InvergHQ is Hiring a Full Stack Developer as their second technical hire. Theyโll be working directly with the CTO and the other founders. This is an opportunity to be an early hire, work in all parts of the system, and help a fast-growing business go to the next level.\n\n## Who We Are\n\nAt its core, Inverge is a platform that helps brands and wholesalers connect with their retailers and gives everyone the tools they need to sell more easily and efficiently.\n\nOur users are able to have one tool to get their products in the hands of customers anywhere they are with minimal effort. They can dive in deep and run every aspect of their business or just use a single piece. This could be a brand connecting to thousands of retailers across the country for both drop shipping and replenishment, sharing a single uniform catalog, managing all of their warehousing and fulfillment for orders coming from any channel; be that a retailer, B2B website, marketplace, or B2C website. This could also be a small store looking to simplify its inventory management and understand its customers better.\n\nOur existing team is composed of three founders. All are based in the areas surrounding New York City.\n\nSince our soft launch, weโve been able to attract well-known brands and as we gear up for a formal launch and an aggressive marketing/sales initiative, weโre expanding our team.\n\nWe are preparing to grow rapidly and are looking for the right person to join us. This will be a critical role in our technology growth and will work directly with the Co-Founder and CTO.\n\nHaving your hands in all parts of the system, youโll have an opportunity to build a team around you and shape how we serve our users.\n\n## About the Role\n\nThis is an opportunity to face a variety of challenges and find what excites you.\n\nIf you love data, analyzing it, and building algorithms to make peoplesโ lives easier, there are tons of opportunities for that.\n\nIf you love communicating with different APIs and bringing information together, the opportunities are virtually limitless.\n\nIf you love taking things apart and seeing how you can make them work better or simplify things, there is plenty of opportunity for that.\n\nIf you love solving problems we are a team that loves to find the hardest problems and work together to solve them.\n\nOur team is curious and always looking to grow and learn.\n\nYouโll have your hands in the entire system. This will include updating and optimizing existing features, fixing bugs, and developing new features.\n\nYouโll also be critical in our transition to a serverless API-based architecture and will be facilitating that process. Youโll have an important role in implementing the standards and procedures needed for collaboration as we grow our development team.\n\nThe job will start full-time and from the beginning youโll be working closely with the CTO to be trained on the usage of the in-house built PHP MVC dependency injection framework that the main application is built on. Once a fundamental understanding is reached, youโll jump right in on projects that need to be addressed right away which will grow in complexity as their experience grows.\n\nThis hire weโre making will be the second technical member on the team and will play a critical role in the initial growth of the company. Youโll be working with the entire founding team but primarily with the CTO.\n\nIn the beginning, youโll be working primarily with PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery. This will transition into primarily Node.js and Serverless Framework replacing the PHP. To a lesser extent at the beginning, you will also be working with React and React Native. You will be building on AWS using EC2, RDS, Elasticache, Lambda, and API Gateway. The collaboration will happen using Git (Bitbucket), Jira, and Trello.\n\nOur day-to-day direct communication is through Slack and email. We manage projects and the roadmap using Trello and Jira. We manage the codebase using Bitbucket.\n\nThe start date is as soon as possible. We are beginning to scale and need to grow our team to continue the development of and maintain our current platform.\n\n## Projects and Day to Day Work\n\nThere is a significant amount of autonomy. There are clear goals and priorities but the actual implementation and timing are flexible. For the most part, our new hire is expected to be self-motivated and complete their work. Youโll have access to the rest of the team as needed but shouldnโt expect to be babysat as long as their work is being completed.\n\nA majority of your time initially will be spent working on the existing PHP/MySQL application. We have many features that need to be added on an ongoing basis. There are also numerous areas that need optimization or tweaks to simplify support. This will range from developing stand-alone applications such as activity tracking across the entire application to adding an interface for changing the comparison date on a sales dashboard to debugging image ordering in existing API integration to developing an entirely new API integration for managing products, inventory, and orders. That initial work will transition to developing these features in the serverless architecture using Node.js.\n\nWe are in the process of exposing the entire application via API. A major part of this role will be assisting in this transition, slowly swapping out the PHP backend with a new implementation in Node.js. You would be expected to have good fundamentals and ability to code in PHP but primarily be experienced in and interested in Node development.\n\n## Long Term and Growth\n\nIn the long term, this person will be managing a team, setting priorities, and overseeing development.\n\nYou will have the opportunity to work with a variety of languages and frameworks. You will not be expected to know everything but show a track record of being curious and wanting to learn. There will be a lot of opportunities to find the projects that you find the most interesting, be it integrating with different APIs or optimizing AWS infrastructure, or developing Native modules. You are coming into a company with a solid foundation at a time when everything is being looked at for improvement. You will hopefully have a huge say in how things are structured and how projects are prioritized.\n\n## Who You Are\n\nWe are looking for someone who is self-motivated and ready to take initiative. We are not looking for someone who needs to be told what to do on a daily basis. We are looking for someone who loves solving problems but doesnโt always go with the first thing that comes to mind. You also consider how this solution might be able to solve the next problem too while being mindful of when spending more time on something in the short term is appropriate. You will be working in a rapidly changing environment and will not be expected to know everything but be very interested in learning new things. Youโll be expected to have worked on teams in production environments and bring their experience and best practices to aid us in this growth period.\n\n## Required Skills\n\n* PHP\n* Nodejs\n* Typescript\n* MySQL\n* HTML/CSS/jQuery\n* Linux\n\n## Nice to Have Skills\n\n* TypeORM\n* Express\n* React/React Native\n* Serverless\n\n## Required Experience\n\n* API integrations\n* Using existing SDK as well as from the ground up\n* Decent UI/UX skillsโby no means Rembrandt but able to make things logical to use and good to look at\n* Standard Git use\n* Experience deploying and maintaining production applications on AWS\n* EC2\n* RDS\n* ELB\n* S3\n* Lambda\n* API Gateway\n\nBackground in eCommerce or understanding of retail is a big plus. We are always needing to put ourselves in the shoes of our clients to figure out the best way to solve the next problem and if you donโt know what an SKU or a PO is itโll be hard to do that.\n\nLocation: At least a partial day overlap with a standard EST workday.\n\nIf you think youโd be a good fit, weโd love to hear from you!\n\n*Inverge asks respectfully to only apply through the application form and do not email/apply directly to Inverge. Any applications sent directly to Inverge will not be considered. Recruiters and Agencies please do not contact Inverge directly.* \n\nPlease mention the word **PERFECTION** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMzc=). # Senior Node.js + React Developer\nHigherEducation partners with many of the most recognizable names in the online education industry to help them build their programs and expand student bases. We have 75M annual site visitors and are very good at what we do. We also love to use cutting edge technologies to make developer life enjoyable and more productive.\n\n**What kind of stuff do we do?**\nThis past year, we drastically improved the performance and architecture of our React + Node + Docker apps as our application traffic tripled. Some highlights were features like: \n- Breaking some larger services into smaller, lightning-fast apps that are fun to work on\n- Implementing a newer, shinier, A/B testing platform that allows us to run experiments both server and client side\n- Cutting 50-80% off of our response times\n- Next year, who knows just how high we can fly!\n\nWe're looking for more on-site (Houston) or remote (anywhere in the US) engineers to join the team to help us hit these goals and keep making use of the great new tech that is emerging every year.\n\nPay is competitive, benefits are great (e.g. 6% 401k matching), the team is tons of fun, and a great work/life balance truly makes you enjoy the time spent on the job.\n\nIf you're awesome at building client and server applications with JavaScript and want to enjoy your engineering-life because you get to use the right tool for the job with no red tape, apply today.\n\n**The ideal candidate will have:**\n- A full stack mentality - you're equally happy in React apps as you are working on the API and cache layer. Some projects you'll be doing both, sometimes just one, sometimes just the other.\n- Meaningful experience with React apps - you're a senior - you've done it, you have opinions, lessons learned and perhaps some horror stories\n - Meaningful experience with building Node.js API's - you can spin up an API complete with DB and auth with no hand-holding. You also know how to improve performance when requests get slow.\n - Essentially, you love to be involved with the whole stack minus Ops and aren't afraid to take on new and challenging areas, whether it's performance and scaling, DevOps, or in-depth CSS optimization.\n\n**Bonus points go to the contestants displaying:**\n- Experience working with new CSS features like Custom properties and CSS Grid\n- Production experience with building and consuming GraphQL API's\n- Strong knowledge of Docker (we deploy everything via Docker)\n- AWS โ specifically EC2, RDS, Elasticache, Lambda, VPC\n- Experience with Docker CI workflows using hosted or on-prem CI platforms such as CircleCI, Codeship, DroneCI, Jenkins, etc\n- DNS, load balancing, failover & scaling strategies\n- Having the right emoji and gif for every situation\n\n**Benefits & Perks:**\n- The short of it: we want you to be really glad that you work here and laugh when recruiters email you opportunities elsewhere\n- 6% 401k matching\n- 100% health / vision / dental for you & partial subsidies for the rest of your family\n- 15 vacation & sick days / yr. + many U.S. & company holidays\n- Flexible hours - getting the work done and communicating well is what matters most\n- Gym membership reimbursement up to $100/mo - because those biceps aren't going to grow themselves\n- You get to work with Evan. Believe me, we all appreciate this. \n\nPlease mention the words **TRIAL VACANT FINAL** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xMzc=). \nChristian Care Ministry’s mission is to connect and equip Christians to share their lives, faith, talents, and resources with others. We primarily do so through Medi-Share, but as an association of churches, we’re rapidly expanding our “ministry portfolio” and we think technology will be at the center of accomplishing that goal. That’s where you come in. We need help creating and supporting applications (mobile + browser) for the future products and projects we’ve got in the proverbial “hopper.”\n\nBut before we go any further, you need to know if you’ll like working with us. We think you will.\n\nA bit about us: You already know the mission of Christian Care Ministry (CCM). We have about 580 employees in various states, but most of them are either at our headquarters in Melbourne, FL, or our Colorado Springs, CO branch. Medi-Share has been growing in every way imaginable since about 2010. It has become commonplace for our CFO to say things like “We’ve grown 30% year over year …again” at seemingly every quarterly employee town hall meeting. We’re extremely humbled and grateful to the Lord for the growth.\n\nChristian Care Ministry is a community of Christians that requires its employees to share its Christian religious beliefs and practices. CCM complies with all anti-discrimination laws applicable to religious employers. \n\nAbout the role: This position serves on the New Product Engineering Team in a Product Team setting. This small, sub-department of our IT team (which is currently under 10 people) is mostly remote. Their main focus has been making some dreams of the leadership team come true (well, at least the dreams that involve amazing code :). \n\nLife as an Employee with CCM’s New Product Engineering Team: We work really hard to make working here an amazing experience. It’s hard to find great talent like you, but if you pick us, we want to keep you for a long time. We have a team full of truly exceptional people—the kind you’ll be excited to work with. Here’s how we operate:\n\nDo you prefer mountains or oceans?\n\nWhile the majority of the NPE Team is distributed, it is our overwhelming preference that you live near our Colorado Springs, CO office or our headquarters in Melbourne, FL. However, with modern tools, proximity doesn’t influence productivity and if absolutely necessary, we can discuss an exception (as long as it’s a state listed below that we already are a registered employer within). For this job in particular, we do need some collaboration though, so just make sure you have a reliable internet connection, of course.\n\nNo Crazy Hours\n\nThe New Product Engineering Team is operating in “start up” mode. This means that we work hard and smart to get projects completed in a reasonable timeline. On occasion, there may be instances when extra time is needed (usually around a product launch or a really big release), but those are pretty infrequent. Basically, we commit you to at least 6 hours of coding per day in our Sprints and as long as you get the work done, we’re okay with when you get it done. Just be available when the team may need your help, or when you may need their help. Sometimes life happens in the middle of the day, and we understand that. We also think “more meetings” means less time for coding so we protect your time. We have one morning stand-up at 10am EST where we find out when there could be overlap that day. Oh, one more cool thing about the only meeting you attend – we “eat our own dog food” and close each stand-up praying for Medi-Share members’ needs listed in our mobile app.\n\nUp Your Game\n\nWe’re serious about helping you improve your craft. We budget for it by giving you those extra 2 hours per workday to collaborate or learn. The stack we generally work on is relatively new so taking time to hone in your skills is pretty imperative. We send members to conferences or webinars as we need to. We love seeing our people growing.\n\nNow, back to you, our new Full Stack Developer…\n\nThis is the part where we describe the experience necessary to be considered for the position.\n\nYou’re a skilled developer, but maybe you haven’t gotten a chance to prove it yet professionally. We can give you that chance. \n\nBut before you get _too_ excited, let me explain. We only hire great developers, and this position is no exception. When we ask you to write or debug code during our interviews, you’ll do so confidently. You might not be able to show us 5 applications you’ve shipped, but you can point to something recent you’ve spent significant time coding that you’re really proud of, like your university project, your open source contributions, or your project at your last job. If we ask your professors, classmates, or coworkers about you, they’ll have great things to say.\n\nIn short, we won’t teach you how to be a good programmer, since you already are, but we can certainly help you be a better, professionally-experienced programmer.\n\nOur ideal candidate either has a college degree in computer science, or if not, 2+ years of recent, solid professional programming experience. Our especially ideal candidate has experience with either Node.js or React.js. Having only done that in your free time is fine. That tells us you are curious enough to learn on your own.\n\nOur stack contains a very healthy JavaScript client utilizing Heroku, Node.js, React.js, and a few others. CCM is in the process of migrating to Salesforce so we often interact with their APIs. For our mobile apps we’re using React Native, because, well, basically, it’s awesome (and we really think our philosophies of “API First” and “Learn Once, Code Everywhere” are going to be the norm in the near future). Our backend API servers use either Ruby on Rails or Node.js/Express, with PostgreSQL and Redis as our data layer. Despite those being our “sweet spots” before we take on a new product, we pick the stack that works best for that solution.\n\nYou’re the one we’re looking for if you:\n\n\n* Live in (or, if you want to live in) one of these states: AL, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, OH, TN, TX, VA, WA, or WV.\n\n* Are curious how things work, you are self-motivated and self-driven.\n\n* Are an excellent developer and can adapt to new languages quickly.\n\n* Write code that is easy for other programmers to understand and use.\n\n* Thrive with directions like:\n\n\n* “Here is the mock up for feature X. How do you think we should approach this?”\n\n* "Check out the Jira story and play a bit with library X on GitHub. This might solve our problem Y. Let's discuss the pros and cons tomorrow." \n\n* "This component needs to be re-architected to allow for X. How do you think we should do it and why do you think that's a good idea?"\n\n\n\n\n\n* Are excited to work across multiple platforms with different technologies.\n\n* You got a smirk on your face when you saw you could work on the stack listed above, AT A MINISTRY!\n\n* As you’ve read this job description, you realize this team obviously is comprised of people who you’d enjoy spending a work week with. (ended that sentence with a preposition, we're not paid for our grammatical skills)\n\n\n\n\nBonus Points\n\n\n* You already are a Medi-Share member or would want to join membership even if you didn’t work here.\n\n* You’ve built stuff using React Native (even if it was for your mom’s bingo club or something crazier).\n\n\n\n\nNext Steps\n\nSuper important stuff that sounds like it was written by lawyers:\n\nThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position. Employee(s) will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by any person authorized to give instructions or assignments. This document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an "at will" relationship.\n\nChristian Care Ministry is committed to serving the Lord and our membership with excellence. As employees we are committed to adhering to the same standard of Biblical principles of lifestyle and health as required for membership in our Medi-Share program which include:\n\n\n* Have a verifiable Christian testimony indicating a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and profess the Statement of Faith\n\n* Attend a fellowship of believers, regularly and actively support that ministry, and live under the discipline of that body\n\n* Share the conviction that believers are to bear one another’s burdens according to Galatians 6:2\n\n* Believe the Biblical doctrine that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and therefore are to be kept pure\n\n* Must not engage in sex outside of traditional Christian marriage\n\n* Cannot use tobacco or illegal drugs in any form, or abuse legal drugs or alcohol\n\n\n\n\n How To Apply\n\n\n* Apply here. In your cover letter, introduce yourself and explain why this position is of interest to you, and why you would be a great fit.\n\n* Please include links to apps you’ve built or anything else that makes you look good, and describe your role in building those apps. (If they’re internal, you can skip the link part.)\n\n* If you have a prepared resume, attach it in PDF form. If you don’t have a resume because you aren’t even sure you’re looking to change jobs, that’s fine! An informal list of your work and education history are all we’re looking for. Plus, you’ll see at our site we ask for a lot of the same info anyway.\n\n* Please complete the following questions, and include them with your cover letter. This shouldn’t take you very long.\n\n\n* What are your two strongest programming languages? Is there another language that you’re curious to learn next?\n\n* If you were interviewing a prospective candidate for this position, what would be a good interview question to ask to find out if a candidate really knew their stuff?\n\n* In a 2-3 sentences, what has your life with Jesus looked like over the last 3 weeks? There’s no wrong answer.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere will be a few other things if we get past the first interview, but we’ll cover that later. We even like doing our hiring on an iterative basis. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
