๐ก About us:\n\n- **Location.** Two founders from ๐ฉ๐ช & ๐ฎ๐น (1 Software Engineer, 1 Business/Growth)\n- **Incorporation.** AgreeTo Inc is a Delaware C corp in the US (working fully remote)\n- **Traction.** >300 weekly actives on our MVP (a [chrome extension](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/agreeto-easy-availability/celmhpegeapipcednghpceehoickmnin))\n- **Funding.** Collected an early pre-seed (for your salary mainly!ย ๐ )\n\nEmail our founder directly atย **[[email protected]](https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/[email protected]&su=Application%20as%20Founding%20Engineer&body=%F0%9F%91%8BHi%20Richard,&&tf=cm).**\n\n\n---\n\n# What we offer (compensation & benefits)\n\nAs most great candidates wonโt be ready to join full-time immediately, weโre open to contract-to-hire. (The hiring offer will be a mix of salary + equity.)\n\n**Contracting**\n\n- $40-60/hour\n- 4 weeks\n- ~20hrs/week\n\nโ **Hiring offer**\n\n- 2% equity for the founding engineer (negotiable)\n- Baseย salary (excl.ย equity) will be **USD ~65k** until Series A, after which thereโll be a pay raise\n\n# Mission\n\nOur mission is to take the work out of scheduling while avoiding scheduling links (ร la calendly).\n\n**80% of meetings are scheduled manually via e-mail or phone.** The reality is that scheduling links donโt work for most of the meetings because of the costs to social capital.\n\n* When someone sends you a calendly link and asks you to slot yourself on their calendar, they are telling you that you are less important than them. It is a โget in lineโ move.\n* In practice, recipients will often not click on your calendly.\n\nThese aspects make **scheduling links de-facto useless** for the vast majority of the workforce. Imagine:\n\n* A Sales Development Representative reaching out to a prospective client that heโs never talked to.\n* An architect trying to set up a first consultation with new homeowners.\n* A head hunter setting up a confidential meeting for a senior executive position at a corporate company.\n\nThe reality is that setting up a meeting is a nuanced dance of social capital to match the importance and urgency between two parties. And this is currently a very manual process.\n\n**We are looking for a Founding Engineer to join our founders and build a software tool that solves that manual process.**ย \n\n# Why join\n\n**Join a company thatโs going from 0 โ 10k MRR.** Our MVP grew all organic. Now, weโre ready to go for revenue now and make that grow.\n\n**Full focus on building.** Fundraising, Marketing & Customer Support will all be taken care of by the other founders. Youโll be able to focus on building.\n\n**Founder competencies.** Richard is a self-taught developer working as a software engineer now and Philipp majored in engineering. However, both founders have a background in growth and transfer the skills to the business side of things.\n\n**Reduced risk.** While youโll get potentially life-changing equity in the company, weโve already secured enough money to pay you a salary.\n\n# What you'll do (responsibilities)\n\n**Make most of our technical decisions.**ย We want to rewrite our MVP from scratch, which leaves a complete greenfield for you.\n\n**Co-own the product.**ย We will remain a team of 3 for a while, which means we agree on some features to build and from there itโs you implementing them from start to finish together with one or two other engineers.\n\n**Build for interesting platforms.**ย Bring your full creativity to solve technical problems to serve a web app, a browser extension and an outlook add-in. All with shiny new technologies โจ\n\n# What we're looking for (qualifications)\n\nWe donโt care about CVs. We are looking for smart, driven people who are eager to have an impact.\n\n**Your Stack.** Typescript, Prisma, React, etc. in a monorepo. You should have extensive experience with each of those tools.\n\n**A product builder at heart.**ย You like the idea of implementing your own ideas from A-Z. We expect you to have a knack for great โจUX and have built & launched products from scratch in the past.\n\n**Good heart.**ย We don't tolerate jerks and are generally just friendly people.\n \n\nPlease mention the word **IMPROVEMENT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi42NQ==). InvergHQ is Hiring a Full Stack Developer as their second technical hire. Theyโll be working directly with the CTO and the other founders. This is an opportunity to be an early hire, work in all parts of the system, and help a fast-growing business go to the next level.\n\n## Who We Are\n\nAt its core, Inverge is a platform that helps brands and wholesalers connect with their retailers and gives everyone the tools they need to sell more easily and efficiently.\n\nOur users are able to have one tool to get their products in the hands of customers anywhere they are with minimal effort. They can dive in deep and run every aspect of their business or just use a single piece. This could be a brand connecting to thousands of retailers across the country for both drop shipping and replenishment, sharing a single uniform catalog, managing all of their warehousing and fulfillment for orders coming from any channel; be that a retailer, B2B website, marketplace, or B2C website. This could also be a small store looking to simplify its inventory management and understand its customers better.\n\nOur existing team is composed of three founders. All are based in the areas surrounding New York City.\n\nSince our soft launch, weโve been able to attract well-known brands and as we gear up for a formal launch and an aggressive marketing/sales initiative, weโre expanding our team.\n\nWe are preparing to grow rapidly and are looking for the right person to join us. This will be a critical role in our technology growth and will work directly with the Co-Founder and CTO.\n\nHaving your hands in all parts of the system, youโll have an opportunity to build a team around you and shape how we serve our users.\n\n## About the Role\n\nThis is an opportunity to face a variety of challenges and find what excites you.\n\nIf you love data, analyzing it, and building algorithms to make peoplesโ lives easier, there are tons of opportunities for that.\n\nIf you love communicating with different APIs and bringing information together, the opportunities are virtually limitless.\n\nIf you love taking things apart and seeing how you can make them work better or simplify things, there is plenty of opportunity for that.\n\nIf you love solving problems we are a team that loves to find the hardest problems and work together to solve them.\n\nOur team is curious and always looking to grow and learn.\n\nYouโll have your hands in the entire system. This will include updating and optimizing existing features, fixing bugs, and developing new features.\n\nYouโll also be critical in our transition to a serverless API-based architecture and will be facilitating that process. Youโll have an important role in implementing the standards and procedures needed for collaboration as we grow our development team.\n\nThe job will start full-time and from the beginning youโll be working closely with the CTO to be trained on the usage of the in-house built PHP MVC dependency injection framework that the main application is built on. Once a fundamental understanding is reached, youโll jump right in on projects that need to be addressed right away which will grow in complexity as their experience grows.\n\nThis hire weโre making will be the second technical member on the team and will play a critical role in the initial growth of the company. Youโll be working with the entire founding team but primarily with the CTO.\n\nIn the beginning, youโll be working primarily with PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery. This will transition into primarily Node.js and Serverless Framework replacing the PHP. To a lesser extent at the beginning, you will also be working with React and React Native. You will be building on AWS using EC2, RDS, Elasticache, Lambda, and API Gateway. The collaboration will happen using Git (Bitbucket), Jira, and Trello.\n\nOur day-to-day direct communication is through Slack and email. We manage projects and the roadmap using Trello and Jira. We manage the codebase using Bitbucket.\n\nThe start date is as soon as possible. We are beginning to scale and need to grow our team to continue the development of and maintain our current platform.\n\n## Projects and Day to Day Work\n\nThere is a significant amount of autonomy. There are clear goals and priorities but the actual implementation and timing are flexible. For the most part, our new hire is expected to be self-motivated and complete their work. Youโll have access to the rest of the team as needed but shouldnโt expect to be babysat as long as their work is being completed.\n\nA majority of your time initially will be spent working on the existing PHP/MySQL application. We have many features that need to be added on an ongoing basis. There are also numerous areas that need optimization or tweaks to simplify support. This will range from developing stand-alone applications such as activity tracking across the entire application to adding an interface for changing the comparison date on a sales dashboard to debugging image ordering in existing API integration to developing an entirely new API integration for managing products, inventory, and orders. That initial work will transition to developing these features in the serverless architecture using Node.js.\n\nWe are in the process of exposing the entire application via API. A major part of this role will be assisting in this transition, slowly swapping out the PHP backend with a new implementation in Node.js. You would be expected to have good fundamentals and ability to code in PHP but primarily be experienced in and interested in Node development.\n\n## Long Term and Growth\n\nIn the long term, this person will be managing a team, setting priorities, and overseeing development.\n\nYou will have the opportunity to work with a variety of languages and frameworks. You will not be expected to know everything but show a track record of being curious and wanting to learn. There will be a lot of opportunities to find the projects that you find the most interesting, be it integrating with different APIs or optimizing AWS infrastructure, or developing Native modules. You are coming into a company with a solid foundation at a time when everything is being looked at for improvement. You will hopefully have a huge say in how things are structured and how projects are prioritized.\n\n## Who You Are\n\nWe are looking for someone who is self-motivated and ready to take initiative. We are not looking for someone who needs to be told what to do on a daily basis. We are looking for someone who loves solving problems but doesnโt always go with the first thing that comes to mind. You also consider how this solution might be able to solve the next problem too while being mindful of when spending more time on something in the short term is appropriate. You will be working in a rapidly changing environment and will not be expected to know everything but be very interested in learning new things. Youโll be expected to have worked on teams in production environments and bring their experience and best practices to aid us in this growth period.\n\n## Required Skills\n\n* PHP\n* Nodejs\n* Typescript\n* MySQL\n* HTML/CSS/jQuery\n* Linux\n\n## Nice to Have Skills\n\n* TypeORM\n* Express\n* React/React Native\n* Serverless\n\n## Required Experience\n\n* API integrations\n* Using existing SDK as well as from the ground up\n* Decent UI/UX skillsโby no means Rembrandt but able to make things logical to use and good to look at\n* Standard Git use\n* Experience deploying and maintaining production applications on AWS\n* EC2\n* RDS\n* ELB\n* S3\n* Lambda\n* API Gateway\n\nBackground in eCommerce or understanding of retail is a big plus. We are always needing to put ourselves in the shoes of our clients to figure out the best way to solve the next problem and if you donโt know what an SKU or a PO is itโll be hard to do that.\n\nLocation: At least a partial day overlap with a standard EST workday.\n\nIf you think youโd be a good fit, weโd love to hear from you!\n\n*Inverge asks respectfully to only apply through the application form and do not email/apply directly to Inverge. Any applications sent directly to Inverge will not be considered. Hereโs whyโฆ**\n\n- Weโre young (just a year old) and you will be getting in at the ground level\n- We have an unbelievably engaged team, with world-class people in every department (from video production to research to copywriting and design)\n- Our clients are fantastic. We only take on a handful and are incredibly selective in who we work with\n- Weโre a remote company and youโve the freedom to work from anywhere in the US.\n- Weโre going places.\n\n**This position is the right fit for you ifโฆ**\n\n- You are someone who completely understands how WordPress works at the code level. You have built your own custom themes/plugins and you know how to extend WordPress core.\n- You understand how REST APIs work and you are comfortable consuming RESTful web services, either via the client (AJAX) or the server (PHP).\n- You like finding smart and elegant solutions to coding problems, in line with WordPress coding and security best practices. Your code is clean, understandable and well commented.\n- You have solid knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML, Javascript/JQuery, CSS. Experience on any kind of front-end framework (i.e. Bootstrap) or Javascript framework (React, Vue) is a plus.\n- You are competent with version control systems (Git) and having experience with modern web development workflows and tools (Yarn, Gulp, Sass) is a plus.\n\n**You need toโฆ**\n\n- Like a big workload and be comfortable working quickly. As a company we take writing seriously. Great English and attention to detail are essential.\n- Be someone we love working with! Fit comes first, above everything else for us. If you donโt โspark joyโ for the team, no matter how good you are, we wonโt take you.\n\nNearly all of our communication is written (we use Basecamp 3 and are big fans of it), but weโd like you to be comfortable getting on the occasional call too.\n\n**You will be needed for the followingโฆ**\n\nThroughout each project, we have five core needs for development.\n\n**1. Lay the foundation**\n\nSetup of a clientโs domain and hosting, and integration of a payment gateway, membership plugin, affiliate plugin and email platform.\nAs a team, we consider ourselves โmixed online course artistsโ.\nMost clients already have websites, hosting and email platforms. Create a stunning email capture page**\n\nHere are two examples from some of our clientsโฆ\nhttps://theweekendwoodworker.com/\nhttps://artofcoaching.com/\n\nFrom our design teamโs PSDs, everything you create needs to be wonderfully responsive, and no stone (from the thank you page to a nicely formatted confirmation email) left unturned.\n\n**3. Pay will be set at a competitive hourly rate, fixed.\n\n**To applyโฆ**\n\nPlease write to [email protected] with ONE example of a responsive page you have coded, along with a brief pitch on why you think youโd be a great fit.\n\nDo not send more than one link or your entry will be disqualified.\n\nDo not apply through our website or your entry will be disqualified.\n\nAlso, please do not send a resume, CV or attachment of any kind. We donโt care where you went to college (or that you even went at all)โโโall that matters is whether you can do it.\n\nWe wonโt be able to get back to everyone, but for those who stand out, we will send a list of interview questions in writing, then, for the few we like best, set up a brief call to discuss the opportunity.\n\nThe deadline for submissions is June 10, though those who apply sooner have an advantage.\n\nWe will pick two candidates from interviews to begin a paid two-week trial (to assess on-the-job performance and cultural fit).
