Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โ€“Africa Region


The Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โ€“ Africa Region is a collaboration between Certara, Pharmacometrics Africa, CP+ Associates, together with several pharma industry and academic partners, to provide an intensive fellowship program for talented and motivated doctoral level scientists from Africa.


The program has 2 components:


  • Virtual Program โ€“ A 3-month virtual program (Q1 2023) that will provide fellows with exposure to leading edge pharmacometric model based analysis. The time commitment will be significant (e.g. a minimum of 20 hours per week over the duration of the Virtual Program.
  • Immersion Program โ€“ Upon completion of the Virtual Program, fellows will have the option to extend the program for another 3 months to an project-based program led by Certara and partners from pharma and academia. The program is designed to foster professional development through immersive training on all competencies required for regulatory quality pharmacometrics analyses and reports. Guided by industry mentors, the fellows will receive class-room training, are assigned individual jointly-agreed upon, precompetitive projects and participate in a leadership development program designed to enhance their decision-making and communication skills.


The Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โ€“ Africa Region aims to build scientific and leadership capability in Africa by enhancing the skills of local scientists and by facilitating knowledge transfer to their wider scientific communities. The relationships forged between the hosts of this program and the fellows' home institutions will further the endeavour to create next-generation medicines to ease suffering and improve quality of life for patient populations around the world. Successful participants in this program will be considered as candidates to join the consulting team for Certara located on-site in Africa.

Included in the internship
  • Scientific/clinical research infrastructure and training: All necessary equipment, training and operational needs will be provided by the program hosts and their partners to support investigation of a jointly agreed-upon, pre-competitive (non-proprietary) clinical pharmacology scientific question.
  • For the participants who are selected into the Immersion Program the program sponsors will provide :
    • Travel, accommodation & visas: (1) round-trip economy class airfare, (2) student-style accommodation for the duration of the on-site program, and (3) support for educational visa applications.
    • Stipend and health insurance: health insurance and a monthly stipend to cover incidentals and basic living expenses.
  • Timelines & Location: The 3-month Virtual Program is planned to start in mid-January 2023. The start of the 3-month Immersion Program is planned for 2Q2023.

Qualifications


Eligibility to this program is based on the following criteria:


  • You have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. pharmaceutical, medical or biological sciences, applied mathematics or statistics)
  • You have recently completed your PhD or equivalent studies (i.e. early to mid-career)
  • You should already have done at least 1 clinical pharmacology or pharmacometrics data analysis project using descriptive or a model-based methods
  • You have evidence of completing relevant courses on model-based analysis methods e.g. Pharmacometrics Africa courses or equivalent
  • You are a proficient English speaker and based in an African country
  • You have demonstrated strong team player skills

As our European Supply Chain Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead the supply chain efforts for our European branches. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by providing KPIโ€™s back to the business leaders on their supply chain needs, including cost improvement metrics. So, what will you be doing as our European Supply Chain Manager?

  • Collaborate with L&P branches, Logistics offices and European service providers to execute shipments as required.
  • Develop an understanding and maintain documentation of L&P Branches / Suppliers and customers needs for shipping intra Europe and Internationally, including road freight, ocean freight, air freight, consolidation and deconsolidation needs and develop SOPs (Standard Operation Procedures) to ensure that such needs are met.
  • Maintain and develop positive business relationships with internal branchโ€™s key personnel involved in or directly relevant to Logistics activities.
  • Monitor performance of key external service providers. Communicate to management service failures and help develop action plans to correct for future shipments. Monitor implementation of process improvements.
  • Identify, evaluate & implement opportunities to leverage L&P volumes with current service providers utilizing multiple business units.
  • Coordinate project analysis, bids, etc. for existing business units with existing or potential service providers.
  • Assist with new service provider set ups through SOPโ€™s and required service provider documents.
  • Collaborate with Business unit Purchasing & Sales departments and Logistics offices as necessary to meet customer requirements
  • Develop & Incorporate KPIโ€™s to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement with freight forwarders, ocean carriers against benchmarks and service agreements to improve support for our business units. Report findings along with suggested improvement solutions on a quarterly basis.
  • Provide feedback updates regarding market details for air, ocean and intra Europe trucking to management & Business Units.
  • Work with Logistics systems, Accounting & other Logistics offices to ensure visibility & financial data integrity of shipments.
  • Report cost savings / cost avoidance opportunities to management.


To be successful in this role, youโ€™ll need:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Management, Operations Management, or related field, or suitable combination of education and training
  • 5+ yearsโ€™ experience in the transportation and logistics industry, including 2+ years in a management role
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Excellent organization skills, proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • You can read, write and speak English fluently.

Things we consider a plus:

  • 3-4 yearsโ€™ experience working directly with/for Freight Forwarders to support ocean & air shipments

    Job Description

    The Study Director reports to the VP of Lithium Development Projects and is responsible for planning, tracking, reporting, monitoring, and task assigning and self-performance of project activities assuring that the overall project study requirements are met in accordance with the Albemarle project study framework.

    Key Job Responsibilities
    • Formulate a project study deliverables plan
    • Assign required internal and external resources to the study plan
    • Management of project resources through the study cycle, coordination and administration, utilizing the Albemarle standards specific to the phase of the project
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments to track progress to plan and provide accurate progress updates to Albemarle Management, in specific earnt value of work completed and forecasted, forecasted future financial outflows for financial year planning
    • Compile regular (monthly, quarterly, yearly) progress reports and portfolio updates as may be required by the Albemarle project management office and finance department
    • Set in place the formulation of the key building blocks of a project study in accordance with the specific study phase criteria contained in the Albemarle APP to support an investment case.
    The key items specifically of focus for the study manager to assemble, coordinate or create include:
    • The Opportunity/Problem Statement
    • The alternatives considered to produce an investment case
    • The technical solutions or technologies available in support of the proposed alternatives
    • Business risk assessment of the alternatives and project scope
    • Defining the ultimate project scope
    • Project Approval approach
    • Project execution strategy and plan
    • Project time and cost estimates
    • Project risk assessments for each phase, and outcomes ranging, and
    • Financial modeling and investment case compilation
    • Coordinate the study outputs and document in the format of a study report and recommendations,
    • Manage the process of internal and external reviews of the project study report, project peer reviews and risk reviews
    • Provide project leadership to deliver sustainable outcomes whilst achieving project delivery on โ€œtimeโ€ on โ€œbudgetโ€ on โ€œscopeโ€
    • Ensure conformance with the Albemarle Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;

    Remote Digital Products Coordinator

    Your mission


    As a Digital Products Coordinator, you will be part of the Group Marketing & Technology department making the magic to bring our digital products and easification to the next level!


    You will be responsible for and/or participate in projects, such as:


    • Development/improvement, implementation and roll-out monitoring of our digital products
    • Development of sales & marketing collaterals for our digital products and 365-Connect strategy
    • Production of content for the Academy Online (our internal e-learning platform), to maximise learning experience & engagement of our sales & marketing teams across the Group
    • Training of new users and collection & sharing of Best Practices
    • Process improvement to increase efficiency & adoption from our team members and customers (visitors & exhibitors)


    This will include some travels to our various events and offices across Europe.

    • Deepen their strategic drug development expertise and their experience informing drug development decisions.
    • Hone their pharmacometric techniques with fit-for-purpose modelling approaches leveraging e.g. model-based meta-analysis, target-mediated drug disposition models, and E-R trial-simulations.
    • Broaden their drug development expertise by working with a myriad of companies, molecular modalities, and therapeutic areas.

    Responsibilities
    • Support projects for Certaraโ€™s clients by working in teams with other Associates, senior expert modelers, and drug development consultants.
    • Hands on pharmacometric modeling on client projects as a billable consultant.
    • Conduct quality control activities on model codes and reports.
    • May lead/coordinate company initiatives (e.g. IT, methodology, efficiency, automation, quality).
    • May act as the primary point of contact for clients and collaborate with a senior consultant to grow business to match their interests.

    Qualifications
    • PhD, MD, PharmD in Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Medicine, or related field.
    • 1 to 5 years of industry/consulting experience (may be combined with academic research) working in R&D, pre-clinical and clinical environments.
    • Solid experience in pharmacometrics, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, or a related discipline in a project team setting is preferred, whether in academia or industry.
    • Expertise in PK/PD modelling with strong quantitative skills applied to develop models with nonlinear behavior, mechanistic or semi-mechanistic components relating to mechanism of action and tailored to meet specific drug-development questions.
    • Proficiency in PK/PD and statistical software (e.g., NONMEM, R).
    • Proficient in modeling (e.g., popPK and PK/PD analyses, model-based meta- analysis, dose-response and exposure-response analyses, dataset creation, disease modeling, trial simulation, optimal study designs, strategic decision analyses, economic modeling).
    • Experience in moving compounds through the clinical trials process and experience with various elements of clinical development and trial design and management and filings preferred.
    • Independent performance of analysis and modeling and development of reports with limited supervision.
    • Comfortable in a client environment able to communicate with and collaborate with peer scientists.
    • Developing ability to identify new business development opportunities through client interactions.
    • Proficient in spoken and written English. Certara is a global company, and additional languages are of benefit.
