\nWhen someone installs Density in a location, they get access to real time, accurate people count. The experience is magical to a customer, but the process involved in accomplishing it is complex. Density has counted 13 million humans, and that number is growing exponentially. We are seeking a talented backend engineer to help architect a suite of web-based products to transform that data into insight.\n\nThe software systems that support Density are foundational: our customer facing APIs and applications, our data ingestion pipeline, the systems that manage and orchestrate our fleet of devices, and the internal tools that keep our organization running smoothly. We put a high value on the infrastructure that supports our systems, and love approaching problems through research, prototyping, and experimentation. We are not afraid to embrace new technologies, but are mindful in what we choose. \n\nAs an organization, we understand the importance of design, focusing on fundamental problems, and decentralizing decision making. As an engineering team, we design, build, and test with simplicity and scalability in mind. As individuals, we take ownership in our work and decisions. We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of the web who shares these ideals.\n\nThe successful full-stack engineer will be applied to a wide variety of systems that constitute the Density platform. The Density platform is large, and your breadth of engineering knowledge will be put to the test.\n\nA few key pieces of our system include:\n\n\n* APIs and data-pipelines that process millions of events\n\n* Mobile applications that help customers get their sensors online\n\n* Engaging web applications that help visualize people-count analytics\n\n* Notification systems that act on a set of triggers\n\n* Internal tooling that we use for our deep-learning models\n\n\n\n\nThis position reports to Density's Director of Software Engineering.\n\nWhat you'll work on\n\n\n* Lead development on internal and customer facing projects utilizing Javascript, React, Python, Django, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, AWS and other technologies\n\n* Build APIs and data delivery mechanisms for applications such as web dashboards, alerting & health systems, mobile applications, and third party integrations\n\n* React to customer needs and feedback through tight-looped, iterative development\n\n* Contribute to open source initiatives\n\n* Document and teach best practices across our stack\n\n\n\n\nWhat we're looking for\n\n\n* 2+ years industry experience building backend and front-end applications\n\n* Experience with relational and non-relational datastores\n\n* Experience with building applications using ES6, React, and Redux\n\n* Strong background in HTML and CSS\n\n* Experience with data-centric applications, including analytics pipelines, report generation systems, and alerting & health systems\n\n* Experience testing full stack web applications using frameworks and tools\n\n* Strong writing skills, with experience crafting clear and concise documentation\n\n* A motivation for constant learning\n\n\n\n\nIcing on the cake\n\n\n* Experience with statistical analysis and trend data modeling\n\n* Experience with container orchestration technology kubernetes or ideally Nomad\n\n* A deep appreciation for design\n\n* A strange obsession with counting people (or what you can do with the resultant data)\n\n\n\n\nWhile we have offices in Syracuse (NY), San Francisco, and NYC, we embrace and have built a culture around remote work. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

INTRO: Web & Mobile App Development Opportunity at D RISK IT. Looking for a versatile full stack developer to build the second version of the HTML 5 app on Android & iOS, plus a new website as the 2nd phase of the business plan. \n\nDEVELOPMENT: Full stack development is required to build website tools and a HTML5 mobile app. Early page mock-ups of the website have mapped out the website requirements and version 2 of the mobile app does not involve many changes from the current prototype (which can be downloaded from www.drisk.it). Neither the app or website have complicated requirements and further details can be supplied. Website features are - incorporation of startup deal tools (similar to those in the app) and also a platform for investors and startup founders (the closest to it might be gust.com or angel.co). There will be user profiles / dashboard management and social networking components within the site. \n\nTHE DEAL: D RISK IT is a bootstrapped startup so the role would be for equity, although there would be a salary once investment had been secured several months down the road. The role could initially work around other part time activity if necessary but eventually aiming for the project to be full time. Depending upon experience, either co-founder role or just development for equity is offered, with an option to cash out at a funding round.\n\nPRODUCT: DRI (www.drisk.it) is a set of business tool, both for startups and those in the investment community (angel investors and VCs, etc). The startup tools use a scoring system that stress-tests aspects of the startup's deal proposition, with helpful de-risking tips along the way. There are also 2 calculation modules that focus on valuation and investor ROI. The business aims to be a data, analytics and business intelligence facility. There will be other subsidiary revenue opportunities but the main revenue is expected to be focused around business intelligence. \n
