Who you are:
We are currently looking to hire a Backend Engineer. The ideal candidate has proven development skills, deep experience building APIs, familiarity with various database systems (SQL, noSQL, Graph), and experience working as part of a development team in a D2C startup environment.
As part of our Tech team, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of our products and will focus on building, iterating, and optimizing our admin environment, and other new and existing components of our digital ecosystem.
We expect the ideal candidate to take ownership of project delivery with a self-starter attitude. A collaborative work ethic and easy-going nature is a must.
You will be part of a team collaborating with different stakeholders across the company, from Science, to Research and Veterinary, to Marketing, Tech, and Design.
A native level of English both spoken and written is preferred.
Responsibilities
Design and implement server-side components of a modern web application
Actively participate in the overall application lifecycle.
Define and communicate technical requirements.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define product requirements, including project managers, backend and frontend developers, designers and others.
Write high-quality reusable code ensuring high performance.
Knowledge And Skills
Proven hands-on backend web development experience.
In-depth understanding of web development and proficient knowledge of Node.js, Javascript, Python.
Strong knowledge of API development and Service Oriented Architectures: Microservices, RESTful.
Deep experience with Git is a must.
Expertise with all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from discovery phase to delivery.
Experience with various database systems (SQL, NoSQL, graph). Proven experience with Amazon DynamoDB is a plus.
Experience creating user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments.
Capability to integrate multiple data sources into one system.
Experience deploying to AWS cloud services: S3, Cloudfront, EC2, API Gateway.
Ability to take concepts into actionable architecture and plans.
Experience building โadmin dashboardโ applications is a plus.
Plus capabilities
Knowledge of front-end technologies and platforms, such as HTML5, and CSS3, React, Ionic.
Experience working in direct-to-consumer companies and brands.
Experience building backend for mobile applications.
