With a team of 10 developers, we are looking for a new teammate excited about cloud technologies. You will be the one in charge of our cloud architecture and we will rely on you to help us build and evolve our AWS/K8s stack, develop and continuously improve our deployment strategies and ensure observability is in place. We are in the middle of migrating all of our services to AWS and Kubernetes and you’ll be highly involved in this process. You’ll get to work with a team of experienced developers who always welcome feedback and ❤️ to give one as well.

2 years of professional experience as a system administrator or DevOps engineer
Working experience with:
-Kubernetes
-AWS

Who you are:
We are currently looking to hire a Backend Engineer. The ideal candidate has proven development skills, deep experience building APIs, familiarity with various database systems (SQL, noSQL, Graph), and experience working as part of a development team in a D2C startup environment.
As part of our Tech team, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of our products and will focus on building, iterating, and optimizing our admin environment, and other new and existing components of our digital ecosystem.
We expect the ideal candidate to take ownership of project delivery with a self-starter attitude. A collaborative work ethic and easy-going nature is a must.
You will be part of a team collaborating with different stakeholders across the company, from Science, to Research and Veterinary, to Marketing, Tech, and Design.
A native level of English both spoken and written is preferred.
Responsibilities
Design and implement server-side components of a modern web application
Actively participate in the overall application lifecycle.
Define and communicate technical requirements.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define product requirements, including project managers, backend and frontend developers, designers and others.
Write high-quality reusable code ensuring high performance.
Knowledge And Skills
Proven hands-on backend web development experience.
In-depth understanding of web development and proficient knowledge of Node.js, Javascript, Python.
Strong knowledge of API development and Service Oriented Architectures: Microservices, RESTful.
Deep experience with Git is a must.
Expertise with all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from discovery phase to delivery.
Experience with various database systems (SQL, NoSQL, graph). Proven experience with Amazon DynamoDB is a plus.
Experience creating user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments.
Capability to integrate multiple data sources into one system.
Experience deploying to AWS cloud services: S3, Cloudfront, EC2, API Gateway.
Ability to take concepts into actionable architecture and plans.
Experience building “admin dashboard” applications is a plus.
Plus capabilities
Knowledge of front-end technologies and platforms, such as HTML5, and CSS3, React, Ionic.
Experience working in direct-to-consumer companies and brands.
Experience building backend for mobile applications.
Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks such as Cypress.
Previous experience or interest in data analysis.

\nThe Lead Developer for our college readiness skills learning support system, called JUICE, will have a unique opportunity to own the MEAN technology stack and software development for an innovative tutorial learning system we’re creating for College for America (CfA) at Southern New Hampshire University. CfA is an online, radically affordable, competency-based program for underserved working adults. We’ve been nationally recognized for innovation and received a 4-year First in the World grant from the US Department of Education to design and develop a fully online competency-based learning system to support students’ foundational college readiness skills in an entirely new way. We’re completing the learning design phase now, we have a key technology partner on board for educational game design, and we’re looking for the right senior software engineer with great experience who is looking for an opportunity to own application development for this new learning technology. We work as a small, cross-functional team within a very friendly group of creative, smart educators at College for America. We work remotely as well as onsite here in the Manchester office.\n\nJUICE is being developed in a Cloud-based, modular architecture based on the MEAN stack (MongoDB-Express-AngularJS-Node.js) for delivery of the learning experiences. JUICE technology makes ample use of open source software and low-initial investment services.
