Our team's main goal is to keep our customers happy and deliver a consistently great experience for running payroll for their employees.\nHere’s what you’ll do day-to-day:\n\n\n* Build and maintain a system of reusable UI components and documentation that empowers all of Gusto’s payroll experiences including React.js, Typescript, Javascript, CSS, and HTML.\n\n* Develop tools to ensure that the quality, performance, and accessibility of Gusto’s reusable components continuously improve.\n\n* Collaborate across teams in building accessible, modular, performant frontend experiences.\n\n* Create and improve on tools for developing performant, accessible experiences for our customers.\n\n* Contribute architectural improvements to Gusto’s frontend infrastructure.\n\n* Optionally, build and maintain APIs using Ruby.\n\n\n\nHere’s what we’re looking for:\n\n\n* 5+ years of technical experience in a frontend engineering (or) a full stack engineering role.\n\n* Highly proficient in front-end Java script technologies, preferably React.js or Typescript.\n\n* Experience in building backend APIs is an added advantage but not mandatory.\n\n* Experience cross-functional collaboration with Design and/or other non-technical teams.\n\n* Experience in building UI components that are modular, composable, flexible, maintainable, and well-documented.\n\n* Experience with a JavaScript testing library for unit, integration, and end-to-end validation.\n\n* Appreciation for a collaborative, test-driven environment.\n\n* Experience turning wireframes and mockups into responsive, accessible, tested code.\n\n* Well-structured, easily maintainable, well-documented code that balances beauty and pragmatism.\n\n* Passionate about creating inclusive, accessible experiences for everyone.\n\n* Familiar with emerging trends in frontend web application development, including the various approaches to styling (CSS Modules, CSS-in-JS, Sass, etc.), component libraries (Material UI, Carbon, Polaris, and Lightning), accessibility tooling (aXe, Lighthouse), and observability (Fullstory, etc.).\n\n\n\nLearn more about the Payroll experiences team:\n\nOur team is a group of folks whose primary goal is to build user experience in our flagship Cloud product, which is used by Gusto’s Customers to run the payroll for their employees and contractors.
