ESPN editorial design team is looking for a front end developer with a strong background in building JavaScript applications and interactions. Our team supports the development of all ESPN domestic and international online editorial. In this position you will develop advanced online applications, sites and pages through responsive, cross-browser HTML, CSS and JavaScript.\n\nResponsibilities\n- Collaborates with design to concept complex layouts across breakpoints\n- Develops interactive prototypes utilized for testing storytelling concepts and interactions\n- Participates in developing the front end code base and standards for the editorial design team\n- Introducing digital innovation to existing infrastructure with a focus on mobile and emerging technologies\n- Expected to proactively communicate with critical partners as needed. Also, to clearly communicate how certain design decisions could affect performance\n- May be required to assist in the training and mentoring of members of the team\n\nBasic Qualifications\n- Demonstrated ability to develop advanced and complex handwritten front end code following web standards (HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript)\n- Development experience using Javascript libraries (jQuery, Greensock, etc.) to create complex online applications\n- Solid understanding of responsive web development and device limitations\n- Demonstrated ability to convert Sketch/Photoshop/Illustrator/ designs to pixel-perfect HTML/CSS\n- Applies advanced analytical skills in identifying and evaluating functions required for complex JavaScript development\n- Mac and PC experience and understanding of browser testing across platforms\n- Experience working within a collaborative development environment (GitHub experience preferred)\n- Self-motivated, a natural problem-solver, and a good communicator with a demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, both independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nPreferred Skills\n- Demonstrated track record as a developer on high traffic Web sites\n- Demonstrated experience with creation of svg graphics and animations using Javascript SVG libraries (i.e. snap.svg)\n- Design experience and understanding of user interaction\n\n\nInterested candidates should present a body of work that:\n- Proves their facility with front end development, responsive development, javascript libraries, templating and interactions and advanced interface functionality\n- All applicants should supply an online portfolio URL with their applications.\n\n\nRequired Education \nHigh School Diploma\n\nPreferred Education\nBachelor's Degree in related field.\n\nCompany Overview\nAt Disney, weโre storytellers.
