**Ethyca** (https://ethyca.com) is a high-growth Series A startup building the trust infrastructure of the internet. Ethycaโ€™s platform powers data privacy for businesses facing regulations like GDPR and CCPA all over the world. We do this by building world-class tools, developer-friendly APIs, and secure, deployed applications to make it easy for our customers to integrate all their systems together to provide their users with powerful rights over their personal data.\n\nAs Ethycaโ€™s first technical writer, you will be focused on Ethycaโ€™s developer adopters onboarding to our fleet of open-source privacy products. The success of open-source products relies on great documentation and thus your technical expertise will act as the Welcome mat for all that land on our doorstep. Your writing style speaks to stakeholders in all enterprise verticals: engineers of every variety, lawyers, product managers, and business operations resources. Your super power is in translating complex technical concepts and value proposition to a clearly organized, concisely written, durable body of knowledge for any audience to understand. In this role, you will lay the foundations for a strong, long-term relationship between Ethyca and our growing developer community.\n\n## What you will do\nDocument deployment and product guides for Ethycaโ€™s open-source privacy tools, including Dockerized deployed agents, API services, and more\nDocument standards, guidelines, and best practices for engineers and peripheral business units\nOrganize documentation and make it easily discoverable\nWork closely with Ethycaโ€™s product team to stay current on product releases and roadmap features\nWork with Ethyca's marketing team to write and consult on technical-leaning marketing content\nMaintain a deep understanding of Ethycaโ€™s open-source products, the roadmap and the growing privacy landscape\n\n\n## Requirements\n* A self-starting **software engineer at heart**. With 3-5 years of engineering or technical writing experience working with SaaS software products, you know just enough SQL and noSQL, have implemented API and git documentation best practices, have gotten tangled in containerized deployments once or twice, and are familiar with cloud service management products like AWS, GCP, Azure. And we ๐Ÿ’™ markdown, and hope you do too!\n* **Empathetic to developers** and their needs. Youโ€™ve written developer-facing documentation for 1-3 years and are able to quickly adapt to community and internal feedback. Software engineers donโ€™t yet know that they should expect a lot from a data privacy product baked into their SDLC process. We are here to educate them and provide a best-in-class experience using our developer-focused open-source tools.\n* An **independent yet collaborative contributor**, your experience managing documentation projects independently in a complex, highly technical space means youโ€™ve worked with net-sec-ops, devops teams, data/base engineering teams, marketing, and product engineering teams and you know how and when to engage each.\n* A relentless **troubleshooter**. No problem too tough, no issue too elusive; we are looking for someone who will tackle the sometimes nebulous documentation from engineers and work through it, rather than around it. \n* An **egoless, yet expert** liaison between Ethyca open-source engineering teams and the developer community. Great writing is everyoneโ€™s responsibility at Ethyca, but sometimes we need a little help (okay, a lot of help!) from experts like you! You are an exceptional writer, nay, wordsmith, that understands that effective, concise writing leads to better comprehension of complex systems.\n\n## Benefits\n* Competitive cash and equity compensation\n* 100% medical and dental insurance coverage for you and your dependent(s)\n* Remote-friendly office hours and vacation policy\n* Sponsored company lunches and events\n* Parental leave and 401K plan\n\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. When itโ€™s safe to meet again, youโ€™ll have the opportunity to travel to NYC a few times a year for company events. We are currently unable to sponsor visas so require that you are authorized to work in the USA.\n\nWeโ€™re a data privacy company building a missing piece of the Internetโ€™s infrastructure: the trust layer that empowers users and businesses to manage data respectfully. Every day, weโ€™re solving challenges for customers and thinking about the future of human rights as society increasingly moves online. If this sounds intriguing and youโ€™re excited to shape that future with us, weโ€™d love to talk to you! \n\nPlease mention the words **PRICE DIFFER SLICE** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMjU=). \nAt Elastic, we have a simple goal: to solve the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the company behind the popular open source projects — Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats — we help people around the world do great things with their data. From stock quotes to Twitter streams, Apache logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. Diversity drives our vibe. We unite Elasticians across 30+ countries into one coherent team, while the broader community spans across over 100 countries.\n\nAbout The Role\n\nYou will be responsible for technical design and work in the Billing area of Elastic’s Cloud product. This area is responsible for services that power Elastic’s SaaS subscription billing platform. This role is very impactful to Elastic -- you will collaborate with partners from Finance, Sales Operations, and IT teams to provide end-to-end billing and invoicing capabilities for our users. You will lead by example and should participate in coding, debugging complex failure scenarios, and triaging bugs. You’ll analyze the current system, participate in roadmap and project planning efforts, and will have ownership for delivering it. You’ll be participating in project management efforts as the teams execute on plans, and you’ll have a role in communicating progress and status to partners.\n\nEngineering Philosophy\n\nEngineering a highly complex distributed system that is easy to operate via elegantly designed components and APIs is a non-trivial effort. It requires solid software development skills, and more importantly, a sharp mind and the ability to think like a user. We also care deeply about giving you full ownership of what you’re working on. Our company fundamentally believes great minds achieve greatness when they are set free and are surrounded and challenged by their peers, which is very transparent in our organization. We feel that anyone needs to be in a position to comment on truly anything, regardless of his or her role within the company.\n\nSome of the things you'll work on\n\n\n* Provide technical leadership for the Billing area of Cloud. \nSystems Administrator/ Network Engineer\n\nDesign it. Build it. Manage it. Make it hum.\n\nPivotal is seeking a Operations Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations (IOPS) team in designing, building and managing our physical, virtual and cloud based infrastructure.  \n\nDo you set up your own labs for fun? Have you ever tried to actually replace yourself with a small shell script?  Do you see networks and systems as two sides of the same coin? Do you think that the future of system infrastructures is more brilliant than the past? Then it’s time for us to talk.\n\nWho is Pivotal?\n\nWe are a global software and services company, and we want to transform the way the world builds software.  We’re building a Pivotal suite of software and services to let everyone, from big to small, create great software of their own. Our people are diverse, distributed and are world-class talents in their fields.  \n\nWhat does Pivotal IOPS do?\n\nIOPS is Pivotal’s Infrastructure Operations team.  We build and manage the core IT infrastructure for Pivotal which includes the core networks, systems, applications and services necessary for the rest Pivotal to function smoothly.  This includes everything from Wi-fi to DNS to firewalls to applications like IPAM and DCIM. We believe that practically everything can be defined and managed in software and we can manage switches, deploy VMs and write code.  We maintain the entire global infrastructure and as such, our staff is distributed across many locations.  We are diverse, welcoming and we work vey closely together.\n\nWhat do we need from you?\n\nSystems and network engineering talent and experience. You will be the senior IOPS engineer in EMEA, and most of your teammates will be in different time zones, so effective independence and comfort with remote collaboration is a must.\n\nYou should be fluid, comfortable and highly competent in a heterogeneous systems environment. We are Mac-heavy on the user side and *nix-heavy on the server side.  Which flavour of OS or distro shouldn’t matter to you. You should know Windows but prefer *nix. You should be equally comfortable in physical and virtualised environments for systems and networking. You should be familiar with cloud-based infrastructures such as vSphere, AWS and GCP.  You don’t need to be a full-tilt developer but we write and maintain code and you should be familiar at least a couple programming languages such as Python or Ruby. We also use agile methodologies and pair as much as possible, so familiarity with Kanban, XP, etc. is a big plus.\n\nWe will work with many teams, communicate with many people, work with vendors, stay within budgets and meet deadlines. We design, plan, implement and maintain and we’re all as likely to set up Nginx as we are to sit down with executives.   We share, communicate and train each other. We do travel as needed, but not all the time.\n\nWhat technologies do you use?\n\nSome keywords, of many, with no particular order or grouping: Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Meraki, NAC, LDAP, vSphere, Apache, Nginx, DNS, DHCP, config management such as Chef, Python, Ruby, OpenVPN, iptables, Graylog, MIT KRB5, AWS, NAS, iSCSI, git, SVN, IPAM, DCIM, SAML, DevOps.\n\nQualifications and factors for success:\n\n\n* Experience with small, medium and/or enterprise infrastructures.\n\n* The desire and ability to lead projects and potentially small teams.\n\n* Strong experience with virtualisation and cloud technologies such as VMware vSphere, VMware VCD, AWS, GCP, etc.\n\n* Experience working with and integrating SaaS providers.\n\n* Programming skills in relevant languages such as Python, Ruby or Perl, is highly desirable.\n\n* Strong networking skill and competency from Layer 2 to Layer 7, bonus for Cisco and Juniper experience.\n\n* Strong security skills including firewall experience, bonus for Palo Alto Networks.\n\n* Very strong experience with multiple flavours of Unix/Linux and Windows.\n\n* The ability to develop creative solutions to problems, complex and mundane.\n\n* Strong team collaboration skills along with the ability to work independently.\n\n* Experience working with globally distributed networks, sites and groups.\n\n* Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels of technical expertise and seniority, inside and outside the organisation, both verbally and in writing.\n\n* Education and certification is desirable but not required.\n\n\n\n\nPivotal is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer that will consider all qualified applicants, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, gender identity or expression, national origin, genetics, age, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Senior, Engineer, Cloud, Python, Ruby, Travel, SaaS and Nginx jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $125,000/year\n

\nAt Elastic, we have a simple goal: to solve the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the company behind the popular open source projects — Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats — we help people around the world do great things with their data. From stock quotes to real time Twitter streams, Apache logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. The Elastic family unites employees across 30+ countries into one coherent team, while the broader community spans across over 100 countries.\n\nThanks to our ongoing expansion we have the opportunity to grow our Site Reliability team. We're a part of the Elastic Cloud engineering team with a focus on solving Cloud operations problems and keeping the SaaS online, who aren’t afraid to get our hands dirty. We are the first line of consumers for Elastic's products and our experience helps influence the direction of the stack. While most organizations may have a single or a handful of Elastic Stack deployments, here you’ll be responsible for identifying, troubleshooting and reporting platform problems to product engineers (or fixing the code yourself) in order to ensure that the thousands of Elasticsearch clusters we manage are providing a stable and reliable service. We’re looking for people who are just as passionate about troubleshooting issues with distributed systems as they are to automate, code and collaborate to solve problems.\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* You will report and solve problems within the Elastic Cloud infrastructure services and collaborate on issues with product engineers\n\n* You will participate in SRE software engineering, writing code for the continuing reduction of human intervention in operational tasks and automation of processes\n\n* You will monitor the Elastic Cloud platform and Cloud infrastructure, responding to incidents, correcting and improving systems to prevent incidents and planning capacity\n\n* You will manage Cloud provider infrastructure, system deployments and product releases\n\n* You will be involved in resolving Elastic Cloud customer support issues\n\n* You will demonstrate and promote best practices for teams using Cloud platforms\n\n* You will participate in 24x365 on-call schedules\n\n\n\n\nExperience\n\n\n* You are either an experienced sysadmin with professional skills in Linux, preferably on distributed systems at scale, and a demonstrable interest in using software engineering to solve operational problems; or a software engineer with real interest, and ideally some experience, in Linux systems, networking, monitoring and automation.\n\n* You have at least three years of experience using a public Cloud; AWS, GCP, Azure, Softlayer or OpenStack\n\n* You are comfortable writing software to automate API-driven tasks at scale. SRE use Python and Go regularly but are also encouraged to contribute to the product codebase in Java, Scala, and Python.\n\n* You have used Ansible, Puppet, Chef or another config management suite, know where it's broken, and open to trying new alternatives\n\n\n\n\nKey Skills\n\n\n* Healthy knowledge of Linux (have compiled your own kernel at some point, know how to trace syscalls, understand TCP, care about the difference between sysvinit/runit/systemd, etc.)\n\n* Relentless desire to automate and build software tools\n\n* Desire to represent work in git, driven by a GitHub workflow through issues and pull requests\n\n* Love open source development, and have contributed to some project somewhere (doesn't have to be ours), whether through mailing lists, patches, documentation, etc.\n\n* Enjoy working remotely and the communication it requires\n\n* Love a diverse environment, working with men and women all over the world\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Information\n\n\n* Competitive pay and benefits\n\n* Stock options\n\n* Catered lunches, snacks, and beverages in most offices\n\n* An environment in which you can balance great work with a great life\n\n* Passionate people building great products\n\n* Employees with a wide variety of interests\n\n* Distributed-first company with employees in over 30 countries, spread across 18 time zones, and speaking over 30 languages!\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Admin, Engineer, Sys Admin, Elasticsearch, Cloud, Python, SaaS, Apache and Linux jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n
