RevenueCat is looking to bring on our first engineer focused on keeping our servers happy as we scale and to help other engineers to not bring them down. We're already processing 100M+ requests per day and expect to be close to a billion by the end of the year. As the first infrastructure engineer at a small, growing company, you'll own everything from sharding Postgres and uptime, to on-call rotations and security.\n\n### About Us\nRevenueCat is an API that makes selling subscriptions in your mobile app easy. We launched as part of Y Combinator's summer 2018 batch and today are tracking subscriptions for more than 2 million mobile subscribers, and our providing subscription infrastructure for over 1000 apps. We are a mission driven, remote-first company that is building for the long term.\n\n### Our Stack\nRevenueCat consists of a mobile SDK and web dashboard that make calls via a REST API to a Python backend backed by Postgres. We use Heroku and AWS for most of our infrastructure right now, but we are constantly evolving as we scale and add new features.\n\n### About You\n- You have at least few years experience working as an SRE, DevOps Engineer, or Operations Engineer.\n- You've worked with scaling relational database systems beyond 1000s of queries per second.\n- You are no stranger to the AWS dashboard and can name all 76 products from memory (just kidding about the second part, but if you can we'd be impressed but also confused).\n- You have excellent communication skills and excited to working with a fully distributed and asynchronous team.\n- You have experience designing internal developer experiences with regards to processes and practices.\n\n### In the first month, you'll\n- Learn the current state of our system architecture, the shape of our traffic, and cost structures for scaling.\n- Understand and begin to improve our current systems for monitoring and observability.\n- Identify simple improvements to our deployment process and implement them.\n- Review our past years worth of post mortems and begin to prioritize changes based on our history\n\n### Within the first 3 months, you'll\n- Be responsible for overseeing and monitoring overall system health.\n- Make meaningful improvements to our infrastructure configuration, security, and management.\n- Own our on-call procedures and scheduling.\n- Make meaningful improvements to our deployment process that increases deployment velocity while also reducing errors.\n- Mentor the rest of the team on reliability and security.\n\n### Within the first 6 months, you'll\n- Become the most knowledgeable person on the team about our infrastructure.\n- Have an advanced intermediate understanding Postgres and other systems that we are highly reliant on.\n- Have made significant improvements to the way we ship and monitor code.\n\n### Within the first 12 months, you'll\n- Work with CTO and CEO to determine hiring needs and plans to scale our infrastructure team.\n- The ability to design and build systems to achieve any reasonable product goal.\n\n### What we offer\n- $114k-$150k 0.35%-0.65%, independent of location\n- Employee health, vision, and dental plans\n- Unlimited vacation, remote work, and WFH\n- A wellness-focused, long-term oriented work environment \n\nPlease mention the words **MEMBER SESSION ROUND** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMg==). You’ll be developing the cloud backend software running on our IoT platform that turns these installations into smart storage devices. You’ll write applications that will bring our cutting-edge energy efficiency algorithms to life, having a real world effect on our customers’ energy savings.\n\nYour Responsibilities\n\nYou will work directly with the Chief Technical Officer and the Director of Controls Development on the following strategic initiatives:\n\n\n* Turn algorithm concepts from our Data Scientist into production software that operates industrial IoT systems in the field.\n\n* Apply optimization and machine learning concepts to build software services, from the IoT edge to the cloud, that improve energy savings.\n\n* Design a cloud service & APIs to connect energy management appliances to clients.\n\n* Implement data processing software for physical analysis.\n\n* Build a web-based analysis platform for generating actionable reports on our system’s performance.\n\n* Generate metrics to drive beautiful & intuitive display of energy savings data in our web apps.\n\n* Many other engineering / software projects not specifically outlined here.\n\n\n\n\nWho You Are\n\n(a general guide - we can bend these rules for an incredible candidate!) \n\n\n* B.S and/or M.S. in computer science, computer engineering, or similar.\n\n* 2+ years of industry experience in software development, testing, and analysis.\n\n* Excellent software design instinct; object orientation should be core to your thinking.
