\nOverview of Position\n\nVarsity Tutors, a leading private tutoring and test prep technology platform, is seeking a talented Android Developer. We are one of the fastest growing companies in education and we are looking for a talented developer to help with the creation and implementation of our Android mobile applications. The Android Developer will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and be heavily involved in building elegant, high-tech mobile applications for our educational products and services. This is a virtual position for applicants outside of St. Louis and for those in St. Louis it will be a based in our corporate office in Clayton, MO.\n\nQualifications\n\n\n* 4+ years of work experience developing Android applications on phone and tablets\n\n* Android Mobile App UI design experience\n\n* Experience in Android NDK, XML layouts\n\n* Experience with UI/UX design\n\n* Experience with Android 4.2+\n\n* Experience with other mobile platform development tools and operating systems\n\n* Have shipped more than 2+ apps to the Google Play store\n\n* Experience with HTML5, JavaScript & CSS\n\n* 8+ years software product development experience ( mix of iOS, Android, Windows, OS X, Web)\n\n\n\n\nThese extra skills would be fantastic \n\n\n* Experience in Android 5.0 (Lollipop)\n\n* Ability to turn Photoshop mockups into functioning software\n\n* Experience with any of these languages C, C++,Java, C#,Obj-C\n\n* SQL\n\n\n\n\nPlease provide references or links to examples of your work (portfolio, sites you have helped design and develop) in your cover letter\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Participate in full app life-cycle: concept, design, build, deploy, test, and release to app store\n\n* Work with existing code base to add and maintain new and existing features for Android applications\n\n* Design and develop high performance and user-friendly, native Android mobile applications\n\n* Work with other developers and the Varsity Team to design new features and enhance services\n\n* Motivated starter that is obsessed with improving workflow through better user-interfaces\n\n\n\n\nWhat we offer full-time employees\n\n\n* Cutting-edge company issued technology\n\n* 52 hours of free tutoring per year for you or immediate family (Taking a trip to Italy soon? At the heart of Music Prodigy is its real-time polyphonic pitch detection which provides any user access to immediate performance assessment for any instrument, including voice and polyphonic instruments like acoustic guitar and piano. As such, Music Prodigy technologies have been and are being used by hundreds of thousands of users: teachers, students, and do-it-yourself music learners.\n\nThis software engineer will have have a front-end focus and will implement user-experience improvements using the existing software code base. As needed, this role will also provide “hot-fix” support as users find bugs. An individual who can flexibly code in a variety of languages and technologies will excel at this position.
