You will collaborate closely with your fellow team members from the product, apps, design and QA communities of practice. \n\nAs a Senior Backend Engineer you will provide guidance and coaching around technical good practices as well as playing an active role in the Development Community of practice. \n\nOur tech stack includes:\n\n\n* AWS for all of our Infrastructure\n\n* Docker\n\n* Python / Flask\n\n* MySQL\n\n* MongoDB\n\n* Redis\n\n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Designing, developing and deploying backend services with a focus on high availability, fault tolerance, low latency and security. \n\n* Your team will take  full end to end responsibility of the services your team owns, from development through to production operation\n\n* Collaboration with team members across multiple functional areas to ensure delivery of the best solutions for our customers.\n\n\n\n\nSkills needed\n\n\n* Significant software engineering experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (we use Python)\n\n* Great teamwork and communication skills in English, comfortable preparing high quality documentation and designs to aid understanding and knowledge sharing. \n\n* Understanding of microservice architectures, container based 12 factor apps and cloud native patterns around fault tolerance.\n\n* Practical experience applying Domain Driven Design and understanding the principles behind building software that is testable, observable, reliable, and sustainable to maintain.\n\n* Experience building contract first services and adopting patterns and frameworks to enable appropriate automated testing at unit, contract, service and end to end levels. \n\n* Experience building services that can be deployed on demand, quickly and with quality. We’re a close-knit, scrappy, and hardworking small team, and that means we’re looking for talented engineers who can offer more than just code. As a backend engineer, you'll be responsible for a lot of very important aspects of the product. In particular:\n\n• Building and maintaining our lab integrations. We work with over 30 lab companies but still need to build deep technical integrations with most of them. You'll be building our integrations pipeline to make it fast and efficient to add new labs to our platform.\n• We're currently in the process of integrating with several large Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs). You'll be the one working with these labs and EHRs to ensure the integrations are seamless from start to finish. \n• Owning the development of our labs testing API. We're committed to having the absolute best API for lab testing. An API that's clean, easy to understand, and that makes developers excited to integrate with us. \n• You'll be in charge of continuing to improve our API documentation using the latest technologies to make beautiful documentation. We use Stoplight.io to host our OpenAPI docs. \n• Developing our cloud infrastructure to support our fast growing user base and API customers.\n\nAs an early engineer, you’ll be able to grow as a leader in your role and define the technical direction and vision for the company. You’ll have a lot of autonomy, responsibility, and ownership. You’ll also help define and contribute to the culture of the company as a whole.
