\nPurpose\n\nAn experienced full-stack engineer to join the Placeit team\n\nWhat would I work on specifically?\n\n\n* Build prototypes.\n\n* Write technical specs.\n\n* Journal your process.\n\n* QA your work.\n\n* Update tickets and keep work organized.\n\n* Follow the methodologies that the company provides.\n\n* Write efficient software.\n\n* Work with stakeholders to understand tradeoffs.\n\n* Follow up on issues/errors on a regular basis.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Skills/Experience\n\n\n* HTML (different version) and their compatibilities.\n\n* Component frameworks such as Bootstrap or Foundation.\n\n* JS: programming model in JavaScript/inheritance model, scoping, differences between the three major versions of JS.\n\n* HTTP: how the protocol generally works and how browsers generally deal with it.\n\n* Web sockets and web workers.\n\n* Experience with AJAX libraries (jQuery is required and one of these three: Backbone, Angular or React).\n\n* Node.js\n\n* Possess a good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances\n\n* Solid understanding of object-oriented programming\n\n* Experience designing, building large-scale Ruby on Rails applications\n\n* Experience with common libraries such as RSpec and Rescue\n\n* Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (e.g. Git, or SVN)\n\n* Proficient in bash shell\n\n* Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery\n\n* Basic familiarity with networking systems, load balancers, and TCP/IP network constructs.\n\n* Knowledge of performance and reliability monitoring strategies\n\n* A knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code\n\n* Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes\n\n\n\n\nBonus Skills\n\n\n* Server administration/automation experience \n\n* Worked with Aurora, Kinesis and other AWS services\n\n* Have worked in large scale applications with at least 100k users\n\n* Any background in video, audio or image processing on the server-side\n\n* Clever problem solver.\n\n\n\n\nPersonal Competencies Required\n\nYou need to know how to:\n\n\n* Be clever about how to approach problems\n\n* Be technically curious (learning on your own)\n\n* Have a serious interest in understanding the goal behind your work\n\n* Push for doing things the right way the first time around\n\n* Have empathy for our users\n\n* Follow a formal process approach to engineering.\n\n\n\n\nWhat does your engineering process look like?\n\nWe do believe that most people have a planning bias so most would think that we spend quite a bit of time in trying to clear and organize our minds before starting any task.
