Remote Embedded Software Engineer Embedded Linux
\n Zoox is looking for a software engineer to join our Embedded Linux team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, extending, and maintaining embedded Linux platforms for the Zoox vehicle. You will work closely with embedded software and validation engineers to enable support for new advanced platforms and accelerate application development across multiple projects. We are looking for people who are passionate about software and open-source projects and creating robust andreusablee software. \n\n\n\nResponsibilities \n* Architect, develop, debug, optimize, review, and test software for Linux-embedded platforms\n* Leverage multiple open-source projects to expand Linux systems' capabilities\n* Develop new and maintain existing features for custom-embedded Linux boards\n* Build Custom Linux distribution based on the manufacturer's Board Support Packages\n* Contribute to all phases of the software development cycle including prototyping, requirements capture, design, implementation, and validation\n\n\n\nQualifications\n* Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer sciences, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience\n* 5+ years of previous development experience on Linux\n* Experience developing native user mode applications is required\n* C99 programming experience\n* Experience in Bash and Python scripting\n* Experience debugging complex problems or remote systems\n\n\n\nBonus Qualifications\n* Linux kernel. Experience, in controlling hardware from the kernel\n* Experience with Yocto or other embedded Linux build frameworks\n* Experience with Security: certificates, PKI, encryption/signing algorithms\n* C++ 14 experience\n* Exposure to STL and Boost is highly desirable \n\n\n\n\n\nCompensation\nThere are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $165,000 to $215,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
