Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โAfrica Region
The Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โ Africa Region is a collaboration between Certara, Pharmacometrics Africa, CP+ Associates, together with several pharma industry and academic partners, to provide an intensive fellowship program for talented and motivated doctoral level scientists from Africa.
The program has 2 components:
Virtual Program โ A 3-month virtual program (Q1 2023) that will provide fellows with exposure to leading edge pharmacometric model based analysis. The time commitment will be significant (e.g. a minimum of 20 hours per week over the duration of the Virtual Program.
Immersion Program โ Upon completion of the Virtual Program, fellows will have the option to extend the program for another 3 months to an project-based program led by Certara and partners from pharma and academia. The program is designed to foster professional development through immersive training on all competencies required for regulatory quality pharmacometrics analyses and reports. Guided by industry mentors, the fellows will receive class-room training, are assigned individual jointly-agreed upon, precompetitive projects and participate in a leadership development program designed to enhance their decision-making and communication skills.
The Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โ Africa Region aims to build scientific and leadership capability in Africa by enhancing the skills of local scientists and by facilitating knowledge transfer to their wider scientific communities. The relationships forged between the hosts of this program and the fellows' home institutions will further the endeavour to create next-generation medicines to ease suffering and improve quality of life for patient populations around the world. Successful participants in this program will be considered as candidates to join the consulting team for Certara located on-site in Africa.

For the participants who are selected into the Immersion Program the program sponsors will provide :
Travel, accommodation & visas: (1) round-trip economy class airfare, (2) student-style accommodation for the duration of the on-site program, and (3) support for educational visa applications.
Stipend and health insurance: health insurance and a monthly stipend to cover incidentals and basic living expenses.
Timelines & Location: The 3-month Virtual Program is planned to start in mid-January 2023. The start of the 3-month Immersion Program is planned for 2Q2023.

Qualifications
Eligibility to this program is based on the following criteria:
You have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. pharmaceutical, medical or biological sciences, applied mathematics or statistics)
You have recently completed your PhD or equivalent studies (i.e. early to mid-career)
You should already have done at least 1 clinical pharmacology or pharmacometrics data analysis project using descriptive or a model-based methods
You have evidence of completing relevant courses on model-based analysis methods e.g. Pharmacometrics Africa courses or equivalent
You are a proficient English speaker and based in an African country
You have demonstrated strong team player skills

Qualifications
PhD, MD, PharmD in Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Medicine, or related field.
1 to 5 years of industry/consulting experience (may be combined with academic research) working in R&D, pre-clinical and clinical environments.

Proficient in modeling (e.g., popPK and PK/PD analyses, model-based meta- analysis, dose-response and exposure-response analyses, dataset creation, disease modeling, trial simulation, optimal study designs, strategic decision analyses, economic modeling).
Experience in moving compounds through the clinical trials process and experience with various elements of clinical development and trial design and management and filings preferred.

The Senior Project Manager will provide leadership for complex strategic projects by ensuring that there is strong alignment between strategy, goals, and execution. This individual will assemble, lead, motivate, and align the project team in client engagements within our Integrated Drug Development division. Responsibilities
Conduct Project Management activities for complex multi-disciplinary projects delivering quality, efficient, and timely solutions
Translate decisions into implementable projects and manage to successful execution
Optimize decision-making for budget and resource commitments. Ensure the consideration of various options according to the principles of time, cost and risk and addressing technical, regulatory, business and operational needs
Plan, develop, monitor, and track projects ensuring all functions are aligned behind the objectives and inspire the team to achieve challenging goals. Ensuring a well-functioning, efficient project team.=
Understand responsibilities within the engagement and ensure the successful steps of project management are being adhered to within each engagement
Broad understanding of drug development and the lifecycle of a project
Adept in the product offerings of Integrated Drug Development, a basic understanding of different Business Units within the organization
Manage project budget, status, deliverables and conducts invoicing throughout the project lifecycle
Identify and document scope changes, ensuring timing and budget impact are communicated to all stakeholders
Support the Account/Project Leader in all aspects of project management activities such as scoping, time, resource and budget tracking, project planning, client interactions, and reporting
Take leadership role in various special assignments, projects or teams as and when required. Quickly comprehend the business challenge or requirements, drive the exercise to identify solutions.
Collaborate with project team to ensure timely delivery and quality of all project deliverables
Lead and manage client meetings/teleconferences/client visits and quality audits
Oversee QC process of a project by tracking contributions of stakeholders and assuring full document QC according to applicable SOPs
Authors scopes of work for client engagements and supports accurate pipeline reporting by maintaining up to date SalesForce records
Leads strategic Operational Excellence initiatives aimed at improvement of business practices and processes
Collaborate directly with sponsors and stakeholders in developing business requirements, business controls and implementation plans
Produce and present clear, concise, and professionally written communications and presentations
Communicate issues, issue status, and issue resolution on a regular basis
Provide leadership and timely feedback to keep all stakeholders, including senior management, informed of project progress
Lead and facilitate regular client status meetings for internal and external customers
Develop and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reporting mechanisms as needed
Qualifications
Undergraduate or graduate degree in project management, business administration, operations management, or relevant scientific discipline with a proven track record in integrated drug development
Science based background preferred
Professional Project Management Certification in PMP, Agile, SCRUM, ISO, Six-Sigma or ITIL preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or contract research organization(s) in positions of increasing responsibility in project management with at least 3 years relevant project management experience in multi-disciplinary drug development teams
Strong track record of working with sponsors to translate decisions into actions and delivering complex projects on time, under budget, and with high quality
Experience in optimizingthe trade-offs within a set of projects to maximize the ROI and reduce the risk across a potential portfolio of investment
Experience interfacing with scientists on complex, data intensive projects with a deeply analytical set of scientific stakeholders

Qualifications

Proficiency in PK/PD and statistical software (e.g., NONMEM, R).
Proficient in modeling (e.g., popPK and PK/PD analyses, model-based meta- analysis, dose-response and exposure-response analyses, dataset creation, disease modeling, trial simulation, optimal study designs, strategic decision analyses, economic modeling).
Experience in moving compounds through the clinical trials process and experience with various elements of clinical development and trial design and management and filings preferred.
Independent performance of analysis and modeling and development of reports with limited supervision.
Comfortable in a client environment able to communicate with and collaborate with peer scientists.
Developing ability to identify new business development opportunities through client interactions.
