Ascend is a fast growing and profitable company with opportunity for advancement. \n\n \n\nJob Responsibilities \n\n\n* Installing and maintaining the Oracle RDBMS \n\n* Managing/maintaining challenging database storage structures and backups \n\n* Setting up database user accounts \n\n* Regularly updating database security protocols \n\n* Query tuning and debugging application issues related to database use \n\n* Refactor database maintenance processes for improved performance, stability, and scalability \n\n* Work with our team of developers, analysts and data scientists \n\n* Communicate clearly and effectively (orally and in writing) with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders \n\n* Contribute to scoping and design discussions \n\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications \n\n\n* Bachelor's degree (B. A./ B. S.) from four-year College or University in computer engineering or computer science \n\n* Strong understanding of relational databases under high transaction rates \n\n* Oracle/PostGreSQL RDBMS \n\n* Experience with Azure/OCI-hosted databases \n\n* High availability/redundant RDBMS configurations \n\n* Complex SQL Language \n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications \n\n\n* Strong background in programming related to applied mathematical, engineering, and physical sciences \n\n* Performance computing, including distributed and parallel computing technologies \n\n* Oracle and PL/SQL \n\n* Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) \n\n* MDX/XMLA \n\n* Ability to communicate with impact and confidence, both orally and in writing \n\n* Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, and work ethic \n\n* Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets; passion for renewables and storage \n\n* Experience with code review, architecture, development, and promotion processes \n\n\n\n\nCompensation: $100,000 - $130,000 \n\nNegotiable based on qualifications and experience.
