Remote Accounts Receivable Specialist

Partnering with providers and health plans, including CMS' new GUIDE dementia care model, Synapticure is dedicated to transforming the lives of millions of individuals and their families living with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimerโs, Parkinsonโs and ALS.\n\n\n\n\nThe Role\nYou will work closely with our finance, data and operations teams, utilizing your knowledge of medical coding standards and regulations including private insurers, Medicare and Veterans Affairs, to ensure accurate coding, compliance, and appropriate reimbursement. This position requires the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, virtual environment, with a detail-oriented approach and exceptional technical coding knowledge and skills. \nYouโll work remotely, with occasional travel to Chicago or other locations to meet with your colleagues. \n\n\n\nJob Duties โ What youโll be doing \n* Employ techniques to assign appropriate codes for medical procedures, diagnoses, and services, including CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and applicable modifiers.\n* Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of patient medical records, encounter forms, and related documents to verify coding accuracy and adherence to guidelines.\n* Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to address questions and discrepancies.\n* Keep abreast of evolving regulations, policies, and reimbursement methodologies, adjusting coding practices to remain compliant and up-to-date.\n* Validate claims and invoices for coding accuracy and adherence to Medicare and VA requirements, promptly identifying and addressing any inconsistencies.\n* Participate in the creation of reports and audits for internal and external evaluations, including quality assurance and compliance assessments.\n* Maintain effective communication with finance, data and clinical teams to ensure the smooth submission and processing of claims, ensuring proper reimbursement.\n\n\n\nRequirements โ What we look for in you\n* Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent coding certification\n* Minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical coder\n* Proficiency in coding systems such as CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS, accompanied by an understanding of coding guidelines and policies \n* Strong written and verbal communication abilities for effective collaboration within virtual interdisciplinary teams and addressing coding queries \n* Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing tools \n* Experience conducting coding audits and quality assurance assessments \n* Expertise with maintenance of fee schedules within an EHR/RCM system, including managing billing\n* Familiarity with Medicare and VA-specific coding systems and procedures \n* Previous experience with outpatient care and/or telehealth-specific billing protocols \n* Demonstrated success in a virtual work environment\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur values\nWeโre founded by a patient and caregiver, and weโre a remote-first company.
