Localytics’ Product team is looking for a Director, Data Science to enable our customers to create better and more personalized mobile and web app experiences.
\n\nThis is an opportunity to collaborate with the world’s largest and most progressive mobile app publishers, and effect billions of end users around the world. You'll work closely with product and engineering to ensure the accuracy and interpretability of productized insights, and scalability of supporting infrastructure.\n\nExamples of questions you’ll be answering include:\n\n • What are good algorithms for predicting user behavior? How should we measure algorithm performance?\n • When can parallelism make your algorithm run faster? Slower?\n • How should we treat missing values when processing data for a training set? What are the costs and benefits of different techniques?\n • When should we expect to suffer from overfitting / curse of dimensionality? How can we preempt and compensate for it?\n\nAreas of Expertise:\n\n • Proven experience evangelizing ideas to non-technical stakeholders in a commercial setting.\n • Machine Learning: Practical experience with algorithms used to predict user behavior (churn, dormancy, purchase conversion, etc.) including: linear/logistic regression, clustering, recommender systems, decision trees and support vector machines.\n • Software Engineering: Proven ability to build web apps & APIs to go from research to production using a performant programming language (Scala, Java, Python, etc.).\n • Computer Science: Understanding of principals including search, retrieval, concurrency, recursion, traversal, reduction, and matching. Ability to scale out algorithms and demonstrate understanding of the problems that arise when doing so. Practical experience with distributed frameworks (Hadoop or Spark).\n\nQualifications:\n\n • 5+ years Statistics / Machine Learning\n • 5+ years concurrent Software Development\n • If PhD/Masters w/ no work experience, please include link to portfolio. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
