4+ years of software engineering experience
Experience working on SaaS, marketplace, consumer or infrastructure

\nVMware vCenter Server Virtual Appliance (vCSA) is a SUSE Linux Enterprise Server based application, which allows customers to manage the Virtual Machines provisioned in data centers. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join the vCSA Upgrade team in Sofia. The team is responsible for the design and implementation of the vCSA upgrade framework which orchestrates all vCSA components during the upgrade process. The team drives all upgrade requirements and outlines guidelines which other teams in VMware should follow.\n \n Responsibilities:\n \n - Be part of a small, high-performing development team which is growing with new members\n - Work in collaboration with quality assurance, user experience, technical documentation, customer support and other product teams\n - Work with product and R&D management to analyze requirements and define technical solutions, write functional and design specifications\n - Provide solutions for complex architectural and technical problems, propagate these solutions to other teams in the upgrade area\n - Develop high-quality code and adhere to the VMware processes for product quality\n - Fix defects for the upcoming releases, old versions support is done by other groups\n - Provide estimates and plan deliveries in conjunction with the R&D manager \n - Mentor junior members in the team\n \n Requirements:\n \n - A BS or MS in Computer Science\n - A minimum of five years of software engineering experience\n - A proven track record in architecting and delivering distributed enterprise software, including designing and delivering a significant feature\n - Strong algorithmic, excellent analytical and problem solving skills \n - Strong System level programming experience\n - General programming knowledge - data structures, algorithms, design patterns, memory management, etc.\n - Experience in Object Oriented Programming (C++ or Java Preferred)\n - Willingness to use different programming languages to address the specific product needs (Ruby, Java, Python, C#, Bash Scripting, etc.)\n - Experience with enterprise architectures – remote method invocations, stateless designs, SSL security, etc.\n - Experience with multi-tiered architectures (Service-Application-Presentation)\n - Ability to work without close supervision and with proactive goal-oriented attitude\n - Ability to understand, simplify and explain complex functionality to peers\n - Excellent written and verbal communication skills and fluent English (speaking/reading/writing)\n - Must be available to work full-time in Sofia\n \n Will be considered as plus:\n \n - Experience in delivering install and upgrade solutions for distributed systems\n - Experience in delivering zero downtime upgrade-based networked applications \n - Expertise in Python programming (or deep familiarity with Python with expertise in another OO language)\n\nVMware offers:\n \n - Attractive compensation package - competitive salary, flexible bonus scheme, company sponsored mobile phone plan and additional long-term incentives\n - Individual career path - management and technical career growth, enhanced by learning and development program, regular performance assessment, opportunity to work with international teams of IT professionals\n - Healthy work environment - company sponsored medical insurance program, food and beverage program, sport activities, open communication\n - Work-life balance – 25 days paid vacation, regular team buildings and celebrations.\n \n All applications will be treated with strict confidentiality.\n \n As part of the VMware global standards for integrity you will be required to go through a pre-employment screening process before you join. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
