโre also unique in that we donโt have any investors and, as a result, are able to put our people before profit. Seriously. We have a profit sharing program specifically for this reason! It also means we grow at the pace we want to and put the time into making this the best possible place to work. When we do something, itโs because itโs the best thing for our team and our customers, no matter what. Weโve actually been fully remote from the very beginning, because we wanted our people to have the flexibility to live wherever and however they wanted!\n\n**So what exactly is this job?**\n\nAs a full-stack engineer, youโll have the opportunity to architect the tools and systems that serve as the connective tissue for our infrastructure, to work seamlessly within our front-end and back-end systems, and to help enable all of our teams to move faster and provide our customers with even more exciting experiences. This includes acting as a liaison between the product team and others such as sales, customer experience, and operations.\n\nFrom a day to day perspective, youโll be a core member of our cross-functional product development team, focused on developing cross-system integrations, admin tools, automated marketing systems, testing platforms, and more. Within our product team, there are no silos or artificial barriers, meaning youโll be working closely with other engineers and designers. Whatever will help give our customers the best experience possible!\n\nWhile by no means an exhaustive list, here are some of the things a successful candidate will have experience in:\n\n* Modern front-end web technologies such as Webpack, Express.js, and React.js\n* Using server side rendering alongside single page applications\n* Server / scripting technologies such as Node.js and Python\n* Core web technologies - HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript\n* Relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL\n* Distributed computing systems such as RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, Redis\n* Open source instrumentation systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry\n* Version control - e.g. Git, Mercurial, SVN\n* DevOps technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm\n* Managing and deploying services on the public cloud - e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure\n* CI/CD technologies such as CircleCI and Jenkins\n\nLooking at how we work, our methodologies are:\n* Continuous integration using CircleCI to empower developer autonomy and shorten development cycles\n* Agile, with two week sprint cycles\n* Daily async check-ins - stay connected to the team, but without zombie standups\n* Project management in Asana, with our โofficeโ taking place on Slack & Zoom - we have a very strong gif game\n\n**How do you know if this might be for you?**\n\nAt GooseChase youโll be working alongside a team of highly motivated, world-class engineers with tons of opportunities for learning, growth, and mentorship. Our product team works closely together, so we are extremely selective about who we hire to ensure the calibre of our engineering talent remains high. Be prepared to bring your โAโ game!\n\nWe understand that relevant experience comes in all shapes and sizes and the ability to do the job is all that matters. With that in mind, we arenโt going to put together a generic list of all the requirements that weโre looking for with this job, however, there are certain things we are looking for - specifically:\n\n* Have you been able to collaborate & communicate successfully with others in a cross-functional team?\n* Do you have very high standards for your work and desire to work with other talented people?\n* Have you succeeded at building effective tools and software integrations in the past?\n* Do you bring a depth of expertise in security and performance best practices?\n* Are you able to take UX and design into account when developing front end applications?\n* Are you comfortable architecting APIs as well as developing corresponding documentation?\n* Are you comfortable working within multiple projects and technologies simultaneously with minimal supervision?\n* Are you based in the GMT-4 to GMT-8 time zones (North America), so you can work closely with our distributed product team?\n* Can you get down with an uncomfortable amount of goose puns?\n\nOk the last one isnโt super work related, but we honestly do have a lot of goose puns. Itโs one of our favourite parts of our culture!\n\nWe do things differently here. Weโre all about fun, but also making an impact. We care deeply about working with amazing people, and have set up our company culture specifically for that - our compensation is competitive, our work environment is autonomous and collaborative, and our emphasis is on learning and growth. Put simply, itโs the type of company we actually want to work at ourselves!\n\nSo, this is us, standing in front of you, asking you to join us. \n\n \n\nPlease mention the words **LIVE BUBBLE ENTRY** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMg==). \nMediocre (creators of meh.com, morningsave.com, casemates.com, sidedeal.com, and future projects) is looking for extraordinary DevOps Engineers to build the automation and processes needed to deploy, run, and monitor our ecommerce applications.\n\nMaybe you’re a developer who is interested in continuous deployment and network operations. \nConcrete Platform – Back-End Node.js Engineer \n\nLocation Farringdon London\n\nSalary £65k-£70k\n\nBenefits - We have a healthcare scheme, 25 days’ holiday and a flexible 2-day/week work-from-home policy.\n\nThe Role Concrete are looking to accelerate the delivery of our product feature roadmap for our new SaaS-based platform. To make these goals a reality we are expanding our engineering team, providing greater resources to reduce development times and enabling more projects to be worked on simultaneously.\n\nThe scrum team are responsible for building, testing and deploying all new back-end features to a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline, working predominantly in Node.js and ES6+ whilst utilising a range of modern tools including Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services and MongoDB. As work begins to ramp up, we are looking for an experienced Back-End Engineer to join our team and work closely with the Senior Engineers to ensure new features are completed at a consistent pace.\n\nBy providing an Agile induction we’ll get you up to speed very quickly and you’ll be actively involved in projects in no time, participating in team Scrum meetings and following a two-week release cycle within a Kanban work-management system.\n\nWorking as a Back-End Engineer you will be actively building APIs using Node.js with Express.js as a framework. Day-to-day, Node, Express and ES6+ (JavaScript) will be your bread and butter letting you take full advantage of the latest features and industry practices to create new Greenfield services, ensuring that our platform remains both scalable and future-proof.\n\nSupporting your daily work, you will utilise a diverse range of tools and services from the cutting edge of industry adoption. Using non-relational databases such as MongoDB, you will build queries and create tables, whilst using Kubernetes and Docker when deploying your code to Amazon Web Services (AWS).\n\nQuality is important to us, so you will take responsibility for the tech debt that you create: testing your own code and taking part in code reviews form a core part of the role. We currently use Jest for testing purpose and have a rigorous peer review process, helping to ensure that the code you create is always the highest quality possible. Once your code is signed off, you will merge it into the master branch, triggering, testing and orchestrating deployment into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline.\n\nAs a company, we believe in fostering a supportive environment when you need it, but otherwise take a hands-off approach, giving you autonomy over your work. There’s already a great senior team in place, that is always happy to lend a hand. There may be times when you will work in a paired-programming environment alongside another engineer, but for the most part you will work independently from the user stories and materials provided.\n\n\nWhat we need from you You will, first and foremost, have a proven track-record in a Back-End Engineering role, working in an Agile product environment. We don’t mind whether you’ve worked as a web developer using open source tech or as a Java/C# engineer, so long as you’re excited by the prospect of moving to a JavaScript focused role moving forward.\n\nThe ability to write native JavaScript is crucial to the role, including a solid technical understanding of asynchronous programming in ES6+, enabling you to discuss how promises function and, ideally, how to use them in relation to the ‘async’ and ‘await’ functions.\n\nYou will have experience working independently, building APIs and features from scratch and generally working on the API-layer, including integrating APIs into pre-existing systems. Your level of knowledge should be sufficient to walk us through the lifecycle of a RESTful request, drawing on your own experiences and starting from the HTTP request all the way to testing end-points.\n\nWe work with MongoDB, but you don’t need direct experience. You should be able to explain why NoSQL databases would be used instead of relational databases (e.g. MongoDB/Couchbase instead of MySQL/PostgreSQL/SQL Server) We want someone who understands the fundamentals and is interested in learning more.\n\nThe ability to self-test your code will be critical to the role, so you should have a firm understanding of the benefits that this strategy brings. Your experience with testing tools (e.g. Jest, Jasmine, Mocha, JUnit, or even PHPUnit) will have left you with a strong understanding of why unit testing is important.\n\nOn top of that, you’ll also relish code reviews and recognise them as a feedback mechanism that helps both you and your team to improve.\n\nWe’ll expect you to have some knowledge of a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) setup, including awareness of Docker and a basic understanding of DevOps skills.\n\nWe work in a collaborative environment and you will “Be Part of a Great Team”, so you should enjoy working closely with other team members. In particular, you must be happy to work paired with another engineer and should be able to discuss how this strategy can benefit your productivity, skills development and the integrity of the wider project itself.\n\nFinally, at Concrete we love what we do and expect you to be fascinated by every element of your job. You will be passionate about the front-end sector, getting stuck in to technical conversations whenever possible and will always be eager to provide your opinion, viewing challenges as a learning opportunity rather than a roadblock.\n\n\nWhat you’ll get from us A supportive and flexible learning environment, including great opportunities to gain new skills – or hone existing ones – with technologies that are rapidly becoming industry standards, particularly Node.js and the latest features of ES6 (JavaScript). You will be up-skilled as a priority with the aim to make you a truly full-stack engineer, including learning React and Redux on the front-end. We’re happy to adjust to your interests and strengths, so if you want to learn more about the front-end, Minimum Viable Products, Node.js or anything else, we’ll support you to develop those abilities, leaving you with a truly desirable skillset – after all, we believe you should always “Stay Hungry”!\n\nBy working closely with our DevOps teams, you will gain a strong understanding of the DevOps mindset, alongside hands-on experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kubernetes and Docker. These skills will give you a great overview of the processes and methods required to work in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline, with the potential to transition into a DevOps focused role if that is desirable.\n\nAs the team scales to support further platforms, services and projects coming from our pipeline, there will be a real opportunity for driven individuals to take on more senior positions within the department, including transitioning into Technical Lead or Lead Engineer roles.\n\nThere will be regular opportunities to work on large Greenfield projects with a genuinely global reach. We have a busy project pipeline so there will be plenty of possibilities for you to really make a mark on the direction of our platforms and services, whilst gaining exposure to a wide variety of areas of the business.\n\nWe’ll trust and support you to truly take ownership of your work, providing real autonomy on the projects you work on. We’ve got your back if necessary, but you’ll be entrusted to get stuck in and put your skills, and vision, to work. We truly believe that brilliant products are built by teams that work brilliantly together; but brilliant teams can only be built with brilliant people!\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
