You have direct impact on roadmap and project planning efforts!\n\nSome of the things you'll work on:\n\n\n* Work with a distributed team of engineers from all across the globe.\n\n* You will innovate, lead and contribute to the development and user experience of both our hosted and on-premise offerings.\n\n* Assist in designing a scalable cloud offering working across everything from a few Elasticsearch clusters and Kibana instances to many thousands\n\n* Own, curate, and execute the Cloud User Journey area product roadmap, collaborating with product managers, engineering managers, and other stakeholders across Cloud and Elastic teams.\n\n* Create technical designs and build POCs for new efforts.\n\n* Be hands-on with the codebase. Review work done by the team, and provide constructive feedback.\n\n\n\n\nWhat you will bring along:\n\n\n* A track record of successfully leading multi-functional teams to deliver quality content.\n\n* You have 5-7 years experience in a hands-on Javascript programming role.\n\n* Comfortable working and communicating with teams from several functions – design, data analytics, and distributed engineering.\n\n* You have worked on a SAAS platform or product.\n\n* Experience integrating with marketplace and/or console offers from hosting providers (Azure, GCP, etc.) is a huge plus.\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Information:\n\n\n* Deeply competitive pay and benefits\n\n* Equity compensation\n\n* Catered lunches, snacks, and beverages in most offices\n\n* An environment in which you can balance great work with a great life\n\n* Passionate people building phenomenal products\n\n\n\n\nElastic is an Equal Employment employer committed to the principles of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action for all applicants and employees. \nAt Elastic, we have a simple goal: to pursue the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. We help people around the world do exceptional things with their data. From stock quotes to Twitter streams, Apache logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. Often, what you can do with our products is only limited by what you can dream up. We believe that diversity drives our vibe. We unite Elasticians across 30+ countries into one unified team, while the broader community spans across over 100 countries\n\nMachine Learning at Elastic\n\nMachine Learning (ML) for the Elastic Stack allows users to better understand the behavior of their data. We have developed an unsupervised machine learning engine that can plow through large amounts of data and automatically find those insights our users today have been proactively finding using search. Current use cases include finding anomalies within transactions / operational metrics, detecting uncharacteristic user behavior or finding malicious devices.\n\nWe have an exciting roadmap and are looking to hire an extraordinary Software Engineer to join us. You will have an amazing opportunity to join a small, highly experienced team where you can make an immediate impact and contribution to the development of our new machine learning offerings.\n\nWhat you will be doing\n\nAs a member of the team, you will contribute to the further development and ongoing maintenance of our ML focussed projects and the integration of our core ML algorithms and code into the Elastic Stack. You do not need to be a machine learning expert, however you do need to be comfortable working in a data driven development environment using large complex datasets to ensure analytical and operational performance. Day to day, the majority of your development tasks will be in Java, but familiarity and experience with C++ and JavaScript is useful. In addition, you will be working closely with data, UI and QA engineers, as well as collaborating with the core Elasticsearch team and the Elastic Stack community.\n\nWhat you will bring\n\n\n* Educational background in a mathematical discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science\n\n* Strong Java Experience (+2yrs industry experience)\n\n* Deep understanding of JVM internals including garbage collection, the memory model, etc.\n\n* C++ experience (although this may not have been in your most recent role)\n\n* Ready to be part of a dedicated distributed team, having strong collaboration and communication skills\n\n* Experience in developing complex (secure, high speed, low latency, high-throughput, multi-threaded) systems\n\n\n\n\nExperience in these areas is a plus\n\n\n* Knowledge of IT Operations, IT Infrastructure, Application Performance Monitoring and/or IT Security domains\n\n* Knowledge, interest and a real passion for topics in statistics, machine learning, data analytics and/or data visualization\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Information\n\nWe're looking to hire team members invested in realizing the goal of making real-time data exploration easy and available to anyone. As a distributed company, we believe that diversity drives our vibe! Whether you're looking to launch a new career or grow an existing one, Elastic is the type of company where you can balance great work with great life.\n\n\n* Competitive pay based on the work you do here and not your previous salary\n\n* Equity\n\n* Global minimum of 16 weeks of paid in full parental leave (moms & dads)\n\n* Generous vacation time and one week of volunteer time off\n\n* Your age is only a number. It doesn't matter if you're just out of college or your children are; we need you for what you can do.\n\n\n\n\n#LI-MD1\n\nElastic is an Equal Employment employer committed to the principles of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action for all applicants and employees. \nAt Elastic, we have a simple goal: to solve the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the company behind the popular open source projects — Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats — we help people around the world do great things with their data. At Elastic, we have a simple goal: to solve the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the company behind the popular open source projects — Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats — we help people around the world do great things with their data. From stock quotes to Twitter streams, Apache logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. Diversity drives our vibe. We unite employees across 30+ countries into one coherent team, while the broader community spans across over 100 countries.\n\n\nKibana is the Window into the Elastic Stack\n\nKibana lets users visualize their Elasticsearch data and navigate the Elastic Stack, so they can do anything from learning why they’re getting paged at 2:00 a.m. to understanding the impact rain might have on their quarterly numbers. Kibana gives users the freedom to select the way they give shape to their data. And they don’t always have to know what they’re looking for. With its interactive visualizations, users start with one question and see where it leads them. Kibana core ships with the classics: histograms, line graphs, pie charts, sunbursts, and more. They demonstrate the full aggregation capabilities of Elasticsearch.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nThis is a hands-on role. You will work closely with other Operation team members on many key projects and initiatives partnering closely across all Elastic teams. You will be participated in defining the roadmap of Operation team, delivering high quality of work, managing the technical debt, and providing support for the community\n\nWhat you’ll work on\n\n\n* Develop and maintain runtime configuration support\n\n* Provide enhancements to our Continuous Integration pipeline\n\n* Improve our builds running on supported operating systems\n\n* Advocate for the overall developer experience\n\n* Work collaboratively with other development teams including platform, security, quality engineering, infrastructure, and documentation team\n\n* Provide technical feedback to engineers through code reviews and design reviews\n\n\n\n\nSkills & Requirements\n\n\n* Deep knowledge of Node.js\n\n* Strong JavaScript programming skills\n\n* 7+ years of experience developing scalable, high performing services and applications\n\n* Understanding of at least one modern JS Framework such as Angular.js and React.js\n\n* Experience with the release process: Source code control, package installers, build scripts, Jenkins, etc.\n\n* Experience with Docker or similar virtualization environments using libvert, LXC, or NSPAWN.\n\n* Familiar with various build tools such as webpack and Grunt\n\n* Experience managing Continuous Integration platforms. Jenkins experience is a plus.\n\n* Deep understanding of design, implement, and consume REST APIs\n\n* Able to work independently and deliver projects involving a wide variety of technologies and systems\n\n* Ability to work in a fast paced start-up environment\n\n* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a great teammate with strong analytical, problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Information\n\n\n* Competitive pay, medical, dental, vision, disability, benefits\n\n* Stock options\n\n* Catered lunches, snacks, and beverages in most offices\n\n* An environment in which you can balance great work with a great life\n\n* Passionate people building great products\n\n* Your age is only a number. It doesn't matter if you're just out of college or your children are; we need you for what you can do.\n\n\n\n\nEngineering Philosophy\n\nEngineering a highly complex distributed system that is easy to operate via elegantly designed APIs is a non-trivial effort. It requires solid software development skills, and more importantly, a sharp mind and the ability to think like a user. We also care deeply about giving you full ownership of what you’re working on. Our company fundamentally believes great minds achieve greatness when they are set free and are surrounded and challenged by their peers, which is clearly visible in our organization. At Elastic, we effectively don’t have a hierarchy to speak of. We feel that anyone needs to be in the position to comment on truly anything, regardless of his or her role within the company.\n\n#LI-MC1\n\nTargeted Locations: Boston, New York, Atlanta \n\nElastic is an Equal Employment employer committed to the principles of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action for all applicants and employees.
