\nSenior Ruby on Rails Developer\n\nYou will be working in one of our product teams inside the Backend guild to design and implement real world staffing problems solutions in a Service Oriented Architecture platform. \n\nCompany KPIs drive the prioritization of features you will build using your well known software engineering best practices to deliver maintainable and scalable code on-time.\n\nOur current more common stack is Rails 6.0 with Postgresql as RDBS, RabbitMQ as message bus provider, and Redis with sidekiq for async processing. But you will be able to code in different Rails versions, Elixir and Javascript with React. All our services are containerized with docker and all our real production platform is simulated in development using this technology.\n\n\nRequirements and Skills:\n\n\n* 5+ years of software development experience, preferably web and API development. At least 2+ years of experience building Ruby/Ruby on Rails, customer-facing applications\n\n* Strong entrepreneurial spirit, understanding problems and looking for solutions out of the box\n\n* A thirst for analyzing key business metrics & qualitative feedback\n\n* A hands-on approach to understanding and tackling business challenges\n\n* Knowledge of Agile methodologies (inc. Scrum, Kanban, …) & working with a Design team\n\n* BA/BS or higher in computer science or equivalent work experience\n\n* You have worked on front-end web technologies (i.e. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, React, Vue or Angular), and large scale apps experience is a big plus for us.\n\n* You're a programming language polyglot and learn new languages and tools for fun and profit, but always choosing the right tool for the job (we like Ruby, Elixir, Python, Go, Scala, Rust, …)\n\n* You know your way through Linux servers and app deployments\n\n* Strong RDBMs knowledge (query analysis, database transactions, …) and some No-SQL experience (Redis).\n\n* Experience working with distributed systems.\n\n* You master git and the GitHub workflow, which we use extensively at jobandtalent\n\n* Fluent in English\n\n\n\n\n\nOffer in Short\n\n\n* Ownership of projects with direct impact on the product.\n\n* Salary in the 40k-60k range for Spanish Permanent Contract. 4.000-6.500k/month for a stable freelance contract. # SLI Developer Job Post\n\n## About SalonInteractive\n\nSalonInteractive is a nimble, rapidly growing startup in the Health & Beauty eCommerce space. We provide an extremely easy way for salons to sell product online by linking them directly to distributors around the US. You could think of it as an out-of-the-box ready platform for dropshipping, but it's more complex in terms of both code and partnerships than that makes it sound. The complexity in the space gives us interesting problems to work on in the near term, and makes the business defensible in the long term.\n\nOur current goals can be summed up simply: provide a more modern, more beautiful, more streamlined experience for all of our partners, of which there are many. Salons, stylists, consumers, distributors, brands, us (SalonInteractive), and more. We are accomplishing this goal by redesigning and rearchitecting much of our core application. It's an exciting time.\n\nWe want to deliver a product that is high quality inside and out. One that helps our partners capitalize on real opportunities, and gives us flexibility to meet the as-yet-unknown needs of the future. To this end, the engineering team works closely with stakeholders to combine their understanding of problems and opportunities with our understanding of engineering to craft effective solutions.\n\n## Your Day-to-day\n\nThis is a hands-on, fully-remote programming position. You'll be working on our Ruby on Rails based eCommerce platform backend, as well as the Tailwind/AlpineJS frontend. The core technologies youโ€™ll be working withโ€”and need to be familiar for success in this roleโ€”are Ruby, HTML, CSS, and JS.\n\nWe have a large number of high-impact projects planned for the platform. You'll work closely with the CTO, our existing development team, and other stakeholders both within the company and outside of it to understand needs and develop solutions. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing and deploying code to best serve our customers and partners.\n\nAs mentioned before, we have quite a bit of work planned for the next few months, so an ideal applicant will be ready to hit the ground running. Despite the amount of work we have, we strive to minimize context switchingโ€”if youโ€™re on a project, you shouldnโ€™t expect to be bombarded with unrelated tweaks on other projects here and there thoughโ€”as with any companyโ€”it does happen to some extent.\n\nWe're a small but quickly growing post-revenue startup. As one of the early hires, there is opportunity for this to be a high impact position. An appropriately ambitious individual will have huge opportunity to lay the groundwork for the company's future.\n\n## Some Notes on Culture\n\nHere are some of our values. Theyโ€™re always being refined based on what works and what doesnโ€™t.\n\n- We value clear, concise communication.\n- Ask questions. You can only produce high quality work if you have a clear understanding of the problem and the constraints.\n- Contextโ€”understanding our partners and their stakeholdersโ€”empowers individual contributors to find better solutions.\n- Free up time for interesting problems by automating repeatable tasks and learning your tools inside and out.\n- No process for processโ€™ sake. No meetings for meetingsโ€™ sake. But we respect that there *is* a place for both.\n- Individual productivity is important, and hugely dependent on a minimally distracting, supportive environment.\n\n## Technical Responsibilities\n\nWhen you start, this is what you can expect to work on.\n\n- Designing the technical architecture of large new components for the system\n- Implementation of features on the platform\n- Implementing designs in CSS/HTML/JS\n- Configuring and tuning middleware services, Redis, ElasticSearch, etc.\n- Integrating with 3rd party APIs and developing our own for public consumption\n\n## Qualifications\n\nThese are the must haves. Basically: be a Ruby web developer!\n\n- 3โ€“5+ years of industry experience\n- Hands-on programming experience with Ruby\n- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JS\n- Git experience\n- Understand the webโ€”REST, HTTP verbs, basic HTTP status codes, etc.\n- Familiarity with the Unix command line\n\n## Ideal Qualifications\n\nIf you fulfill the above *and* have experience with a few of the below, definitely get in touch.\n\n- Hands-on programming experience with Ruby on Rails\n- Enterprise software development\n- Strong UX/UI chops\n- Deep understanding building complex database queries, particularly MySQL\n- Opinionated about designโ€”visual and code\n- A portfolio of personal projects (not necessarily code related) \n\nPlease mention the words **THIS TURN WISH** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4zNg==). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide

\nWe are currently seeking a Ruby on Rails Developer. Experience working in front-end frameworks like React and Angular is also desirable (although the emphasis here is on Ruby/Rails). This is a remote position.\n\nThe ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, and self-motivated with a proven track record in delivering modern application solutions (particularly Ruby or web-based technologies). Beyond strong technical skills, we are looking for someone with mature communication skills and the desire to be a part of a cooperative development effort.\n\nInitially you'll be part of a dedicated project team configuring and developing a custom health science platform for drug trials. This role will grow into opportunities to work on other tech stacks and other projects - as a small company you'll always have opportunity to work on new challenges.\n\nThis might be a good fit for you if:\n\n\n* You enjoy working at small companies with close-knit teams\n\n* You consider yourself adaptive and enjoy wearing multiple hats \n\n* You consider software development a craft or discipline, and are interested in having that consideration shape your development activities\n\n* You like board games (no really, we have a board game night)\n\n\n\n\nThis probably isn't a good fit if you:\n\n\n* Need a lot of structure or oversight to do your best work. Our remote environment requires team members to be able to tolerate ambiguity and be assertive and communicative when tasks are unclear.\n\n* Are really keenly interested in just one specific technology niche (nothing wrong with that - but you'll probably get frustrated here)\n\n* Need "to be right" all the time. We're a growing, collaborative team that frequently tries new approaches. Team members need to be open to taking risks and reasoning with one another.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n\n* 4+ years of experience as a software engineer/developer-using Ruby on Rails and related web technologies (HTML5, CSS3. Javascript, jQuery, and SQL).\n\n* Solid working knowledge of the Ruby language and the Rails framework.\n\n* Understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns and how they apply to Ruby.\n\n* Solid understanding of SQL and data modeling for scalability and performance\n\n* Experience creating RESTful APIs for integration with mobile apps and websites\n\n* Proficiency with Git as a source code management tool\n\n* Experience with Agile development methodologies\n\n* Experience with an Agile-based work tracking system such as Atlassian Jira, Assembla, or Rally\n\n\n\n\nDesirable Qualifications\n\n\n* Experience with Javascript frameworks - Backbone.JS, Angular, React, Vue.js\n\n* Experience with Behavior Drive Development (BDD)\n\n* Solid understanding of one or more NOSQL databases - MongoDB, CouchDB, Cassandra, etc.\n\n* Knowledge of AWS, iOS SDK, Android SDK\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Ruby, Developer, Digital Nomad, React, JavaScript, NoSQL, Git, Mobile and Android jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $120,000/year\n

\nWork on a product that improves the end users life, health and nutrition; while not giving up your own to do so!\n\nPosition: Lead Ruby Software Developer & Foodie\n\nReports To: Product Manager\n\nDemand: Typically, 40 hours per week during normal business hours\n\nLocation: Remote (within the U.S.) or on-site in Dayton, Ohio (US Citizens only please; no companies)\n\nStart Date: Flexible\n\nApplication: http://bit.ly/oammrubysoftware\n\nOnce a Month Meals (OAMM) is a Web-based product and community with the goal of empowering wellness through meal planning and freezer cooking. \n\nOAMM believes that your work, time and hobbies shouldn’t come at the cost of family and health. Gathering around the dinner table, eating with those you care about and enjoying a nutritious meal is paramount to our mission. Therefore, we create software to further empower individuals to bring back family dinner time without sacrificing the little spare time they have available—giving our users time for what matters most.\n\nOAMM began as a blog in 2009 with a deep, rich, invested community. Over the last six years it has emerged as a SaaS product fueled by the passions and membership of the community. The technology side of our product is exciting and challenging to build but unlike many other SaaS products, it isn’t the technology that drives the product. The driving force is our community/membership. We believe strongly that these two things, technology and community, have to be in balance and we are looking for a software developer that can respect, appreciate and aspire to help us grow both. OAMM is also committed to steady growth through self-funding as we evolve our product.\n\nThe Position\n\nOnce A Month Meals is looking to add to its technology team an experienced Lead Ruby Software Developer. As part of the OAMM technology team, you’ll work with freezer cooking, “cooking math,” user accounts, ecommerce, and more. You’ll need to be comfortable with databases like MySQL and Postgres, and either understand (or be able to come up to speed quickly on) Solr. Experience designing, building, and supporting REST APIs with authentication is important, because we leverage a number of third party APIs for crucial aspects of our systems.\n\nIt will be important to have the experience and ability to do some long-term, big-picture architecture thinking but have the skills and desire enough to implement this architecture through solid, tested code. \n\nYour coding abilities are just one piece of the puzzle though. In addition to being able to write great code, this position requires a unique skill set. The following are vital to the success of this position:\n\n* Ruby on Rails Depth of Knowledge - It isn’t enough to simply have used Ruby here and there, a deep understanding and application of it in your previous work is essential.\n\n* Experience in the Kitchen - it doesn’t have to be freezer or batch cooking, although experience with those is a plus. Experience in the kitchen cooking, preparing recipes and/or meal planning is important to the role and to understanding the software’s main functions.\n\n* A Love for Math - fractions, ceilings, scaling recipes and mathematical algorithms are a regular part of coding life in this role. If you told your high school math teacher you would never use algebra again, this probably isn’t the role for you. :)\n\n* Organizational Leadership - the ability to be self directed, write scopes, document processes and communicate those to a team is imperative. This is a small team (front end developer, project manager and yourself) right now, which means that there is an expectation that you will be able to lead yourself and eventually others. Strong communication and decision making within the context of the greater team mission is important.\n\n* Experience Working on a LIVE Product - proven experience designing, planning, and building web applications to scale is imperative. There are thousands of active users on this system requiring that the code needs to be incrementally built, tested and released to ensure zero disruptions to the user experience.\n\n\n\nYour job duties will include:\n\n\n* Maintaining two Rails apps\n\n\n\n* Keeping the Ruby gems updated on staging and production environments\n\n\n\n* Watching and improving performance (speed and analytics) of APIs\n\n* Build, maintain and test new features\n\n* Develop automated, incremental, deployments and tests\n\n* Assistance in setting technical direction for the OAMM products\n\n\n\n\nSkills/Tools/Qualifications:\n\n\n* Ruby\n\n* Rails\n\n* MySQL\n\n* Postgres\n\n* Git\n\n* Automated deployments (Capistrano, etc.)\n\n* Stripe API\n\n\n\n\nBecause we are a small (8 full-time and 3 part-time), fully-bootstrapped team, we all play multiple roles. As we grow, we want to continue to build a product design and development team. This position will be a key-player on that team with opportunity to impact the technical architecture and the future development team.\n\nThe ideal candidate is:\n\n\n* a self-starter—they seek out opportunities to learn new methods or technologies\n\n* a problem-solver—they figure out how to get things done\n\n* comfortable with task runners like gulp and grunt\n\n* competent with git and github\n\n* mindful of performance and interested in implementing tools like performance budgets\n\n* unashamed in their support of accessibility best practices as well as progressive enhancement and responsive design\n\n* able to communicate effectively in writing and in-person\n\n* willing to balance all constraints of a problem: user needs, timeline, budget, product vision\n\n* A meal planner - they see the benefits and are willing to plan meals for themselves on a regular basis\n\n* collaborative—nothing gets done in a vacuum around here, we need folks who recognize they’ll be better if they work with others\n\n\n\n\nExperience with deeper software development best-practices (or strong desire to grow into them) is a plus:\n\n\n* work with other members of the product team to build modular, maintainable and reusable code\n\n* work with internal and external resources to implement fixes and features to the stack currently in place (WordPress, Sass, Rails)\n\n* recommend and implement best-practices around developer productivity, source-control, automated testing, API design, security, performance and share our learnings with the greater tech community\n\n\n\n\nAdditional experience in the following strongly desired:\n\n\n* Javascript frameworks such as React, Ember, or Angular, or Vue\n\n* Solr\n\n* CircleCI\n\n* Docker\n\n* PHP\n\n\n\n\nThe Culture\n\nOAMM strives to create an environment where individuals are encouraged to work independently but enabled to work collaboratively. We spend a lot of time on Slack and in video calls interacting daily. We also get together in person at least twice a year for a retreat, usually to a warm climate. We value spending time with one another when we are at work, and caring for each person, while recognizing and encouraging a work-life family balance.\n\nThe Benefits\n\n\n* Competitive Salary\n\n* Personal Days: Two weeks (plus one week holiday shutdown and minimal standard US holidays due to peak sales periods matching those holidays—so we try to make up for it during the year)\n\n* Flexible Schedule: Work when you want, just provide us with some Eastern Time Zone overlap for meetings\n\n* All the hardware and software needed to do your job\n\n* Opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of families\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Ruby, Executive, Developer, Digital Nomad, Video, Math, Git, API, Sales and SaaS jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n

\nAbout Headway\n\nFounded in 2015, Headway was born out of a passion to bring entrepreneurial ideas to market and keep them there. We work holistically with our client partners as a true extension of their product team, not just as the technical execution arm of their business. If we see something broken, whether that's a workflow, a marketing or messaging strategy, or a needless feature, we speak up, and our clients trust us to help them fix it.\n\nBecause we're more than just designers and developers, we achieve results that bring successful long-term partnerships and trusted referrals. We help entrepreneurs build a business not just an app. This approach, coupled with realistic and incremental software releases results in a friendly, fun, and collaborative atmosphere where our colleagues and clients both have room to learn and grow.\n\nSee how our clients talk about our approach and check out some of the recognition we've received so far. Discover how we show our clients appreciation with unique holiday gifts each year. Or, if you're a podcast fan, check out Seaworthy, where we explore ways to help companies grow and scale their business and ideas. We're excited about what we've achieved in the last few years, but we're just getting started. We need your help to take us to the next level!\n\nA Day In The Life\n\nDuring a typical work week, our crew members enjoy a balanced assignment of 35 hours on client projects with the ability to invest the other 5 hours on a combination of individual goals and team meetings. Each quarter, we take a full week away from client work to focus on team goals and internal project initiatives. These weeks alternate between a retreat style destination that encourages team bonding and goal setting, and a more focused week-long design and development sprint at our primary office in Wisconsin. Check out some of our team week recaps and years in review to get a feel for how much fun it is to work at Headway!\n\nWhat Does Success Look Like?\n\nDuring your first 2-4 weeks at Headway, you'll have an opportunity to meet with lots of crew members across the company and start to understand our unique approach to product development. This includes several "Headway 101" sessions that cover everything from our project management style, to our design aesthetic and business analysis approach, to development tools and techniques. If you're new to one of our tech stacks, we'll also create a customized trail of exercises to help get you up to speed. This training covers fundamentals of our core technologies, the way we delegate tasks within a development team, our git process and workflow, testing strategies, tips for successful client interactions, and much more.\n\nAfter this initial period, you'll be successfully contributing to new feature work on a client project in the context of a team. You'll also be participating in daily standups, sprint planning meetings, and retrospectives. Welcome aboard!\n\nOngoing Support\n\nEach week, you'll meet with your team lead to ensure that you have the time and attention you need to be successful. Your needs and questions will always come first in this meeting, but other topics discussed include:\n\n\n* Individual quarterly goal progress\n\n* Project status / team issues / weekly retro\n\n* Individual responses to our weekly team health questionnaire\n\n\n\n\nQuarterly and Annual Reviews\n\nIn addition to weekly touch point meetings, more formal quarterly reviews are scheduled to discuss successes and areas for growth identified over the last 3 months. We have annual performance assessments and salary reviews, though we reserve the right to provide a merit based pay raise at any time. Most crew members achieve between a 2% and 5% raise each year within their same role, but bigger jumps are possible when roles or responsibilities increase. We're here to grow with you sustainably over the long term.\n\nExperience and Results At Every Level\n\nWith an experienced leadership team encompassing design, development, sales, marketing, and operations, Headway is poised for an amazing 2019. Our business is guided by EOS and we have strong processes, documentation, and people to support your growth and development. As they say, “Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to.” For more on that, check out our benefits!\n\nWhy Should You Apply?\n\n\n* Work on exciting projects in the latest tech across a variety of industries including: Healthcare, FinTech, Education, Personal Growth & Training, Lifestyle & Social\n\n* Collaborate with colleagues and clients directly to ship features that users love\n\n* Work with appreciative clients who seek out and value your input and feedback\n\n* Strong leadership and top-notch colleagues to help you realize your full potential\n\n* Career growth and leadership opportunities\n\n\n\n\nKey Benefits\n\n\n* 3 weeks of PTO & Sick Time available immediately\n\n* 1 week of additional time off during the winter holiday season\n\n* 100% of health care and dental premiums paid for you and all your dependents\n\n* Up to a 4% matching 401k contribution based on your dollar contribution\n\n* $6,000 hardware on-boarding budget including $2,000 to spend however you like\n\n* $2,500 annual education and conference budget\n\n\n\n\nThe Hiring Process\n\nIf after we review your application and we choose to move forward, the following interviews will typically take place over the course of 1-3 weeks (depending on scheduling):\n\n\n* Work history and aspirations chat with our People and Team Strategist\n\n* Skills and performance discussion with a Development Lead or the Head of Development\n\n* Take-home skills assessment with the potential for follow up / discussion / remote pairing at this stage\n\n* Group interview with several members of the design team and/or development team\n\n\n\n\nPosition Description\n\nAs a Developer at Headway, you are client and user focused while executing on the details of each project.
