You will have an appreciation of the key aspects of UX and information design alongside the ability to implement great experiences using HTML, CSS and SCSS. Likewise, you will be inspired by the serverless model and will take an active part in developing on the platform-as-a-service paradigm.\n\nWhat you will do:\n\n\n* Develop solutions based on user requirements, taking responsibility for the full development cycle.\n\n* Implement highly scalable solutions using AWS Lambda, and user experiences using Angular, using Typescript on both the front and back end.\n\n* Constantly challenge and expand your knowledge of reliable software architecture, programming and new technologies.\n\n* Work with agile processes that are adapted to the team’s and project’s needs.\n\n\n\n\nWhat technologies you'll be using:\n\n\n* Angular and RxJS.\n\n* AWS Lambda, using node.js and Typescript.\n\n* Other AWS services (RDS, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch, S3, ElastiCache etc).\n\n* Microservices with synchronous and asynchronous communication.\n\n\n\n\nMinimum qualifications:\n\n\n* 5+ years of professional software development experience.\n\n* A good degree education, preferably in computer science.\n\n* A strong portfolio of projects in which you have taken part.\n\n* OOP skills and knowledge of design patterns.\n\n\n\n\nPersonal attributes:\n\n\n* Strong work ethic.\n\n* Team player.\n\n* Customer service oriented.\n\n* Excellence driven.\n\n\n\n\nHow to apply:\n\nSend us a cover letter explaining why you feel you are a great fit for the role, your salary expectation, and include an up-to-date resume as well.\n\nApplicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.\n\nNo agencies please.\n\nNext steps:\n\n* We will read your cover letter and resume. The more you can tell us about yourself and your previous roles the easier it is for us to make a thorough evaluation of your suitability for the role. Links to code are helpful but not an absolute requirement if this is difficult for you.\n\n* If you get through this first stage, we’ll arrange an interview (in person or by video) with at least two members of our team.\n\n* If we need more evidence of your expertise we may ask you to complete a short programming exercise. This will be something related to the role so you can see the type of work that you will be undertaking and we can see your technical ability. We’ll then follow up with an online meeting for you to walk us through the output of the exercise.\n\n* For successful candidates we will make an offer. \n\n\n\nBenefits:\n\n\n* Salary commensurate with experience.\n\n* 10% employer pension contribution.\n\n* 30 days annual leave.\n\n* Contribute to key technical decisions.\n\n* Work alongside and gain experience from experts in the field of digital education.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\nWe need a strong backend web applications developer, full time. LAMP stack; running proprietary Angular apps on CodeIngnitor, plus ExpressionEngine content management system with lots of customization, a few NodeJS apps for real-time data processing tasks, and a little bit of legacy PHP; running on a multi-tier farm in front of high avail MySQL., hosted in AWS.\n\nLooking for a developer with strong web app architecture experience on the backend to help modernize the legacy code (a little), build and deploy new features and apps (a lot), and in general keep our menagerie of ecommerce sites and internal support applications working like a charm.\n\nThe current development team works 100% internally focused, on dedicated systems for our ecommerce sites, marketing, operations, and investment/financial tools for our analysts. 4 full-time devs, two part time, plus 3 designers, all working in a DevOps style. Informal and flat organization, with lots of sharing and collaboration, but also complete ownership of your projects from concept to shipping. \n\nMust be a strong multi-tier web applications developer who can work on all aspects of the site from front-end (coding, not design) to application and data layers. Good working knowledge of security and scalability best practices. Experience in a fast release cycle environment – we put out new code multiple times per day. Self-driven, with a focus on putting out clean and well documented code. \n\nBonus points if you:\n\n\n* Know SQL like the back of your hand. Lots of focus on reporting and data visualization for the marketing and sales team.\n\n* Have testing and analytics experience. We make heavy use of Google Analytics, Optimizely, etc. to find out what works and doesn’t for our users. \n\n* Can pitch in on AWS systems management – anything from setting up an SSH relay box at the edge, to configuring opcode caching on PHP, to updating puppet to add additional dependencies.\n\n\n\n\nWork is 100% remote with no travel requirement (if you want to come visit our main office in the beautiful ski village of Stowe, VT, you’ll be welcome of course). All existing developers and designers are remote too – no odd man out here. \n\nCompany has been around 10+ years, profitable since inception, and is a leader in the investment publishing industry. Flexible schedule and shift timing. Paid time off. Etc. \n\nIndividuals and placement agents only, no vendors. Must have at least 5 years web app dev experience. Non-U.S. welcome to apply, but English skills must be 99th percentile, as this is a fast-moving U.S. based team. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
