About Heliax

Heliax is a public goods lab which researches, develops, deploys, and maintains open-source protocols and mechanisms designed to serve the everyday needs of humanity. Using these protocols and mechanisms, we build vertically integrated products and networks that form coherent open systems which are capable of acting as an alternative to existing exploitative paradigms.

Two of the most notable vertically integrated protocols are Anoma and Namada. 

Anoma is an intent-centric, privacy-preserving protocol for decentralized counterparty discovery, distributed solving,and atomic multi-chain settlement – a radically novel architecture for decentralized protocols marking the beginning of the third generation of architectures ever since programmable settlement.

Namada is Anoma’s first fractal instance. It is proof-of-stake Layer 1 protocol for asset-agnostic, interchain privacy. The key innovations include ZCash-like shielded transfers for any assets (fungible and non-fungible), incentivised privacy sets, and interoperability with Ethereum via a custom bridge and IBC.

Heliax is a remote-first (but not remotely-only) team, currently composed of +50 cross-disciplinary members located around the world.

Role Overview

As a creative senior front end engineer you must be super passionate about crafting high-end front-end websites and applications. Along with being a kickass dev you should have a great design eye and a willingness to have design input into what you build. We are adopting an experimental approach and looking to push conventional UX/UI along with using motion design to delight users in the Web3 space.

Within the Design UX/UI & Growth team, you’ll be working in a small agile team of multidisciplinary designers, creatives, and writers all passionate about creating ideas, leading design, and content that engages users and communities on multiple levels.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & building front-ends from scratch from design prototypes, wireframes and specifications.

• Work very closely with the designer(s) on clarifying and providing bi-directional feedback on the designed wireframes, prototypes, and graphic assets both static and moving.

• Create scalable processes regarding development, deployment and user testing.

• Work closely with the Design UX/UI & Growth team, a team composed by designers, developers, and content writers on building, improving, and maintaining the existing and upcoming organization and project websites.

• Developer-friendly documentation writing for both internal use and external use, as the projects and its libraries are/will be open-source.

Qualifications

• You LOVE front-ends and have a passion for delivering delectable user experiences to a world-wide user base.

• You have experience delivering interactive web experiences, containing interactive illustrations, animations, parallax effects, … 🌈

• You have experience working with designers and know design related workflows

• Feel very comfortable with modern css and html. 

• Know the best practices and when to use what.

• Built and contributed projects in the web ecosystem for +5 years that have been deployed to an active user base, have mastered JavaScript/TypeScript and used frameworks such as Vue/React, Gatsby JS (please submit examples of your past work, e.g. commits to Git repositories, URLs to websites that are active).

• Have experience establishing processes (version control, designer assets, deployment, …) and being able to reuse components and modules.

• You’re an avid follower of the latest trends in the web development ecosystem and you’re excited about learning new technologies and contributing to them.

• Ability to build applications that are performant and provide great user experiences across browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari) and different sizes (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile).

• Self-organized and autonomous, expect minimal management in a flexible and remote work environment.

• Verbal and written fluency in English.

• You feel aligned with Anoma and Namada’s vision and goals in bringing financial privacy and self-sovereignty to everyone in the world.

Bonus Qualifications

• Have designed and or implemented WEBGL projects and or web projects using live data to effect visuals.

• Previous experience in a graphic design field.

• Worked on applications and end-user interfaces in the blockchain, decentralized open-source protocols.

• Have used applications or products of the blockchain industry before.

• Organized and/or participated in developer meetups or conferences and enjoys being involved with open-source communities.

• Fluency in other languages.

About the role

QIMA is looking to hire a passionate Full Stack Web Developer who is proficient in building static sites, web components, performant HTML/CSS, APIs and manages their work in an agile sprint cycle. We value developers who understand the goals of the team and bring solutions that are oriented with those goals.

You will be working as a core member of the Marketing Web Dev team to build and maintain the company's new marketing website.

Your daily responsibilities will be (in no particular order:)

·       Building templates with modern HTML, CSS and JS which are rendered in 11ty (a static site generation tool)

·       Write and maintain unit, e2e, and integration tests for your code

·       Writing and maintaining migration scripts to manage the content model inside of the CMS

·       Create and present solutions to problems such as: supporting 13+ languages across 10+ domains, managing multiple brands in the same code, designing automated integration and unit tests, building system to manage data reliably

·       Creating performant, tested, reusable web components using StencilJS

·       Debug problems with rendering, building, APIs, and databases

·       Documenting all your work by writing automated tests, inline docs, and in a document store

Requirements and Skills (in no particular order)

·       Passionate about web development and you want to ship quality work

·       Experience building components preferably using StencilJS or using any modern framework like Vue, Angular, React, etc. and you understand immutable data, shadow DOM and pre-rendering

·       Have proven experience in building and maintaining large static sites with tools such as (preferably) 11ty/eleventy, Hugo, Jekyll, Gatsby

·       Proficient understanding of HTML5, modern CSS (and its limitations on specific platforms), and the DOM

·       Proficient in Typescript and vanilla Javascript and how to use those to work with the DOM and can build components, interfaces and tools without libraries like jQuery

·       A good understanding of MySQL

·       A strong understanding of PHP and how to build safe maintainable code

·       Experience building secure and scalable APIs with Symfony 5 or greater

·       Ability to organize your work, document your solutions, and share your knowledge with the team

Memex is a personal & collaborative reader to collect, annotate and discuss websites, PDFs and Youtube videos. By yourself or with your team and community. We're in Beta and you can download it here: memex.garden.
This is made for DAOs, commercial and academic research teams, reading clubs and students with the need to collaboratively read and talk about web content, papers, Youtube videos and (soon) images.

Next, you'll be working on the collaborative curation and annotation workflows and on the sync between Discord and Memex Spaces to automatically extract links and conversations from there.

About the role

You’ll be the 3rd person joining our 2-person engineering team and will mainly work on the feature development. Upcoming are improvements to the collaboration experience, image support and the Discord sync.

While we use React, Typescript, Firebase and React Native, we’re not looking for a checklist of technologies. We’re looking for people who can demonstrate experience and deep knowledge about programming and the surrounding skills to ship projects. (We’re not open to junior positions at this moment.)

This means the ability to analyze problems, communicate how you’re going to solve them, the trade-offs involved with your approach, converting that into well-written code that your colleagues will have a good time continuing on and transferring knowledge. We value how much certain ideas and technologies fit the problem at hand and the overall architecture of the product, not which technologies are hot at at the moment.

We do combine simple ideas in exciting ways to allow us to achieve much more with a small team and create a developer experience only found in our company, with much more to come. This enabled that 95% of Memex was built by only 2 devs.

On our own we can’t possibly understand the majority of polarising topics we encounter every day. However, we all search, filter, read and take notes about content online and produce information valuable to other people.

Memex aims to make sharing recommendations and conversations become so easy that we can share what we normally are be too busy to share, build on each others’ research and easily compare contrary ideas

We think that for a healthy social media environment it needs:

• Companies that don’t have such strong profit maximisation incentives that usually lead to extractive business practices like attention/ad-based business models or lock ins
• People with the ability to modify their own experience of a newsfeed and notifications
• Freedom of speech, but not necessarily freedom of reach
• Reduce need for centralised moderation through communal and individual content moderation

We are a Steward Owned organisation in order to prevent profit maximisation incentives that lead to extractive business models and practices, while still giving the company the ability to grow big and fast. To enable that investors and team have a capped return on their investments and company can never be sold. We can get pretty rich if we are doing a good job, but not become billionaires.

We believe there is no collective intelligence without individual intelligence. For individual intelligence to be expressed in a digital space we need to be able to adapt our tools & connect workflows that individually suit our needs.
