\nAt M-KOPA we are looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Acquisition Sales Group. You will have experience working remotely in a DevOps environment. You are keen on team collaboration and pair programing. You will be eager working in problems related to our Sales process (for example, onboarding customers and doing Know-your-customer (KYC) checks, or managing our Sales Agents by using our internal CRMs). You will be also working in our new greenfield commission system, while building an event driven architecture.\n\n\nIt is a fully remote role #LI-Remote, within the following time zone (UTC -1 / UTC+3). Our engineers work remotely from locations such as UK, Europe and Africa. You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager.\n\n\n\nAbout this role:\n* We pay important emphasis in Infrastructure as Code, Observability, and Automated Testing in all environments, including Production, which will be part in your daily job.\n* We foster autonomy inside the teams, while keeping some standards across the company. \nThis is a senior engineering position on M-KOPA’s highly talented distributed backend engineering team. You will work with a team of engineers, product managers, and testers to deliver solidly architected + tested services, and to maintain those services in production. \n\nREQUIREMENTS\n\nEducation: A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience / self-directed learning. (We care much more about your skills than about how you acquired them)\n\nExperience: At least 5+ years of experience working as a professional software engineer/architect on medium/large scale distributed systems\n\nKnowledge / Skills:\n\n\n* Experience shipping high-quality backend code into production.\n\n* Experience orchestrating and managing cloud infrastructure (preferably in the infrastructure-as-code paradigm, or a willingness to learn)\n\n* Comfort with the devops culture, and with the idea of being involved with the management of the systems that you build through their entire lifecycle.\n\n* Collaborative spirit and a strong desire to learn from teammates and to work as part of a team that is greater than the sum of its parts.\n\n* Experience with C# would be an asset but, for the right candidate, experience with any object-oriented language can easily substitute.\n\n* Experience building software for the financial services industry would be an asset.\n\n* Fluent in English\n\n\n\n\nWe offer a very supportive distributed and diverse team environment and are able to offer a contract of employment in the UK, Kenya, Uganda or Nigeria or a 3 year consultancy contract in countries which are within +/- 3 hours UTC time zone.\n\nM-KOPA is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to assembling a diverse, broadly trained staff.
