Cornershop Creative (https://cornershopcreative.com) is seeking an awesome, U.S.-based WordPress developer to join our 20+ distributed team.\n \nThe core responsibility for this position will be investigating, troubleshooting, and coding solutions for WordPress-based websites and applications for our non-profit and small business clients. The person occupying this role will spend his or her time making iterative changes and bug fixes to design, functionality, and backend improvements on websites Cornershop manages and maintains. Tasks may include setting up WordPress custom post types, fields and taxonomies; troubleshooting server errors and migrating sites to hosts; and minor HTML, CSS (SCSS), and JS coding for custom themes. Additionally, this position may be responsible for developing and maintaining custom WordPress plugins.\n \nOur ideal candidate is a hard-working, curious troubleshooter comfortable working independently with little supervision, but who also enjoys working as part of a team that includes developers and non-developers. Since we're a permanently distributed shop (not just during the pandemic), youโll get to work from home! Cool, right?\n \n**Specifically, the things weโre looking for include:**\n* Experience with receiving potentially vague end-user bug reports, recreating the issues, and diving into the codebase to quickly identify root causes\n* Significant experience with WordPress theming: template hierarchy, hooks, WP_Query, etc.\n* Strong knowledge of HTML5 markup and CSS3\n* Ability to write CSS/SASS for cross-browser, responsive design (not just by using Bootstrap)\n* Experience with FreshDesk or other comparable ticket management platforms\n* Decent JavaScript skills (particularly in jQuery and/or the Node.js ecosystem)\n* Experience managing codebases and deploying websites onto third-party hosts via git, and/or sFTP, making DNS record changes, etc\n* Past experience quickly and effectively maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting code written by other developers\n* Familiarity with command line tools like git, gulp and wp-cli\n* Ability to laugh at our stupid jokes (and the occasional good one)\n* Familiarity with current (and evolving) best practices in front-end dev regarding semantics, performance, cross-browser consistency, etc.\n* Ability to not lose your s#!% when you occasionally get feedback like โcan we make the logo bigger?โ or โchange the padding by 1pxโ (and then getting asked to change it back), which may happen despite our best efforts \n* Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment (we keep pretty busy!) and manage a workload of several projects at a time\n* Superb written and oral communication skills\n \n**Other stuff weโd love it if youโre good at, but arenโt requirements:**\n* Troubleshooting mySQL performance issues (and writing performant queries)\n* Familiarity with Apache/nginx configuration, tuning and troubleshooting\n* Ability to understand and work with common third-party REST APIs\n* Develop ingenious scripts to facilitate complicated cross-platform content migrations\n* Familiarity with common nonprofit solutions, such as Luminate Online, Salsa Labs, Engaging Networks, Salesforce, and/or other similar platforms\n* Remembering to un-mute yourself before talking on conference calls\n* Being passionate about progressive causes\n* Writing basic bash scripts and performing other devops/Linux sysadmin kinds of stuff\n \nCornershop Creative is an award-winning online services agency committed to listening carefully to our non-profit and small business clients and helping them achieve their goals. Our designs are beautiful, and our websites are creative and innovative. Learn more about us at https://cornershopcreative.com/.\n\nUS applicants only!\n\nCornershop is an equal opportunity employer.\n \n\nPlease mention the words **LOUNGE VOID ALONE** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xNDY=). \n[Note: we are open to remote work but only if you can spend a minimum of one day per week in our Belfast office.]\n\nTHE ROLE\nYou’ll be the person responsible for building the front-ends to Opal, a cloud platform to create and manage Structured Documents: documents represented as data, created and managed programatically.\n\nYou'll be using JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS to make the user experience sing. We don’t want your typical ugly enterprise app: it has to be elegant, delightful to use, and enticing during a demo.\n\nAs well as a magnificent web front-end, you’ll be working with Microsoft’s Office 365 JS API & Office Fabric to build document editing services right into the Word app.\n\nOur clients will generally be financial firms in the world’s leading financial centers, primarily New York City and London. You may need to travel occasionally, but not often.\n\nWe don’t care about prior experience in our industry (fintech); frankly we’d love it if you came from a design agency or other non-enterprise background. We want someone to build a wonderful user experience, and you can learn about the business domain while doing so.\n\nYOUR RESPONSIBILITIES\nYou’ll be doing some or all of the following:\n\n\n* working with our product manager to refine the UI/UX requirements\n\n* coding the front-end for the web and Office apps\n\n* writing some basic test packs. We won’t go overboard but we aren’t flying by the seat of our pants, either\n\n* in partnership with the CTO, the technical lead, and the rest of your team, defining and implementing standards for how we work: our agile methodology, coding standards, development tools, deployment practices, and more. This is a green field development and we want to use tomorrow’s best practices today.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHO WE WANT \nWe are looking for a smart person with initiative and good judgment, who works well with others, and who will always look to balance the urgent needs of clients with the long-term technical architecture for our product.\n\nYou need to have:\n\n\n* excellent verbal and written communication skills\n\n* an eye for good design. You won’t be getting detailed wireframes, so your role will be at least partly that of a designer\n\n* a minimum of three years’ experience using client-side web technologies with a solid knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3, preferably gained from working at a design agency or product company\n\n* experience with ReactJS and knowledge of Node JS and webpack, as well as a unit testing framework such as Jest\n\n* prior experience working in agile \n\n* a pragmatic, get-it-done approach to things developers often don’t like e.g. writing tests, updating documentation, and talking to clients\n\n* a desire to learn new things. For example, we have a Ruby on Rails API, so there is an opportunity for someone who has good front end skills to become a full stack developer.\n\n\n\n\nA degree in Comp Sci or equivalent is great, but it’s not essential. It’s most important that you have good coding & design skills.\n\nAny of these things will help you stand out:\n\n\n* opinions – preferably grounded in knowledge and experience \n\n* experience on a team that has implemented a good continuous integration strategy (or if not, an awareness of the benefits of these strategies so you can champion them within the role)\n\n* Office 365 JS API experience would be wonderful (we know it’s a bit niche)\n\n* experience with Bootstrap or similar – we’ll be using Office Fabric, a similar library from Microsoft\n\n* working with RESTful API back-end components\n\n* development of a SaaS web product \n\n* experience working within a distributed development model i.e. with people in other locations and time zones. We’ll mostly be Belfast-based, but we may use specialists in other places such as sales engineers in London and New York. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT WE OFFER\n\nSalary is dependent on your experience and skillset. As well as the basics - competitive pay and benefits – we offer work on a greenfield product, in a small startup-like team. We’ll invest so you have good tools to work with and we’ll keep your skills up-to-date with a budget for technical books, training, and the like. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

View the full posting at: https://cornershopcreative.com/help-wanted-wordpress-developer-support-specialist/\n\nCornershop Creative (https://cornershopcreative.com) is seeking an awesome, U.S.-based WordPress developer to join our distributed team.\nThe core responsibility for this position will be investigating, troubleshooting, and coding solutions for WordPress-based websites and applications for our non-profit and small business clients. The person occupying this role will spend his or her time making iterative changes and bug fixes to design, functionality, and backend improvements of the dozens of websites Cornershop manages and maintains. Tasks may include setting up WordPress custom post types, fields and taxonomies; troubleshooting server errors and migrating sites to hosts; and minor HTML, CSS (SASS), and JS coding for custom themes. Additionally, this position may be responsible for developing and maintaining custom WordPress plugins.\nOur ideal candidate is a hard-working, curious troubleshooter comfortable working independently with little supervision, but who also enjoys working as part of a team that includes developers and non-developers. Since we're a distributed shop, youโll get to work from home! Cool, right?\nSpecifically, the things weโre looking for include:\n\n * Experience with receiving potentially vague end-user bug reports, recreating the issues, and diving into the codebase to quickly identify root causes\n * Significant experience with WordPress theming: template hierarchy, hooks, WP_Query, etc.\n * Strong knowledge of HTML5 markup and CSS3\n * Ability to write CSS/SASS for cross-browser, responsive design (not just by using Bootstrap)\n * Decent JavaScript skills (particularly in jQuery and/or the Node.js ecosystem)\n * Experience managing codebases and deploying websites onto third-party hosts via git, and/or sFTP, making DNS record changes, etc\n * Past experience with quickly and effectively maintaining/troubleshooting/supporting code written by other developers\n * Familiarity with command line tools like git, gulp and wp-cli\n * Ability to laugh at our stupid jokes (and the occasional good one)\n * Familiarity with current (and evolving) best practices in front-end dev regarding semantics, performance, cross-browser consistency, etc.\n * Ability to not lose your s#!% when you occasionally get feedback like โcan we make the logo bigger?โ or โchange the padding by 1pxโ (and then getting asked to change it back), which may happen despite our best efforts \n * Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment (we keep pretty busy!) and manage a workload of several projects at a time\n * Superb written and oral communication skills\n\n\n\n\nOther stuff weโd love it if youโre good at, but arenโt requirements:\n\n * Working with and customizing BuddyPress\n * Troubleshooting mySQL performance issues (and writing performant queries)\n * Familiarity with Apache/nginx configuration, tuning and troubleshooting\n * Ability to understand and work with common third-party REST APIs\n * Develop ingenious scripts to facilitate complicated cross-platform content migrations\n * Using Photoshop and understanding challenges in designing for the web\n * Working with nonprofit CRM tools such as Salsa, Luminate Online, Engaging Networks, Blue State Digital, and Classy\n * Remembering to un-mute yourself before talking on conference calls\n * Being passionate about progressive causes\n * Writing basic bash scripts and performing other devops/Linux sysadmin kinds of stuff\n\n\n\nCornershop Creative is an award-winning online services agency committed to listening carefully to our non-profit and small business clients and helping them achieve their goals. Our designs are beautiful, and our websites are creative and innovative. Learn more about us at https://cornershopcreative.com/.\nTo apply, send an email to [email protected] with the following:\n\n * Your rรฉsumรฉ, which should include an indication of which American state you live and work in\n * A brief cover letter, explaining why youโre excited about this opportunity\n * Links to work youโve done that we should see, such as recent websites, git repos, or contributed plugins/modules/themes\n * Ideal salary range\n\n\n\n \nU.S. Applicants only!\nPlease be sure to include all of these items โ to save everyone valuable time weโll throw out incomplete applications. Thanks for understanding.\nCornershop is an equal opportunity employer. \n\nPlease mention the words **BROCCOLI SMOOTH PULL** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xNDY=). \nYou are a unique full stack developer who is an expert in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Ideally, you've worked with modern libraries like Angular or React. You'd rather write your own JS than just settle for yet another plug-in. Testing your code is super important to you. You're familiar with the Node ecosystem and have heard of tools like Gulp and Webpack. You are really excited about the future of the JavaScript and are not afraid to use new features from ES2015. You know the browser, what it is capable of, and how it has evolved in recent years. You strive for pixel perfection in your UI. ๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.
