You have 5 to 10 years managing a payroll team coupled with accounting knowledge to fill this important role.  You will be responsible for the accurate processing of the Company’s global payrolls, including Canada, US, UK, Israel and corresponding with third parties to process payroll in other jurisdictions. You will leverage your extensive payroll knowledge across various countries to oversee the payroll operations, lead implementation of best practices, and ensure appropriate controls are in place to mitigate against risk. You also possess strong written and oral communication skills and the willingness to take initiative, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and foster an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement. You have a track record of challenging the status quo, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions that help automate or add efficiencies to the payroll function.\n\n\nWHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:\nReporting to the VP, Controller, this role will be responsible for the following:\n\n\n• Review and resolve issues relating to the semi-monthly payrolls in Canada and the US, bi-weekly payrolls in the UK and monthly payrolls in Germany, Dubai, Singapore and Israel.\n• Manage, mentor and coach the Payroll Analyst.\n• Ensure compliance with current and changing payroll regulations in all countries serviced and raise any concerns to adopt and implement.\n• Lead the implementation of a new global payroll system and the related integrations (Bamboo, Sunlife etc.)\n• Work with the Treasury team to ensure timely and sufficient funding of all payroll bank accounts, and assist in the cash forecasting of payroll-related items.\n• Ensure all Group RRSP, UK pensions and 401k contributions are reconciled and remitted.\n• Review and preparation of month-end payroll-related journal entries in Oracle NetSuite accounting system. \n• Review the reconciliations of the related balance sheet accounts\n• Prepare all payroll-related remittances (for all jurisdictions)\n• Reconcile all social taxes on a monthly basis (for every jurisdiction applicable, EY handles the small payrolls)\n• Ensure compliance with Payroll process SOX controls and continue to strengthen the controls while ensuring efficiency.\n• Correspond with fellow employees on any payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner\n• Act as a liaison between the Finance and HR departments\n• If applicable, lead the transition of payroll operations for any newly acquired companies.\n\n\n\n\nYOU ARE SOMEONE WITH:\n• Payroll Certification (CPP, PCP or CPM)\n• 5 to 10 years experience managing a global payroll team\n• Strong analytical, problem-solving solving and organizational skills including the capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding the broader context and implications\n• Effective verbal and written communication\n• Able to work independently and within cross-functional teams, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment\n• 2 - 5 years of accounting reconciliation and journal entry preparation\n• Knowledge and experience processing payroll based in Ontario and Quebec\n• Exposure to US and international payrolls\n• Experience with Ceridian Dayforce would be an asset\n• Strong Excel skills and experience in Google Sheets\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU’LL LOVE ABOUT US:\n🏦 RRSP/401(k) Matching \n🏥 Comprehensive Health Plans \n📅 Flexible Paid Time Off \n✈️ Travel Experience Credit \n🧘 Annual Wellness Credit \n🥗 Team Events and Monthly Lunches\n💻 Home Office/Commuter Credit \n🌅 Work From Anywhere Program \n🍼 Parental Leave Top Up \n🌍 Adventure Pass\n\n\nOUR PROCESS:\nPlusgrade is an equal-opportunity employer and is committed to providing an accessible recruitment process.
