About the role
We’re looking for a senior platform engineer to architect, develop and manage our infrastructure. Along with the other members of our platform team you will be responsible for the reliability, security and scalability of our infrastructure.
You will have strong practical experience with AWS, Docker and Terraform. You have real world experience with real-time, event-driven data pipelines and technologies such as Kafka. You have experience in scaling SQL-based data stores such as PostgreSQL (Amazon RDS, Aurora).
You will be on call as part of our platform team rotation. We have platform team members in the USA and in Australia and your rotation will generally be during standard daylight working hours CET. You will be on call during weekends (and your compensation will reflect this).

Build a modern API application atop a functional architecture in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and/or Sinatra
Build well factored, maintainable, and tested code using RSpec with Test & Behavior Driven Development (TDD & BDD)
Understand and build using strong architectural patterns beyond the standard MVC of Rails
Have a strong sense of OO programming and Architectural patterns
Be able to work with, mentor, and guide a distributed team of developers
Qualifications
Who you are:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, related field, or equivalent practical experience
3+ years of software development experience
Experience using design and architecture patterns
Strong sense of ownership, ability to work independently, and proven track record of driving products
Shipped consumer API used concurrently by thousands of users.
Nice to Have:
Full stack knowledge of technologies like Ruby, SQL, Linux, React, and AWS would be highly desirable
Experience working with big data technologies like Spark
DevOps experience - Docker, k8s, linux/unix
