\nThe Opportunity\n\nThe Intermediate Accountant assumes a pivotal role within our accounting department, taking on increased responsibilities in financial accounting and reporting processes. With a focus on optimizing efficiency and accuracy, this position contributes to the development and implementation of accounting strategies and initiatives to support the company's growth trajectory.\n\nWhat You'll Be Doing\n\n\n* Oversee Accounts Payable processes, including verifying accuracy of vendor invoices and employee expenses.\n\n* Oversight of sales tax returns and compliance.\n\n* Prepare biweekly cash flow reports to monitor cash on hand, project cash inflows and outflows and purpose transfers to address cash demands.\n\n* Lead Accounts Receivable activities, including oversight of client onboarding, reviewing of contracts and client invoicing, and managing outstanding balances.\n\n* Coordinate month-end closing procedures, preparing complex journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals for various accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.\n\n* Analyze financial data and provide insights to stakeholders, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement.\n\n* Act as a key liaison during external audits, facilitating requests and providing necessary documentation and explanations.\n\n* Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounting function, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.\n\n* Mentor and support junior members of the accounting team, providing guidance and fostering their professional development.\n\n* Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects and initiatives, leveraging financial expertise to achieve organizational objectives.\n\n\n\n\nWhat You'll Need\n\nEducation:\n\n\n* Bachelorโs degree in an applicable field, i.e., accounting or finance preferred; CPA designation is an asset.\n\n\n\n\nExperience:\n\n\n* 3-5 years experience in professional accounting roles.\n\n\n\n\nKey Competencies and Skills:\n\n\n* Proficiency in accounting principles and financial reporting requirements, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.\n\n* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.\n\n* Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.\n\n* Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues and implement solutions proactively.\n\n* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint) with exceptional Excel skills\n\n* Experience with NetSuite an asset\n\n* Experience with an established payroll platform such as ADP, or Ceridian an asset\n\n* US GAAP experience an asset\n\n\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
