\nWe are looking for Scala ML engineers to help us build and maintain our machine learning platform. At Findify, we make extensive use of data-collection, processing and machine learning algorithms to help our merchants provide better search and recommendations to their customers. You would be responsible for building and improving our machine learning algorithms to help us achieve this goal.\n\nOur tech stack:\n\nWe always strive to use the most suitable tool for the job, so our stack is constantly evolving. Currently, our backend is written mostly in Scala and Node.js. We use Scala for data processing and to power our machine learning algorithms. Node is used as a web framework to facilitate the interaction with our customers via various APIs. We make extensive use of AWS, and use any component we find suitable within our architecture, so we can focus on building our proprietary tech.\n\nWe’re not afraid to challenge our choices, we love open source and above all, we’re a product driven company so technology is at the core of everything we do. You can check out our full stack on StackShare.\n\nOur development culture:\n\nWe are a small team that moves fast and iterates. We run weekly sprints, code reviews, testing, and once your code is submitted it gets pushed to production through our continuous deployment infrastructure (Jenkins). We put a lot of emphasis on code style, cleanliness and robustness. You will get to work with amazing engineers specializing in machine learning and distributed systems.\n\nWhat you can expect from us:\n\nYou’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on the product, company vision and culture. You will get to work with the latest technologies out there, without being bound to any legacy. We will never limit your creativity, never shut down ideas before testing them with customers and we will never be boring! it's going to be an exciting ride!\n\nIf this sounds like a company you’d love be a part of building, and you’ve got the skill set, please get in touch with us!\n\nWe’d love to hear from you!\n\nSkills and requirements\n\nWhat we're looking for:\n\nThe most important thing we are looking for in a candidate is proven passion for programming and problem solving: a Github/Stackoverflow account, an interesting project you can share, or a blog you write will go a long way.\n\nWe are a distributed team, so you can work from anywhere you want, as long as it's 2 hours +/- from CET. (The timezone is an important requirement for us at this stage). Located in Dublin? A huge plus.\n\nIt’s really important to us that you have the ability to adapt to the company’s work processes using the agile-scrum methodology, and using tools such as Jira and Slack. Not only because of our remote working culture, but even more so because of this, you need to be really awesome at communicating, and to be organized and self-driven.\n\nOh, and you need to want to have fun :)\n\nYour responsibilities:\n\n\n* Improve the search relevancy and recommendation quality for our 1500 merchants, while keeping an eye on recent academic research in this field.\n\n* Implement new ML algorithms and improving old ones to make the Findify search and recommendations quality better.\n\n* Setup the data processing pipelines to feed these ML algorithms\n\n\n\n\nThe basics:\n\n\n* Experience building complete ML solutions: source data collection, feature engineering and model training.\n\n* 2+ years of professional experience with Scala. The candidate should be able to work on the full development cycle of an application, from designing a system, to validate by the code the possible assumptions and maintain/improve an existing system.\n\n* 5+ years of general developer experience. Experience in design and development of backend systems without major external supervision. We are looking for a candidate that can be autonomous and own their projects.\n\n* Computer Science education. We use a lot of cool algorithms in the Findify backend code, we really care about O(N*logN).\n\n\n\n\nBeyond the basics:\n\n\n* NoSQL: experience with Cassandra/Kafka\n\n* DevOps: experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker\n\n* Scala: akka, akka-stream, akka-http, cats\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
