Job Description

Theย Associate Director - Derivatives Salesย is an experienced financial professional who is dedicated to promoting and selling a wide range of derivatives products to clients, such as hedge funds, asset managers, and other financial institutions. Other responsibilities will include onboarding and managing the operational needs associated with trading activity.
This role will report to the Head of Derivatives and the primary function will be to grow revenue in new and existing products, sourcing new market participants, and helping existing customers with their trading needs. This is a remote role with some travel required.

Responsibilities:

      • Executing and enhancing Luxorโ€™s derivatives client acquisition and sales strategy.
      • Expand Luxorโ€™s derivatives revenue stream by growing our customer pipeline, generating new derivative trading opportunities, and developing the Hashrate derivative knowledge base across the traditional finance market participants (bitcoin miners, hedge funds, private equity, family offices, banks, and traditional market makers).
      • Supporting the trading activities of the derivatives desk, including real-time pricing information, trade execution, and settlement.
      • Building and maintaining relationships with clients to understand their trading and hedging objectives and identify opportunities to sell derivatives products that meet their needs.
      • Staying informed about the latest market conditions and trends, emerging products and services, and regulatory changes in the derivatives market.
      • Gathering market intelligence and providing feedback to the trading desk and product development teams.

Candidates should be able to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and be able to quickly analyze complex financial information. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also important, as this position will need to work closely with traders, bitcoin miners, and every department at Luxor.

Requirements:

    • Prior experience in derivatives sales, with a focus on futures markets, OTC markets, and digital asset derivatives.
    • Strong relationships with decision makers in multiple customer segments: Hedge Funds, Asset Managers, Prop Trading groups, Family Offices, Alt Funds, OTC trading desks, & FCMs
    • Strong interest in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Mining, and the Energy space
    • Familiarity with Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs) and Introducing Broker (IB) businesses is huge plus.

You'll implement end-to-end features: frontend implementations based on APIs built by others, APIs that may be implemented on the frontend by another engineer, bot services and lambdas that operate in the middle, plus tests for everything.\n\n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\nYou will be responsible for building new features, addressing bugs and technical debt, refining technical designs and architecture, making on-the-fly design decisions for 0-to-1 features, and generally being a very startup-y engineer. You will be building features that are immediately available to customers, notifications that inform customers of important process changes, and services that enable further expansion of Groupthink's capabilities.\n\n\nYou will always be collaborating on day-to-day activities including unblocking other engineers, reviewing PRs, and writing issues. Our Backend and Data Engineering Team is a four-person team (soon to be six!) and is part of our Engineering & Data Group โ€” a quirky, talented, and humble group of about twenty with diverse backgrounds ranging from journalism to academia to international industry.\n\nAbout Our Backend & Data Engineering Team\n\nThe Backend & Data Engineering Team builds software to collect, analyze, and report data about coffee farmersโ€™ conditions and practices. This large-scale data-collection effort requires many moving parts to work together, and we use technology to support that effort at every step of the process โ€” from identifying coffee farms in satellite imagery, to coordinating survey edits across country teams, to detecting data anomalies in real-time that can be investigated while teams are still in the field. A core part of our work is in data aggregation and report generation, with insights ultimately being shared with roasters and other stakeholders on how to assist in improving the social, economic, and environmental conditions of smallholder farmers. \n\nOur backend services primarily use a Python/PostgreSQL stack running on Linux. We use git and Github for maintaining our code, CircleCI for CI/CD, and AWS for hosting our services and static resources, with containerization where appropriate for development and deployment.\n\nWhat Youโ€™ll Be Doing\n\nYou will contribute to major feature planning and development, both independently and in collaboration with your teammates.\n\n\n* Implement new features on our core platforms, Jebena and Sini. Youโ€™ll participate in long-term planning and product roadmaps, collaborate with product managers on writing specs for the team to implement, and develop features from specs. You should be comfortable collaborating with non-Engineering teams to understand their feature needs. A lionโ€™s share of your time will be spent working with Python and PostgreSQL to add features to our internal platforms.\n\n* Maintenance and enhancements of existing code. Youโ€™ll work with other engineers to triage and resolve incoming issues (we use Sentry).\n\n* Manage AWS services.
