\nQuickly maturing startup seeking like minded Full Stack Engineer! PacketFabric redefines how companies procure, consume, and manage their network connectivity. The technical team is a small, talented, and close knit group and we need a team member to help us accomplish our goal of making the best darn carrier network on the planet.\n\nDescription\n\nAs a well rounded software engineer, you should definitely be the type that appreciates diversity in your day, and challenges outside of your comfort level! A typical day in the life of a PacketFabric senior software engineer might include these types of activities:\n\n\n* Designing a deterministic lifecycle workflow for our next product offering.\n\n* Writing core platform code for a new feature, and unit tests for functionality.\n\n* Refactoring and improving existing code for performance and simplicity. For example, breaking a large method into smaller, more maintainable and easily tested methods.\n\n* Building command line tools to help network engineers better manage network state.\n\n* Researching additional ideas, you may have to improve the product/platform overall and sharing with the team.\n\n* Interacting with customers and/or sales on a bug in the software, quickly resolving it, and coordinating across the team to push a fix.\n\n* Working with other engineers and discussing quirks in network protocols and network interconnection which translate rapid API and UI changes.\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\nThe right candidate will have an abundance of hard core programming skills, have solid instincts for API usability and design patterns. You are probably a full stack developer who naturally gravitates towards work on a product core. You know how to sacrifice algorithmic elegance for getting it done on deadline. More specifics include:\n\n\n* Extensive experience with Python in large applications developed in a team environment. \n\n* Expert unit tester.\n\n* Experience in large scale distributed systems.\n\n* Extensive experience with the HTTP protocol and developing and using RESTful APIs.\n\n* Experience doing any router/switch configuration or infrastructure automation.\n\n* A solid understanding of OO programming paradigms.\n\n* Experience with a message queue system like RabbitMQ or Kafka.\n\n* Experience using NoSQL data stores like Redis.\n\n* Be completely at home on any *nix command line and building your own tools.\n\n* Very comfortable using Git in a team environment (i.e. pull-requests, branch management, rebasing).\n\n* Experience working in an environment leveraging remote communication collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom etc.\n\n* Never being afraid to venture boldly where none have gone before and develop code where there are no previous libraries to draw from.\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Experience\n\n\n* Previous exposure to layer 2/3 networking protocols and concepts such as IPv4/6, VLANs, VPNs, BGP, etc.\n\n* Experience with Python-based web application frameworks like Flask, Django, or Sanic\n\n* Any experience interacting with physical world equipment - industrial, medical, etc\n\n* SQL experience.\n\n* Experience with Vue.js or AngularJS. While this role will focus more on the "back end", experience doing any customer facing work is a bonus.\n\n* Experience creating highly maintainable Javascript.\n\n* GraphQL\n\n* Experience creating large scale data visualizations of any type.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\nEngineering for you is more about a clean codebase, paradigms and algorithms than languages, frameworks or platforms. You have chosen your favorite stack in which you have lots of experience, but you’re able to get stuff done in any environment you need to and with every change you leave the codebase better off than before.\n\nYou will be one of the first members of our engineering team and will work on many different projects and touch many different systems: from our app backends (REST webservices) to our demand forecasting service and our cash register. Because our team is new, you will get to influence which technologies we will use.\n\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will become a go to person to answer technical questions for the rest of the team.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\n* Create new and work on existing systems across a wide range of projects (e.g. a clean and elegant API layer spanning across all of our legacy systems, backend APIs consumed by our web and mobile apps, production tooling for our machine learning models etc.)\n\n* Improve and maintain our production environment, for example by adding monitoring and alerting (DevOps)\n\n* Set up a modern development workflow for our team, including a continuous integration pipeline and automated deployments\n\n* Work closely together with our frontend engineering and data science teams\n\n* Support other developers in your team with technical guidance\n\n\n\n\nRequirements:\n\n\n* Minimum of 3 years of software development experience in a general purpose programming language\n\n* BSc degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience\n\n* Ability to quickly get up to speed in any programming language or system if needed\n\n* Ability to tackle problems outside your comfort zone and get things done without supervision\n\n* Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English\n\n\n\n\nDesirable:\n\n\n* Experience in any of the following programming languages: Java, C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, Rust or Go\n\n* Experience working with one or more from the following: web application development, Unix/Linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, service oriented architectures, REST APIs, developing large software systems\n\n* Experience working in teams following an agile software development methodology\n\n* Basic knowledge of German\n\n\n\n\nWe also have a role for Junior / Mid-Level developers available here. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
