The platform engineering organization provides the infrastructure and software capabilities RapidAPI employee developers use to build, test, deploy, instrument, operate, automate, analyze, and optimize their products and services.\nย \nAs a Staff SRE / Observability Expert, you will be responsible for defining, configuring, maintaining, and maximizing the services that make RapidAPIโs critical applications and infrastructure visible and investigable. RapidAPI leverages a number of observability and monitoring tools and is looking to bring on an engineer that will take this capability to the next level. You will be applying DevOps principles to manage the platform and help to drive functionality and adoption through continuous improvement, simplification, and automation. You'll work within a team of fellow platform engineers to make RapidAPIโs reliability best of breed.\nTo be successful in this role, you will need to bring a consultative approach combined with a technical skill set to both influence and implement meaningful solutions that can ultimately be self-served.\nย \nYour Impact & Responsibilities:\n-Implement, maintain, and consult on the observability and monitoring framework(s) that supports the needs of multiple internal stakeholders.\n-Manage StatsD, Graphite, Grafana, or similar to support custom metric delivery dashboards.\n-Select, consolidate, rollout, and evangelize log management tools.\n-Manage the Event and Operations Escalation Management policies in PagerDuty.\n-Grow and evangelize the capabilities of the Observability portfolio.\n-Build a practice of performance and tracing using APM.\n-Continue evolving observability tooling toward a standards-based self-service automated platform.\n\nYour Knowledge & Skills:\n-Deep technical knowledge and operational experience with one or more of the tools listed below or their equivalents:\n -Splunk, ElasticSearch, SumoLogic, or similar\n -DataDog APM, AppDynamics, New Relic, LightStep, Honeycomb, or similar\n -DataDog Core, SolarWinds, Nagios, CollectD, Elastic Metricbeat, or similar\n -Prometheus, StatsD, Graphite, Grafana, or similar\n -PagerDuty\n-Experience using Linux.\n-Ability to read and write integration scripts (Python, Ruby, or Go), programs and config files, as well as complex queries and alert definitions.\n-Experience defining, creating, and supporting monitoring dashboards.\n-Familiarity with configuration languages such as Chef, Ansible, and Terraform.\n-Comfort working across departments and stakeholders to evangelize and communicate observability expertise and standards.\n-An understanding of AWS; Lambda and Cloudwatch is a plus.\n\n\nThis is an opportunity to play a key role in a fast-growing and high-scale startup company distributed across the US, Europe, and Israel.
