\nOPERATIONS ENGINEER (STARSHIP ELECTRONICS PRODUCTION)\n\nBecome a part of the Starship team which is working to revolutionize orbital flight and space travel by opening access for humankind to establish new frontiers in space and ultimately make humankind a multi-planetary species. \n\nOur team is not only designing and building some of the finest electrical hardware to have flown in space but also doing so at a cost and rate previously considered unthinkable in the space industry. As a Starship Electronics Operations Engineer, you will keep the department organized and ensure the team has the materials and work processes required to build successfully on time. \n\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\n\n\n* Ensure demand signal accuracy across all Starship Electronics products to clearly communicate and uphold schedule for the Starship program\n\n* Develop KPIs and dashboards to measure success within the factory\n\n* Drive factory layout changes that minimize line down time, including coordinating with vendors, the SpaceX facilities team, and external general/sub-contractors\n\n* Ownership of optimized and accurate floor layouts that streamline part flow to meet production rate\n\n* Define new business processes and systems for high volume production, including manufacturing execution, inventory management, nonconformance resolution, configuration management, material traceability, process control, and maintenance\n\n* Act as subject matter expert in multiple Starship production processes and systems, enabling complex data gathering, troubleshooting, and problem solving\n\n* Assist the production leadership team to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices for optimizing product output, quality enhancements, and cost of manufacturability\n\n* Consistently contribute effort, leadership, and creative thinking to solving complex problems in a collaborative fashion and under tight deadlines\n\n* Collaborate across disciplines including Production, Engineering, Test, Inventory, Quality, Software, and Supply Chain to ensure efficiency and consistency across the organization\n\n\n\n\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\n\n\n* Bachelorโs degree in industrial, mechanical, software, or other engineering discipline\n\n* 1+ years of experience in production engineering, manufacturing or industrial project management\n\n\n\n\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\n\n\n* High volume production experience (automotive or similar)\n\n* Competency with CAD programs (AutoCAD, Revit, Siemens NX, SketchUp, or similar)\n\n* Competency with SQL databases and ability to write SQL queries\n\n* Experience with and understanding of Lean principles, Six Sigma concepts and applications, creative problem solving and project management methodologies\n\n* Experience with web-based Python applications\n\n* Experience with discrete event modeling software, statistical analysis, or operations research fields\n\n* Experience developing custom software, ERP/MES systems, and dashboards\n\n* Excellent written and verbal communication skills\n\n* Experience analyzing large datasets and communicating conclusions\n\n* Experience supporting production start-up and production ramp periods\n\n* Able to contribute to and work well with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams\n\n* Ability to identify customer needs, gather requirements, and execute independently\n\n* Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high-stress, dynamic environment that includes working with changing needs and requirements\n\n* Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders in higher-level leadership\n\n* Master's degree in engineering or supply chain\n\n* Proficiency with statistics, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and visualization\n\n\n\n\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\n\n\n* Must be able to work extended hours, some nights and/or weekends when needed to meet major milestones\n\n* Must be able to travel - up to 5-10% travel may be required to visit other SpaceX facilities\n\n* This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered\n\n\n\n\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: \n\nPay range:\n\n\n* Operations Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year\n\n* Operations Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year\n\n\n\n\nYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.\n\nBase salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
