Remote Senior Accountant
\n\nVOLT is building the next generation of AI perception systems for the physical world, focused on safety, security, and real-time risk detection.\nWe are seeking a Senior Accountant to help build the financial backbone of a fast-scaling Series B company. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role that combines day-to-day accounting execution with the systems and process work required to take VOLT through its first full external audit and into Series C.\nThis role reports directly to the CFO.\n\n\n\n\n\nAs Senior Accountant, your role will include:\n\n\nClose & Reporting: Own significant portions of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close โ journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, deferred revenue, and balance sheet reconciliations โ to deliver a fast, clean, defensible close every period.\n\n\n\nRevenue Recognition: Drive accurate ASC 606 revenue recognition for multi-year, multi-element software and deployment contracts, and partner with Sales and Legal on contract review for non-standard terms.\n\n\n\nAudit Readiness: Help prepare VOLT for and lead the company through its first full external financial audit โ owning PBC schedules, working papers, technical memos, and direct interaction with external auditors.\n\n\n\nOrder-to-Cash: Manage invoicing, accounts receivable, collections, and customer billing inquiries, ensuring revenue and AR are accurate and clean for both reporting and audit.\n\n\n\nProcure-to-Pay: Manage AP, vendor onboarding, expense reports, corporate card programs, and 1099 reporting to keep spend controlled, compliant, and well-documented.\n\n\n\nTax: Manage corporate income tax, multi-jurisdiction sales and use tax, property tax, and other state and federal filings in partnership with external advisors. Own the tax calendar end-to-end and ensure VOLT stays current and compliant as the business expands.\n\n\n\nPayroll: Own the payroll function, including semi-monthly payroll runs, payroll tax filings, benefits and 401(k) reconciliations, equity compensation accounting, and partnership with People Ops on new hires, terminations, and multi-state and international payroll as VOLT grows. Compute sales commissions and \n\n\n\nPolicies & Controls: Build and document scalable accounting policies and internal controls that hold up under audit and scale beyond the current stage, with an eye toward SOC-readiness over time.\n\n\n\nSystems & Automation: Improve the finance tech stack (ERP, billing, expense, AP automation), helping evaluate, implement, and optimize tools as the business scales.\n\n\n\nCross-Functional Partnership: Partner with FP&A, GTM, and Operations to ensure clean financial data flows into reporting, forecasting, and Board materials.\n\n\nSales and Use Tax: Complete implementation of the Sales and Use tax system. Ensure sales and use tax are properly collected and remitted to taxing authorities. Collect customer exemption certificates and maintain.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis role could be a fit for you if you bring:\n\n\nAccounting Expertise: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong working knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition for software and subscription contracts.\n\n\n\nClose Ownership: Experience owning a monthly close end-to-end, including reconciliations, accruals, and flux analysis.\n\n\n\nAudit Experience: Demonstrated experience supporting an external audit โ PBC management, walkthroughs, and schedule preparation. Bonus if youโve helped a company prepare for its first full external audit.\n\n\n\nSystems Fluency: Hands-on experience with a modern ERP (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar) and adjacent billing, expense, and AP automation tools.\n\n\n\nProcess & Detail: Excellent attention to detail and process discipline; you take pride in clean ledgers, tight reconciliations, and well-documented workpapers.\n\n\n\nCommunication: Strong communicator and partner; comfortable working with auditors, advisors, and non-finance teams across the company.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBonus points for:\n\n\nCPA license, or actively pursuing CPA.\n\n\n\nBig 4 / public accounting background followed by industry experience.\n\n\n\nExperience scaling accounting in a Series B / Series C SaaS environment.\n\n\n\nExperience with hardware, edge devices, or blended software + hardware revenue models.\n\n\n\nExperience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance programs.\n\n\n\nExperience automating manual close steps and improving close cycle time.\n\n\n\nHands-on experience with modern payroll platforms (Gusto, Rippling, Justworks, ADP, or similar) and multi-state or international payroll.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVOLT Values\n\n\nBe Direct: We say what we mean and give clear, candid feedback.\n\n\n\nMove Fast: We ship, learn, and decide with urgency.\n\n\n\nCustomer Centric: We start and end every decision with the customer.\n\n\nBuild the Impossible: We tackle hard problems others wonโt and find a way through.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$90,000 - $100,000 a year\n
