[Remote OK](https://remoteok.io) is looking to hire a Full Stack Engineer. With that we mean a generalist software engineer focused on product outcomes rather than any specific part of the stack or language. You need to be more frontend focused than a typical programmer, and re-use any API or backend that exists to get the job done.\n\nThis is a full-time position.\n\n# Responsibilities\n- keep existing features working (we monitor most pages and API endpoints every minute)\n- fix bugs that might come up (we have live PHP/JS bug tracking)\n- build new features, that means coding the client side part of it (usually plain JS or w/ jQuery, but without fancy frameworks), and the back end side of it (usually plain PHP with SQLite)\n- ship fast and iterate based on customer feedback (right now we deploy CI/CD-style about 50 times per day)\n\n# Impact\n- you work on sites that get over 1.4 billion requests per year used by over 1 million people per month\n- you learn how to ship fast with a laser focus on building what customers want while learning how to market those new features directly to an audience\n\n# You should be\n- autonomous and be able to figure things out for yourself, but I might go AWOL for awhile, so you need to make the best choices yourself how to fix something, or how to build a new feature\n- not wanting to do things the proper overengineering way with Kubernetes clusters and Docker and multi layered sharded databases to scale like in BigCo tech enterprise; doing things proper is good but making customer's happy is the #1 priority, quickly made scrappy code can always be refactored later if a feature starts making money, instead of proper code that took a long time to write for a feature that nobody ends up using\n\n# You'll work in a team with\n- a Site Reliability Engineer, who keeps the sites up\n- a Community Manager, who keeps the Remote OK community safe\n- a Customer Service Specialist, who keeps our customers happy\n\n \n\nPlease mention the words **PITCH CAPITAL OBLIGE** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xNDM=). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide

\nCompany Introduction \n\nHello! We are Opinew, a Scottish company with a small team and grand mission. We are helping online stores to become independent of large platforms like Amazon and eBay by providing a powerful review import and management system. Opinew helps shop owners to collect reviews from their customers while also allowing them to import existing reviews accumulated over years on Amazon, eBay or AliExpress. Reviews enable social proof, which increases sales conversation to make Opinew’s clients more successful. Depending on their area of expertise, some engineers have a strong focus on backend, frontend or testing. However, generally each engineer works across the full stack and contributes to any part of the codebase. Engineers own their code, ensure maintainability and are responsible for writing unit tests and completing new features without breaking backwards compatibility. \n\nWhat we offer \n\n\n* Opportunity to help decentralise online shopping away from the ecommerce giants\n\n* Exciting opportunity to grow the start-up with us into a global software company\n\n* Competitive salary\n\n* Laptop and any other essential technical equipment\n\n* Education and relaxation: language classes / steam store games\n\n* Reading/Courses - books and online courses to help with your professional development are on us to help with your personal development.\n\n* Home cleaning - we will find somebody to take over house chores to help you focus on what matters most to you\n\n\n\n\nWhat you can expect \n\n\n* An agile, diverse and multidisciplinary fully remote team \n\n* A supportive, inclusive and transparent working environment where team mates learn from and help each other all the time. \n\n* A place to look at things differently, challenge and offer solutions. \n\n* You will be working in a (still) small start-up where the whole company consists of ~10 people. You will have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact and actively drive change in the technology, direction and culture of the start up. \n\n\n\n\nWhat we are looking for \n\nWe are looking for an experienced, talented software engineer to join the engineering team and help us scale Opinew to the next level.\n\nThis position is for full time, 100% remote work.\n\nWe would expect you to: \n\n\n* Always put the user first. \n\n* Be an active participant during technical decisions and discussions. \n\n* Be comfortable to work in a rapidly changing environment. \n\n* Be passionate and empathetic - you fall in love with problems, not solutions. You’re a doer, and a helper. \n\n* Take pride in your work. \n\n* Think like an owner. \n\n* Experiment, test, try, fail and learn continuously. \n\n\n\n\nQualifications \n\nFor this role, you must have: \n\n\n* Experience in working as part of a team to ship high-quality software using agile development processes. \n\n* Experience in developing UI with Vue.js /React/Angular\n\n* Experience in python backend frameworks like Flask/Django\n\n* Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Python.\n\n* Experience in e-commerce and Shopify beneficial.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

# About the role\nDraftable API is our cloud API service for comparing documents, powered by our world-class Draftable technology. It is one of our two main products. Over the last year, weโve been experiencing strong growth and we are now looking for an excellent generalist to join our team.\nYou will be the technical lead for Draftable API and oversee much of web infrastructure. You will be working with our Product Lead and other team members to prioritize and build features. \nYou will also be involved with developing our document comparison viewer, which is written in Javascript and used in all our products.\nYou will spend at least 80% of your time thinking about how to implement things and writing code.\n\n# About you\n* You have 5+ years of experience with Python (Django, Django REST Framework).\n* You have 3+ years of experience with front-end development (Javascript, CSS, HTML).\n* You have at least a year of experience with React.\n* You are independent and self-reliant. You are happy working on a task by yourself but you will take initiative to involve other team members when necessary.\n* You have a strong awareness of efficiency and computer science fundamentals (but you donโt need to know this stuff cold like a grad).\n* You appreciate the importance of clear communication, especially in a remote role.\n\n# Work/life balance\nWe understand you have a life outside work and we will respect your non-working and family time. We expect engineers to work a full-time load of 40 hours per week (and no more) and to be very productive during that time.\nOur team is mostly remote (5 in Melbourne, 2 in Poland, and a few travelling the world). And we prefer working with remote engineers, but weโre also open to welcoming you into our Melbourne office. \nYou will have flexibility to schedule your work around your other obligations but you will usually work at a fixed time. If your work hours donโt have much overlap with Australian business hours, you will need to be flexible with scheduling meetings late at night or early in the morning.\nOur service is very stable and we havenโt had any critical incidents that required urgent attention over the last year.\n\n# About our culture\nWeโre easy-going and easy to work with. Weโre developer-led and have a flat structure. We are collaborative, and we expect you to take an active role in evolving our engineering culture. We like writing things down. We love Slack.\nWe launch things as soon as theyโre ready. We do things right the first time, even if it takes a little longer. We donโt have much technical debt. From time to time we promise a feature to customer, but we otherwise donโt have many external deadlines.\n\n# Some things you might be doing in your first few months\n* Adding a new end-point to Draftable API\n* Build an admin interface for internal staff\n* Get our integration tests running inside docker\n* Build a marketing sign-up page for our website that pipes form data through to Salesforce\n* Work with our product lead to add a feature to our comparison viewer\n\n\n# About our technical stack\nWe have a fairly standard tech stack: Python (Django, Celery, SaltStack), React, PostgreSQL, Redis and RabbitMQ. Our frontend is JS, react, CSS, HTML.\nOur core algorithms and products are written in .NET (mostly C# with some F# and some C++). In this role, itโs not intended that you will contribute to the core technology. \n\nRead more about our hiring process here: https://draftable.com/careers/hiring-process \n\nPlease mention the words **ECHO CODE CAT** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4xNDM=).
