Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. \nCompany Overview\n\nWe’re Encircle, nice to meet you! We’re leading the $2 trillion dollar property and casualty insurance industry out of the dark ages of pen-and-paper processes, into the digital age of transparency and empowerment. Our easy-to-use mobile and web software enables thousands of restoration contractors and insurance professionals to create efficiency, optimize resources, and maximize productivity. We’ve got some huge goals and are looking to add new members to our all-star team to help get us there!\n\nWe're big on training and helping members of our team broaden their skillset to meet new challenges.\n\nAs a member of the development organization, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure; working closely with our support team to manage customer escalations; and performing complex and challenging upgrade and migration operations. You will understand in detail the cloud services that we use and how they are managed; factors that influence the reliability of our infrastructure; and the configuration and layout of our services. You will help us anticipate load issues, improve our scalability, and innovate methods to improve the visibility of our business analytics and alerts. You will be entrusted with customer data and its integrity and privacy.\n\n\nRole Profile\n\nThis is primarily an internal-facing role at a leading software provider to the insurance restoration industry. You will be constantly drawing on both your technical and problem-solving skills. You will be responsible for working with many different employees, including developers, other members of the development operations team, the VP development and the CTO. \n\n\nResponsibilities\n\nThroughout the course of your job, you will be responsible for a diverse and mission-critical range of tasks, such as:\n\n\n* Perform deep-dive investigations into the root cause of complex issues potentially involving the interaction of low-level operating system components, cloud services, and networking\n\n* Develop end-to-end features and fixes that promote system stability\n\n* Stay in contact with the support team to be apprised of current issues\n\n* Advise development leadership to help triage and prioritize new issues\n\n* Help to document and build corporate working knowledge on our operating procedures\n\n* Stay in contact with the development team to maintain a mutual understanding of the impact of known and new performance issues, new changes, and how and where they will take effect\n\n* Research, plan and develop ways to make our analytics dashboards and error monitoring more meaningful and improve their signal-to-noise ratio\n\n* Research, plan and develop ways to ensure that our alerts are being sent on meaningful events\n\n* Develop ways to reduce manual work associated with internal administrative procedures\n\n* Perform both planned and unplanned deployments to our staging and production environments\n\n* Be a member of the on-call rotation to resolve critical multiple-customer-affecting issues\n\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n* Excellent organizational and communication skills.\n\n* A comfort level with working on multiple projects at once.\n\n* Knowledge of fundamental back-end technologies - Linux, SQL and Python - is needed\n\n* Familiarity with DevOps/SRE tools and concepts - Ansible, Azure and Docker/Kubernetes experience is beneficial.\n\n* Familiarity with parts of our application stack (Typescript, Swift, Kotlin) or similar technologies is beneficial.\n\n\n\n\n\nReporting\n\nThis role reports to our VP Development.\n\n\nInterview Process\n\nEncircle is proud of our bias-reducing interview process, which has three steps:\n\n\n* An introductory call with the hiring manager (VP Development)\n\n* A small take-home project to evaluate your programming\n\n* A videoconference interview with a mix of directed and open-ended technology questions\n\n\n\n\nMost of the emphasis is placed on your performance in the take-home and interviews rather than on past experience, curriculum vitae or academics.\n\n\nCompensation\n\nEncircle invests a lot of effort into designing salary ranges that are competitive for the industry, the Kitchener-Waterloo area and your role. This will be discussed in the introductory call with your hiring manager. Compensation also includes an Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP), a competitive health benefits package, and access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselling service.\n\n\nEligibility\n\nTo be eligible to work for Encircle, you must be able to legally work in Canada. We support working from home or from the Kitchener office\n\n\nEncircle is an equal opportunity employer. \nThe Wikimedia Foundation is hiring two Site Reliability Engineers to support and maintain (1) the data and statistics infrastructure that powers a big part of decision making in the Foundation and in the Wiki community, and (2) the search infrastructure that underpins all search on Wikipedia and its sister projects. This includes everything from eliminating boring things from your daily workflow by automating them, to upgrading a multi-petabyte Hadoop or multi-terabyte Search cluster to the next upstream version without impacting uptime and users.\n\nWe're looking for an experienced candidate who's excited about working with big data systems. Ideally you will already have some experience working with software like Hadoop, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Spark and other members of the distributed computing world. Since you'll be joining an existing team of SREs you'll have plenty of space and opportunities to get familiar with our tech (Analytics, Search, WDQS), so there's no need to immediately have the answer to every question.\n\nWe are a full-time distributed team with no one working out of the actual Wikimedia office, so we are all together in the same remote boat. Part of the team is in Europe and part in the United States. We see each other in person two or three times a year, either during one of our off-sites (most recently in Europe), the Wikimedia All Hands (once a year), or Wikimania, the annual international conference for the Wiki community.\n\nHere are some examples of projects we've been tackling lately that you might be involved with:\n\n\n*  Integrating an open-source GPU software platform like AMD ROCm in Hadoop and in the Tensorflow-related ecosystem\n\n*  Improving the security of our data by adding Kerberos authentication to the analytics Hadoop cluster and its satellite systems\n\n*  Scaling the Wikidata query service, a semantic query endpoint for graph databases\n\n*  Building the Foundation's new event data platform infrastructure\n\n*  Implementing alarms that alert the team of possible data loss or data corruption\n\n*  Building a new and improved Jupyter notebooks ecosystem for the Foundation and the community to use\n\n*  Building and deploying services in Kubernetes with Helm\n\n*  Upgrading the cluster to Hadoop 3\n\n*  Replacing Oozie by Airflow as a workflow scheduler\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd these are our more formal requirements:\n\n\n*    Couple years experience in an SRE/Operations/DevOps role as part of a team\n\n*    Experience in supporting complex web applications running highly available and high traffic infrastructure based on Linux\n\n*    Comfortable with configuration management and orchestration tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, SaltStack, etc.), and modern observability       infrastructure (monitoring, metrics and logging)\n\n*    An appetite for the automation and streamlining of tasks\n\n*    Willingness to work with JVM-based systems  \n\n*    Comfortable with shell and scripting languages used in an SRE/Operations engineering context (e.g. Python, Go, Bash, Ruby, etc.)\n\n*    Good understanding of Linux/Unix fundamentals and debugging skills\n\n*    Strong English language skills and ability to work independently, as an effective part of a globally distributed team\n\n*    B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, related field or equivalent in related work experience. Do not feel you need a degree to apply; we value hands-on experience most of all.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Wikimedia Foundation is... \n\n...the nonprofit organization that hosts and operates Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia free knowledge projects. Our vision is a world in which every single human can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. We believe that everyone has the potential to contribute something to our shared knowledge, and that everyone should be able to access that knowledge, free of interference. We host the Wikimedia projects, build software experiences for reading, contributing, and sharing Wikimedia content, support the volunteer communities and partners who make Wikimedia possible, and advocate for policies that enable Wikimedia and free knowledge to thrive. The Wikimedia Foundation is a charitable, not-for-profit organization that relies on donations. We receive financial support from millions of individuals around the world, with an average donation of about $15. We also receive donations through institutional grants and gifts. The Wikimedia Foundation is a United States 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization with offices in San Francisco, California, USA.\n\nThe Wikimedia Foundation is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage people with a diverse range of backgrounds to apply.\n\nU.S. Benefits & Perks*\n\n\n* Fully paid medical, dental and vision coverage for employees and their eligible families (yes, fully paid premiums!)\n\n* The Wellness Program provides reimbursement for mind, body and soul activities such as fitness memberships, baby sitting, continuing education and much more\n\n* The 401(k) retirement plan offers matched contributions at 4% of annual salary\n\n* Flexible and generous time off - vacation, sick and volunteer days, plus 19 paid holidays - including the last week of the year.\n\n* Family friendly! 100% paid new parent leave for seven weeks plus an additional five weeks for pregnancy, flexible options to phase back in after leave, fully equipped lactation room.\n\n* For those emergency moments - long and short term disability, life insurance (2x salary) and an employee assistance program\n\n* Pre-tax savings plans for health care, child care, elder care, public transportation and parking expenses\n\n* Telecommuting and flexible work schedules available\n\n* Appropriate fuel for thinking and coding (aka, a pantry full of treats) and monthly massages to help staff relax\n\n* Great colleagues - diverse staff and contractors speaking dozens of languages from around the world, fantastic intellectual discourse, mission-driven and intensely passionate people\n\n\n\n\n*Eligible international workers' benefits are specific to their location and dependent on their employer of record \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Admin, Engineer, Sys Admin, English and Education jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n

SOC 2, FEDRAMP, PCI, etc.).  This would be a major plus.  You must have previous proven experience working on a public cloud platform (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).  Key to this role is being self-motivated and a self-starter, as well as a strong passion for system improvement and optimization.  \n\nWe’re big fans of hiring people who are not just great at what they do but also how they do it. Critical to our culture is building and maintaining a team that works well together and knows how to communicate effectively - not just within their own team, but also across peripheral teams.  \n\nWe don’t believe in divas or rock stars. We are looking for someone who embodies the best parts of open-source culture: Humility, open-mindedness, positivity, and respect for others. A team member who doesn’t try to single-handedly save the day but embraces input and collaboration as a means to find the best solution.\n\nYour success in this role will be predicated on your ability to prioritize your work, be self-motivated and a self-starter, to speak up early and often, and to work well with others. You should be passionate about building highly available, scalable, and automated “hands-off” systems for customers, and being one of the “go-to” people that team members can trust to get things done and keep things running smoothly with a minimum of fuss. We’re great at encouraging our people to learn different technologies, continue their professional growth, and try out new ways of doing things. We’re in it for the long-haul, and you should be too. \n\nOur office is located in downtown San Francisco, and this position will initially report to the Director of Cloud Operations and Information Security. This is an individual contributor role and will not manage other people.  While our preference is to hire local employees, we will also consider exceptional candidates for remote work. \n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\n* Build highly available automated scalable microservices with a high quality of service for customers\n\n* Write and maintain customized toolsets for leading-edge GPU technologies\n\n* Implement and maintain service monitoring and reporting\n\n* Incident response and investigation, along with recommending and implementing changes to resolve problems permanently\n\n* Keeping all cloud services running reliably 24x7\n\n\n\n\nQualifications:\n\n\n* BS or higher degree in Computer Science, or equivalent industry or work experience.\n\n* 2+ years previous SRE/DevOps experience; previous experience in an enterprise SaaS software environment strongly preferred.\n\n* Strong desire to continue to learn and improve systems, yourself, and others.\n\n* Previous experience with a public cloud provider required (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)\n\n* Previous experience working on Linux OS (as well as Bash/Python programming skills) is required.\n\n* Previous experience with clustered Docker environments.\n\n* Previous experience with cloud secrets management, service discovery and scheduling.\n\n* Previous experience with CI ((eg. Jenkins) and CM (eg. Ansible, SaltStack, etc.) automation tools.\n\n* A passion for automation and security.\n\n* Strong desire to continue to learn and improve systems, yourself, and others.\n\n\n\n\nBonuses:\n\n\n* Design and implementation of security controls, and understanding good security practices\n\n* Experience in working in and designing systems for environments with compliance requirements (eg. SOC 2, FEDRAMP)\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Admin, Engineer, Sys Admin, DevOps, Cloud, SaaS and Linux jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n

\nAt Snowplow, we are on a mission to empower people to use data to differentiate. We are able to provide technology which enables customers to not only control their data, but allows them to do amazing things with that control.\n\nAs part of that effort, we're changing the way that people do digital analytics by moving companies away from one-size-fits-all vendors, such as Google Analytics and Adobe, to dictate what should be done with their data and enabling them to collect and own their data themselves.\n\nThe opportunity\n\nOur Managed Service offering has grown significantly over the last year, and we now orchestrate and monitor the Snowplow event pipeline across more than 100 customer-owned AWS accounts, with individual accounts processing many billions of events per month.\n\nWe are looking for our second Site Reliability Engineer to help us grow to managing 1,000 and then 10,000 AWS, GCP and Azure accounts. You’ll work closely with our Tech Ops Lead, on all aspects of our proprietary deployment, orchestration and monitoring stack.\n\nThe team and mission:\n\nTechnical Operations at Snowplow is responsible for two distinct domains:\n\n* Snowplow’s internal infrastructure, which powers Snowplow Insights, CI/CD, the Snowplow website, and our support tooling, all running on AWS\n\n* Our customers’ Snowplow-related infrastructure, running in their own AWS account\n\n\n\nWithin both domains, Tech Ops at Snowplow is striving to increase service reliability, fulfil customer requests in a timely fashion, and automate recurring tasks. Task automation is essential as our customer base grows, because our “infrastructure estate” scales linearly with our customer numbers, unlike most software businesses.\n\nOur roadmap includes:\n\n\n* Deploying, orchestrating and monitoring Snowplow on GCP, Azure and on-premise, not just AWS\n\n* “One click” infrastructure deployment and maintenance\n\n* Building self-healing and self-upgrading infrastructure, which learns how to optimize itself for cost, performance and reliability\n\n\n\n\nThis is an enormously ambitious undertaking but also, we hope, a hugely exciting infrastructure automation challenge!\n\nTechnologies:\n\nToday, our in-house stack uses pragmatic technologies including Docker, Ansible, Consul, CloudFormation, bash and Golang to manage our internal and customer infrastructure.\n\nFor our next level of automation, we are now exploring tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes and Vault.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n* The development of software for the purposes of automating, monitoring and maintaining client-deployed and Snowplow-internal infrastructure and services\n\n* Providing deep technical support to internal and client teams\n\n* Performing planned upgrades and modifications to customer infrastructure\n\n* Handling high-severity internal or customer incidents, ensuring we meet all SLAs\n\n\n\nWithin the software engineering side you will be responsible for the implementation, deployment and stability of your systems and services.  You will own software end to end with a high expectation of ownership over anything that is deployed.\n\nWithin the operational side you will join our on-call process for incident resolution, and be in the assignment for the regular client infrastructure work, with a strong mandate to continuing automation.\n\nWhat we are looking for:\n\nThis role will be a great fit for somebody who:\n\n\n* Has deep knowledge of Linux, networking, containers and similar, able to troubleshoot complex problems on individual servers and distributed systems\n\n* Has worked with at least one of: Amazon Web Services, GCP or Azure\n\n* Has been part of an on-call rotation\n\n* Has interacted directly with customers to solve their specific technical issues\n\n* Is comfortable scripting in one or more of: Bash, Python, Ruby or Perl\n\n* Is comfortable programming in one or more of: Java, Scala, Golang or Python\n\n\n\n\nThis role would be a great fit for a software engineer or systems administrator who wants to transition into a full SRE role.\n\nSecurity:\n\nThe integrity of our customers' systems and data underpin everything we do at Snowplow. As part of their probation, candidates will be put through a full background security check.\n\nOut-of-hours work:\n\nAn important part of this role relates to out-of-hours work, particularly around:\n\n* Performing planned upgrades and modifications to customer infrastructure outside of their working hours\n\n* Being on-call to handle high-severity internal or customer incidents, ensuring we meet all SLAs\n\n\n\nThe on-call process for the Tech Ops team is still evolving; we will discuss these requirements with short-listed candidates.\n\nWhat you’ll get in return:\n\n\n* Competitive package based on experience\n\n* 25 days holiday a year plus bank holidays\n\n* The freedom to work wherever suits you best\n\n* Two fantastic company away-weeks a year\n\n* Working alongside a strong and talented team\n\n\n\n\nOffice-specific:\n\n\n* Convenient central Shoreditch location\n\n* Continuous supply of Pact coffee\n\n* Regular mystery events\n\n* MacBook\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Admin, Engineer, Sys Admin, Amazon, Ruby, Stats and Golang jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $120,000/year\n

\nKeen IO is seeking engineers to join our Platform team. We build and nurture an Analytics API that processes user data and queries around the clock, across diverse industries. Whether it’s gaming, e-commerce, advertising, publishing, or IoT, our platform aims to make Analytics so easy for developers that they can focus entirely on their product. Every day, every week, every month our challenge is to scale with a constantly growing data deluge and evolve along with our user’s needs.\n\nAbout the Platform Team\n\nWe work together in a pretty novel fashion - servant leaders are elected from the team, by the team. Responsibilities normally held by a single manager are separated across multiple roles. We have very open discussions about our shared priorities.\n\nWe’re always iterating on how we work and what we build. We’re growing fast and we know that what worked a year ago won’t necessarily work a year from now. This applies both to the technology and the organizations of our teams. We want to provide the best analytics experience for developers and co-create the best work environment for each other - willingness to evolve is essential.\n\nAbout the Job\n\nBy centralizing a data pipeline for hundreds of companies, we operate at a scale that none of them have to worry about. Looking to the horizon, we need to look at every piece of our infrastructure with a critical eye. We need to stay ahead of the curve. You will help us be thoughtful and deliberate about tackling the right bottlenecks at the right time. You’ll help make working on the platform easier and easier. You’ll have the opportunity to gain deep understanding of distributed systems and teach others! Most importantly, you’ll collaborate with some pretty amazing humans. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Ads, API, Admin, Engineer, Sys Admin and Ecommerce jobs that are similar:\n\n $65,000 — $110,000/year\n
