About the job:
Come help us lay the foundation for the future of agriculture! We are a team of innovators who have been at the forefront of empowering farms to use their data to become more productive and more sustainable for nearly 15 years. At AgSquared you will have the unique opportunity to help build a suite of products that is truly impactful on a global scale, while working with a fantastic team of talented, down-to-earth people who love their work and love working together.
What we do:
At AgSquared, our mission is to help farms become more sustainable and adopt a greater level of transparency without sacrificing the productivity and profitability that allows them to stay in business. We accomplish this by outfitting farms with a technology stack that allows them to gather data from the field, process it, and move it into the hands of those who need it, ultimately allowing them to evolve into more modern, data-driven businesses.
Our background is in agriculture, and it shows. Our company was founded by two vegetable breeders, and this uniquely positions us to understand how to create software that will actually get used and actually have an impact. We focus relentlessly on making the day-to-day experiences of farm workers more enjoyable and friction-free by providing them with mobile tools to help them do their jobs better. Farm owners love us because their employees love us.ย
What you will do:
We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer to join our engineering team. Your primary role will be to expand our suite of ETL processes that convert raw data into processed forms that serve a wide variety of analytical purposes.
Our platformโs primary data architecture is structured to offer a high level of flexibility and configurability in the data collection process, so that each customer can fine-tune our mobile app to best fit into the way they run their farm, but this typically means that conducting analyses on raw data is relatively inefficient. As our platform has evolved and customers are relying on us to process increasingly large data sets for increasingly complex analyses, we have found that adding an ETL layer to extract and process the raw data into more usable forms gives us the best of both worlds โ we can offer the most flexible experience to field-based farm workers while being able to produce analyses of the collected data for decision-makers efficiently and on demand.
Until now we have been building these ETL processes on an as-needed basis, but we are ready to make this approach a more permanent and expansive feature of our platform. That is where you come in โ we are looking for someone to lead the effort to build out our ETL environment. In this role you will work closely with our companyโs CTO, the product owner, and the BI lead. You will make high-level strategic choices about how our ETL environment will be structured and how it will interface with the other components of our platform, and then you will take the lead in building it out.
AgSquared is a small, close-knit team, and so everyone here wears multiple hats. While your primary responsibility will be the development of our ETL environment, you will also have the opportunity to work on a wide range of different projects in our mobile app, APIs, backend, dashboarding platform, etc. Come prepared to expand your horizons and try lots of new things!
What you bring:
Necessary qualifications:
The core competencies and qualifications weโre looking for include:
10+ years of experience in designing and development of web and mobile applications, with heavy use of JavaScript frameworks, REST APIs and SQL
Ability to work independently, while retaining the ability to ask questions about proper architecture and domain knowledge
Deep understanding of enterprise architecture and patterns. Experience architecting ETL or similar processes
Experience with SQL and stored procedures
Experience with NoSQL databases
Experience with PHP 5.x
Experience with Ember/React/Angular javascript framework
Experience with Subversion
Experience with ES6
Experience with REST
Experience with SASS
Experience with Responsive Design
Experience with Linux management
Experience with remote working
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-Have (Not Required)
Experience with D3 or similar data visualization technologies
Experience with data sciences
Experience with Klipfolio
Experience with CSS animations
Experience with Cordova
Experience with Symfony
Experience with Puppet
We donโt expect you to know anything about farming, but if you do thatโs a plus!
What we offer:
AgSquared is an awesome place to work! We have been a fully-remote team since our company was founded in 2009, and we truly understand what it takes to run a remote workplace where people feel connected, empowered, supported, and set up for success. Some specific benefits include:
Work from wherever you want - As long as you have a stable internet connection and can overlap a portion of your work day with U.S. east coast hours, you can be anywhere in the world youโd like to be.
Excellent work-life balance - Work-from-home can become work-all-the-time without proper boundaries. At AgSquared, we have spent nearly 15 years fine-tuning how we help our team members thrive, both professionally and in life, while working remotely. We offer very generous paid-time-off and parental leave policies. We also encourage you to not only take vacations, but to also carve out the time on a day-to-day basis to spend time with the people who are around you. Itโs important that you take the time to go to your childโs school play or to have lunch with your mom, to walk your dog or have coffee with a friend โ remote work makes these things possible, and you will feel supported and encouraged at AgSquared to have that life outside of work.
Career development โ We encourage our team members to try new things and develop new skills during their time at AgSquared. We are a close-knit team - you will be in the loop on what everyone else is doing, and there will be plenty of opportunities to join your teammates on projects that help you develop new skills.
Opportunity to work with world-class specialists โ AgSquared doesnโt look like your typical tech company โ our average team member has 18 years of experience working in agriculture! If you are interested in creating technology for farms, there is no better place to start that journey.

\n\n* If you’re looking for a safe and cushy job at a WordPress mill or like plain and boring business websites that never change and are forgotten the minute after a visitor has left, please move onto the next job posting.\n\n* If you feel you need a “job” we may not be a good fit.\n\n* If you're not a wizard at creating WordPress templates and plugins from scratch then you'll need to brush up on that before applying.\n\n\n\n\nWe’re looking for creative, and self-energized individuals to partner with us bring life and energy into our operation so we can conquer the world (or at least a small part of it, )\n\nJonroc LLC is a web design and online marketing agency serving the entire US. We develop custom-built WP themes, plugins, and HTML5 websites for our clients. Our end goal is to be a world leader in creating interactive, cutting-edge, websites that push the limits of design and animation.\n\nAs we work towards the goal of building a reputation for creating the world's most unique and interactive websites we take on “Bread and Butter” business websites that are typically built using WordPress or straight in HTML5. The fact is that until we’re known primarily as a unique and “out of the box” web design agency, we have to build some basic business websites to pay the bills. However, we always give each client a website that is created especially for them and is optimized to convert as many visitors to leads or sales as their budget allows. So we'll add in mini-out of the box animations or graphic designs to business's websites as they allow, like this website: https://lakeside.vet/\n\nWhat Jonroc Brings to the Table\n\nWe bring our brand and reputation to the table with a strong drive for both company and employee growth. Since 2011 we’ve been honing in on our game and positioning ourselves to take our small agency to the next level. We’ve been building out an industry-leading marketing system to generate endless leads and create rapid growth for us (and you!). It's time to present the world with the new, faster, cutting edge version of Jonroc. With your help, we’re sure to get there in record time. \n\n\n* Competitive Salary, plus a bonus (or possibly ownership opportunities for the right person)\n\n* Youll be joining a brand new growing, intelligent team that will drive business change\n\n* Work from home (must have a professional office/area to video chat with clients)\n\n* You'll have the opportunity to make an impact within the team, applying the skills and methodologies you’ve learned\n\n* You'll be working for a company with an excellent culture, in a friendly and fast-paced environment\n\n* You'll be able to react to change with backing from the business (we're small so fluidity is one of our number one competitive edges)\n\n* You'll have the opportunity to solve complex business/technical problems to keep you engaged and interested in your work\n\n\n\n\nWhat You Bring to the Table\n\n\n* At least 5 years of website development experience\n\n* A fancy college degree or equivalent proof that you're a real PRO\n\n* Actively seek out new challenges on your own\n\n* Create front-end of interactive websites incorporating HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AJAX as well as other Web 2.0 techniques.\n\n* PHP Pro as it relates to WordPress\n\n* Full understanding of the WordPress architecture (hooks, filters, templates, etc)\n\n* Understanding of and experience with JQuery. We also use GreenSock and on many projects.\n\n* Be a product-oriented Web Developer creating and experimenting with new ideas that will engage and excite our customers\n\n* Adeptly develop HTML5 for SEO\n\n* CSS3 Pro (Flex, Grid, Bootstrap PRO)\n\n* Mobile Responsive from Scratch and/or Bootstrap PRO\n\n* Expert of responsive design techniques and principles\n\n* Passion for all things JavaScript, UI, and Front-End\n\n* Code quality is exceptional, semantically correct, and easily scalable.\n\n* Is experienced with cross-browser, cross-platform compatibility issues.\n\n* Familiarity with UX/UI design best practices\n\n* Experience with source control solutions (BitBucket/Git)\n\n* Has the technical depth to write and understand code specifications.\n\n* Has the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced atmosphere with minimal supervision.\n\n* Is able to proactively communicate and collaborate with customers, business analysts, and technical team members (both hired and contracted) to identify and resolve issues.\n\n* Candidate must be able to work in a collaborative, team environment as well as independently.\n\n* Strong customer focus and obsession with quality\n\n* Mentor junior software developers on design patterns, development best practices, and DevOps trade-offs\n\n* In Leadership – Do what’s right, even if it’s tough\n\n* In Collaboration – Leverage our collective genius, be a team\n\n* In Transparency – Be real\n\n* In Accountability – Recognize that if it is to be, it’s up to me\n\n* In Passion – Show commitment in heart and mind\n\n* In Advocacy – Earn trust and business\n\n* In Quality – Ensure what we do, we do well\n\n* Familiarity with Adobe graphic editing tools, such as Photoshop and Illustrator\n\n* We track time spent on project tasks down to the minute and roll up all task time to the overall project (ya this kind of sucks but it’s the best way to ensure budgets are met and projects are moving at a steady pace)\n\n\n\n\nSound like you? Send in your resume to [email protected] and keep in mind we’re a unique and creative agency. If your resume is not unique and creative, regrettably, I probably won’t read it. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\n If you’re looking for a safe and cushy job at a WordPress mill or like plain and boring business websites which never change and are forgotten the minute after a visitor has left, God Bless Your Boring Heart, but please move onto the next job posting. If you feel you need a “job” we may not be a good fit. We’re looking for creative, and self-energized individuals to partner with us bring life and energy into our operation so we can conquer the world (or at least a bit of it, )\n\nJonroc LLC is a web design and online marketing agency serving the entire US. We develop custom built WP themes, plugins, and HTML5 websites for our clients. Our end goal is to be a world leader in creating interactive, cutting-edge, websites which push the limits of design and animation. As we work towards the goal of building a reputation for creating the worlds unique and interactive websites we take on “Bread and Butter” business websites which are typically built using WordPress or straight in HTML5. We still get to play around with Greensock on basic websites, and our website is an infinite playground to build out new and exciting animated features and interactive experiences. The fact is that until we’re know primarily as a unique and “out there” webs design agency, we have to build some basic business websites to pay the bills. But we always give each client a website that is created especially for them and is optimized to convert as many visitors to leads or sales as their budget allows. Then we follow up with amazing online marketing campaigns and automated marketing techniques to bring their online reputation to a whole new level.\n\nWhat Jonroc Brings to the Table\n\nWe bring the brand and reputation to the table. Since 2011 we’ve been honing in on our game and positioning ourselves to take our small agency to the next level. We’ve built a fully functioning marketing system to generate endless leads and create rapid growth for us (and you!). Now we need to move away from our “Junior Level” upbringing and present the world with the new, faster, cutting edge version of Jonroc. With your help, we’re sure to get there in record time. We also cover all of the boring stuff like insurance, taxes, accounting, business credit, systems, workflows, etc. so you can focus on the fun stuff like working with clients to bring their vision to life. \n\n\n* Competitive Salary, plus a bonus (or possibly ownership opportunities for the right person)\n\n* Youll be joining a brand new growing, intelligent team that will drive business change\n\n* Work from home (must have a professional office/area to video chat with clients)\n\n* Youll have the opportunity to make an impact within the team, applying the skills and methodologies you’ve learned\n\n* Youll be working for a company with an excellent culture, in a friendly and fast-paced environment\n\n* Youll be able to react to change with backing from the business\n\n* You'll have the opportunity to solve complex business/technical problems\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat You Bring to the Table\n\n\n* At least 4 years of web and software development experience.\n\n* Communicative and clear under tight deadlines\n\n* Have strong personal organization and attention to detail while maintaining a high level of code quality\n\n* Actively seek out new challenges on your own\n\n* Create front-end of interactive websites incorporating HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AJAX as well as other Web 2.0 techniques.
