**About Protocol Labs**\n\nProtocol Labs drives breakthroughs in computing to push humanity forward. Protocol Labs is a product-development lab, but behind the protocols and tools we build, behind the research and implementations, are passionate people, teammates and community members. Most teams in the Protocol Labs Network are fully distributed and work remotely around the world. Engineers, researchers, and operators work in the open to improve the internet โ humanity's most important technology โ as we explore new advances at the intersection of many exciting fields (crypto, networks, distributed systems) and cultures (startups, research, open source, distributed work).\n\n \n **Define and build elegant software for tomorrow's web.**\n\nWe are hiring Software Engineers to join the Web3 development community through PL Launchpad, our new cohort-based web3 onboarding program. Many developers are excited about the decentralized web and blockchains, but are looking for support, guidance, and expert training as they get started with their new web3 careers. We are building the on-ramp to web3, helping web2 experts upgrade & apply their existing expertise. \n\nStarting with a curated 6-week Web3 onboarding experience, youโll learn the fundamentals of protocols like IPFS, Filecoin, IPLD, and libp2p through hands-on labs, training, and projects, while forming relationships across the Protocol Labs Network and team-matching to a web3 role at the intersection of your skills & interests.\n\n**Launchpad Software Engineering in the Protocol Labs Network**\n\nLaunchpad is our program to accelerate the transition to web3 by providing a bridge to onboard new developers from the web2 community, equipping them with the skills, tools & connections to fluidly impact projects across the Protocol Labs Network. ***In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.***\n\n\n**Job type:** Full-time \n**Role:** Full-Stack Developer \n**Experience level:** Mid-Level, Senior\n**Industry:** Cryptocurrency, Cybersecurity, Network Security, Blockchain \n**Company size:** 11-50 people\n**Location:** San Diego, CA, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Tokyo, Japan or **Remote**\n\n\n**Join the Swarm**\n\nAt Swarm Technologies, Inc, we're developing innovative solutions to age-old information security problems - and we need your help.\n\nAt its core, PolySwarm is market design enabled by Ethereum smart contracts. We are programming a market that will produce crowdsourced threat intelligence (malware detection today, more tomorrow).\n\n** Blockchain experience not required! **\n\nWe're operating in a very new industry and we're prepared to bring candidates up to speed! Few sectors are hot as blockchain right now - talk about professional growth\n\nNo one has done this before. We'll get things wrong - and that's okay! With your help, we'll get fewer things wrong, identify mistakes earlier, and improve processes to prevent future missteps.\n\nYou're in on the ground floor - you'll have a say in what we do and how we do it. By joining Swarm Technologies, you'll be joining a dynamic team on the bleeding edge of information (computer) security and blockchain - answering questions few have thought to ask.\n\n**If you're interested in**\n- technical challenges that cannot be solved via iteration\n- blockchain (Ethereum smart contracts in particular)\n- information security\n- malware reverse engineering automation\n- market design (a la Who Gets What and Why by Alvin Roth)\n- software development\n- unknown unknowns\n\n**then we're interested in you!**\n\n**The Ideal Candidate Is:**\n- independently motivated & self-directing\n- introspective: able to identify weak spots / problem areas our existing processes or code and suggest / implement solutions\n- takes an interest in information security topics - huge props for capture the flag (CTF) participation!\n- enjoys developing software\n\n**At Swarm Technologies, you'll tackle both big-picture and tactical problems, the following are a few examples.**\n\n**Example Big-Picture Problems**\n\nThe Ethereum block time leaves a lot to be desired for a marketplace that intends to supplant millions of malware scans a day.\n\nHow do we best reconcile millions of scans daily with a 15 second block time and today's block size limits?\n\nIn sum: PolySwarm must scale and must support scanning artifacts (files) that may contain confidential information. How do we best reconcile these needs with a default-public, Proof-of-Work Ethereum ecosystem?\n\n**Example Tactical Problem**\n\nPolySwarm is a twist on a prediction market - where security experts attempt to "predict" whether a file / URL or network traffic is malicious or benign. Alongside their prediction ("assertion"), experts "stake" a configurable amount of Nectar (NCT), PolySwarm's crypto token.\n\nSuppose Expert A is lazy and Expert B is a hardworking, upstanding security expert. It would be bad if Expert A was able to simply duplicate the assertions coming from Expert B, exploiting Expert B's hard work for profit. If assertions are placed directly on the public Ethereum blockchain, Expert A can do exactly that.\n\nHow can we design a system that keeps the assertion secret (so Expert B is out of luck) until some configured time, after which assertions are revealed and payouts distributed appropriately?\n\n**The Ideal Candidate possesses demonstrable experience in some or all of these technologies.**\n\nPolySwarm employs the following tools & languages:\nPython\nDocker (+ Swarm, Services, Stack)\nKubernetes (+ Helm)\nTerraform\nAnsible\nSolidity\nReact\nJavaScript\nRust\n\nRefer to our GitHub for examples of our usage: https://github.com/polyswarm\n\n**We Offer**\n- Competitive salaries\n- Excellent health, dental, vision coverage\n- Paid vacation days\n- Travel (if you like). We have offices in San Diego, Puerto Rico and Tokyo and we often find ourselves travelling elsewhere. If travel interests you, we can scratch that itch.\n- Flexible work hours - outside of scheduled meetings, we don't care when you work, we care about your output.\n- Powerful servers, laptops, desktops - whatever you need to be most productive! \n\nPlease mention the words **PLUG POTATO EASILY** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yNTA=). ## General\nWeโre building a stable-value cryptocurrency with the intention of having a significant positive effect on the world. Everybody says that sort of thing, but we really mean it. We're looking for a software engineering dynamo with form and character who can help us modify and extend an Ethereum fork without making a mess.\n\nWorking on this project will require an expert knowledge of the Ethereum codebase (and specifically geth) and the inner workings of the EVM, a solid understanding of Go, an enthusiasm for testing (we use BDD and TDD), hands-on experience with cryptographic protocols, and a pretty good comprehension of how the web works. Bonus points if youโre familiar with testing smart contracts or web3.js. \n\nThe ideal person for this job is experienced, self-motivated, reliable and trying to the best all-round person they can be. Aside from that, experience with cryptocurrency, large-scale economics or financial services applications would be extremely advantageous. \n\n## Skills & requirements\nWe're a small group of people who value self improvement, honesty, humility and curiosity tempered with a healthy skepticism. We like people who do everything to the best of their ability, but accept their limits. The problems we're trying to solve can be tough, and no one person has all the answers. But we're excited to try and find solutions, and you should be too. \n\nIn terms of technical stuff, we require: \n\n- A minimum of one year's experience with Go, especially in reference to Ethereum. We only ship clean, well-tested, interface-first code. \n- Great communication. We're a distributed team, but we're also a lean startup. \n- Experience working remotely. It takes discipline and grit. \n- Some understanding of BDD, or at least TDD. We consider test coverage to be an integral part of good production code, and you should too. \n- A good understanding of Git. We love Git Flow like it's our own child. \n- Some familiarity with the terminal. We use Docker, as well as standard tooling like Makefiles and shell scripts.\n\nIt would also be super if you: \n\n- Have experience with crypto startups, ICOs, and the like. \n- Have spent a couple of years working with web technologies. A good grasp of HTTP, REST, RPC (ideally gRPC) would be highly advantageous. \n- Really enjoy refactoring.\n- Have tinkered with k8s.\n- Consider documentation to be as important as code. \n- Have any background in philosophy or economics. \n- Administer Linux boxes for fun and profit. \n- Have a deep and abiding love for vim or neovim. There may be a fight if you fall on the Emacs (ie. wrong) side of the tracks. \n- Think tmux is just super. \n \n\nPlease mention the words **KIWI RHYTHM INDEX** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yNTA=). Disintermediate global and local marketplaces with the power of decentralized communities!\n\nWe launched Ethlance (https://ethlance.com) in January 2017. At the time, it was one of the first functional applications to go live on Ethereumโs MainNet and to this day is one of the most used. Districts are a generalization on Ethlanceโs form and function, built using Clojurescript, re-frame and web3.js. We are a 100% open source and remote project, and are looking to secure our first engineering hire to accelerate the deployment of a framework for launching new districts.\n\nThe ideal candidate will have:\nExperience with building front-end for web applications using Clojurescript\nExperience with using re-frame v0.8 library\nIs willing to accept salary paid in Ether/Bitcoin cryptocurrency\n\nNice to have:\nDeep understanding of how the Ethereum network works\nExperience building smart contracts with Solidity\n\n\nAbout district0x\n\nThe district0x Network (https://district0x.io) is an open source collective of decentralized marketplaces and communities, known as districts. Districts exist as decentralized autonomous organizations on the district0x Network, built upon a standard open source framework comprised of Ethereum smart contracts and front-end libraries. This contract framework provides districts with the core functionalities required to operate an online market or community. Namely, the ability for users to post listings, filter and search through listings, rank peers and amass reputation, and send invoices and collect payments.\n\nWe completed a fundraising round in July of 2017, and weโre laying the foundation for launching 5 more districts in the coming year. Weโre dedicated to a long term vision of community driven development and governance. Weโre committed to making the new technology behind the Ethereum network easy to use for all users. We believe fair and democratic user-owned networks will supplant virtually all centralized marketplaces in existence today. What we build will be free, transparent, and publicly available forever. Come build it with us!\n\nSend your applications to [email protected] \n\nPlease mention the words **MAMMAL LOOP PUT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yNTA=). ๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site.
