\n\nAbout Nomos\n\nNomos is a new blockchain designed from the ground up with the original cypherpunk ethos: decentralization, censorship resistance, permissionless-ness and privacy. It will serve as the trustless agreements layer of the Logos stack. The forthcoming Nomos network will provide a common infrastructure layer upon which communities and aspiring network states can build social, governance, and financial services that uphold their community membersโ fundamental rights and values.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nThis position is a hybrid engineering and applied research role. Primarily, as an engineer, you will contribute by implementing the specifications developed during research. As a researcher, you will contribute to the design of new protocol solutions. You will design, specify, verify and build distributed systems by leveraging formal and experimental techniques; build proof of concepts and prepare executable specifications for the development team.\n\nIt's expected you understand papers in depth and are able to take all necessary steps for their evaluation, adaptation and implementation. The project will expose you to the newest ideas and allow you to stay up-to-date with what is emerging in the space (blockchain, p2p networks, distributed systems, cryptography, Zero-Knowelde proofs, MPC, etc.). You will conduct theoretical and practical analysis of the performance of distributed systems and present research results.\n\nIdeally, you will have\n\n\n* Coding experience in Rust - this is a MUST-have requirement for this role!\n\n* Research experience in Distributed Systems, ideally byzantine settings.\n\n* Strong background in Computer Science and Math, or a related area.\n\n* Keen communicator, eager to share your work in a wide variety of contexts, like internal and public presentations.\n\n* Strong interest in privacy, censorship-resistant technology, open protocols.\n\n\n\n\nBonus points\n\n\n* Experience working for an open-source organization. \n\n* Knowledge of cryptography.\n\n* PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related area.\n\n* Solid knowledge of mathematics (probability and statistics are often use in our research)\n\n* Track record of scientific publications.\n\n\n\n\nHiring process\n\n* Interview with our People Ops team\n\n* Interview with a team member\n\n* Interview with a team member\n\n* Interview with Nomos Lead\n\n\n\n\nThe steps may change along the way if we see it makes sense to adapt the interview stages, so please consider the above as a guideline. \n\n\nCompensation\n\nThe expected compensation range for this role is negotiable, dependent on how we assess your skills and experience throughout our interview process.
