Remote Senior Staff Software Engineer Business Platform
What youโll do\n\nAs the Senior Staff Software Engineer for Scout Motorโs digital products and services, you will be responsible for leading teams of highly skilled software engineers and driving the development of digital solutions and services for our customers and business partners. Some of the key products as part of digital portfolio are โ order management, customer management, production, inventory and planning optimization, loyalty, merchandise, servicing and repairs, mobile app, vehicle connectivity, charging, and more. You will work with engineering managers, senior engineers, and cross-functional partners to design the technical underpinnings of multiple products and services. At the same time, youโll have plenty of opportunities to be hands-on building key systems and will be directly responsible for the successful delivery of complex and large-scale technical efforts as well acting as a technical mentor and leader for other engineers.\n\nBecome part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:\n\n\n* Work with engineers & technical leaders across the company to ship interoperable products and services on strong foundations that manage customer interactions inside and outside of the vehicle.\n\n* Partner with cross-functional partners to produce how and when plans to support systems and product requirements. Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation\n\n* Assess and recommend key tools and technology decisions that will power the digital ecosystem. Influence decisions on build/buy/partner, contemplating todayโs needs, and future enterprise requirements.\n\n* Own and drive the technical roadmap and architecture for scout business services and processes. Manage and extend services and infrastructure, constantly improving and adding new features, while driving operational excellence.\n\n* Develop technology and best practices capable of supporting scalable, functional, and reliable products, services and their associated integrations.\n\n* Promote and drive best practices and industry standards across the company.\n\n* Champion software engineering and operational excellence, establishing and improving metrics and processes. Set a high bar for engineering standards, tooling, and processes.\n\n* Assist in calibrating and developing the software engineering team.\n\n* Recruit and manage a team of software engineers, setting the bar for quality software development.\n\n\n\n\n \n\nLocation & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events occasionally. The role will be based out of a Scout Motors location in Fremont, CA or Remote. This role is open to remote applicants in the United States with the exception of New York City. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City. Here's what else you'll bring: \n\n\n* Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.\n\n* 7+ years of experience in software engineering and scaling software products and services, providing technical leadership and direction for development, preferably with a focus on back-end platform and services development.\n\n* Experience building comprehensive understanding of APIs, microservices, databases, integrations and other complex backend systems.\n\n* Strong coding skills, navigating codebases with different languages and tools (GoLang, React, Kotlin, Swift, gRPC, GraphQL), building and managing ci/cd pipelines supporting services, web and mobile releases.\n\n* Knowledge of potential system vulnerabilities and how to prevent them.\n\n* Experience operating in start-up settings, launching 0 to 1 products and services, and driving graduation to highly complex and scalable services and applications.\n\n* Experience as a technical lead for large projects (6-12+ months in length), including defining the roadmap for complex projects spanning multiple teams and functions\n\n* Ability to internalize the best ideas from across the organization, humbly setting a vision that others are excited to get behind\n\n* Experience integrating with 3rd party platforms and partnering with external service providers.\n\n* 5+ years in leading high-performing software engineering teams.
