\nAs Lead Backend Engineer, you will\n\n\n* \n\nTechnical Leadership:\n\n\n* Provide technical leadership to your team: review code, formulate solutions, and offer technical guidance and mentorship.\n\n* Lead architecture discussions and contribute to enhancing the developer experience.\n\n* Oversee the implementation and testing of solutions.\n\n\n\n\nProject Ownership:\n\n\n* Own business requirements and work independently to solve problems.\n\n* Understand business needs, provide estimations, translate them into technical requirements, and lead implementation.\n\n\n\n\nDevelopment and Maintenance:\n\n\n* Design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices architecture.\n\n* Utilise our tech stack: Python, Flask, SQLAlchemy, Marshmallow, Postgres, RQ, SQS, GitHub.\n\n* Participate in a weekly on-call rota with other backend developers (normal business hours only)\n\n\n\n\nCollaboration and Communication:\n\n\n* Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\n* Work within a cross-functional team of developers and product managers to design features and solutions for our warehouse fulfilment software.\n\n\n\n\nInfrastructure and Monitoring:\n\n\n* Manage and deploy microservices using Kubernetes on AWS\n\n* Use monitoring and logging tools such as Sentry, Grafana, and Loki.\n\n\n\n\nAgile Practices:\n\n\n* Embrace and implement agile methodologies, CI/CD, and modern development practices.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is what you will need to succeed \n\nExperience:\n\n\n* Minimum of 5 years of backend development experience, with at least 3 years in Python.\n\n* Proven ability to own business requirements and independently solve complex problems.\n\n* Past experience with agile practices, CI/CD, deployment, and monitoring.\n\n\n\n\nTechnical Skills:\n\n\n* Strong proficiency in Python, Flask and Postgres.\n\n* Experience with RQ and SQS.\n\n* Familiarity with GitHub and version control practices.\n\n* Knowledge of microservices architecture.\n\n* Experience with Kubernetes on AWS and containerised applications.\n\n* Proficiency in monitoring and logging tools such as Sentry, Grafana, and Loki.\n\n\n\n\nSoft Skills:\n\n\n* Strong communication skills: ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\n* Strong organisational skills.\n\n* Ability to mentor and lead mid-level developers.\n\n* Comfortable with honest feedback - you are not afraid to give and receive it.\n\n* Constructive “can do” attitude to problem-solving\n\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
