This means we operate as the bridge between our main audiences, but also as a connector, helping Customers find Providers and vice versa.\n\nAs a leader in this area, youโll grow and manage two teams of engineers focused on building exciting new functional areas and enhancing our existing offering. Youโll support and develop your teamโs skills, adapting to changes, while rolling up your sleeves to work on problems with them. \n\nThe role: \n\nReporting to a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, the Manager, Software Engineering will work with members of your team to support and develop their skills and career, as we work together to empower small businesses. In addition, you will be heavily involved in the strategic direction of growth in how we work and what we work on.\n\nThe Manager, Software Engineering will:\n\n\n* Live and breathe performance facilitation. You want to work with your team(s) to help them master their individual crafts, while also collaborating to build extraordinary experiences and systems.\n\n* Be committed to the success of your people. You will help them set goals, have regular 1-on-1s, and provide constructive feedback and coaching to ensure your team's success. Youโll work to understand employeesโ career direction and work to empower their journey by acting as a mentor and coach. \n\n* Develop a world-class team alongside a world-class growth organization. Youโll participate in recruiting events and the hiring process while also working to level up your internal team while implementing new processes, all to develop a world-class Growth department.\n\n* Remove roadblocks and build guardrails. Whether itโs our Design and Management teams within Product, or our Business Technology and Marketing teams, youโre working closely with other Jobberinos to find the best solutions in Jobber for small businesses.\n\n\n\n\nTo be successful, you should have:\n\n\n* A track record of success in being an established software engineer, as well as time spent in a leadership position, guiding a team in the delivery of quality software.\n\n* Previous experience leading change, and delivering on company vision.\n\n* The ability to be agile in an agile environment. Youโll need to be able to lead and teach your team to adapt to change, while also thinking critically and creatively to find answers to problems.\n\n* Effective communication. Being transparent with your team and establishing an open dialogue will be a key to success in supporting your coaching conversations and discussions.\n\n* Collaboration down to an art. Youโll work with your direct reports or other teams to understand what they want to accomplish and develop a plan to achieve it.\n\n* To be a leader and mentor.
