Remote, (UTC -8 to UTC +3) - C++ Data Proxy - Full-Time

You will be joining an early-stage startup and be part of theย founding engineering team. We are offeringย founding team equity for this role. As a Backend Software Engineer you will develop platforms, services and tools to tackle a variety of challenges related to caching, analytics, data distribution, machine learning, security and access control. You will have an opportunity to make key technical decisions which help define the future of the PolyScale platform, shaping how we build and scale.
Although this is a fully remote role, to ensure effective collaboration we can currently only accept candidates within timezones UTC -8 to UTC +3.
What you will be doing:
Developing the core underlying low latency, database C++ proxy services (built on Envoy) that powers a global, low latency data distribution platform
Contributing to all phases of software development including ideation, prototyping, design and production
Devise solutions to performance and scalability challenges as our customer demands grow
What you will bring along:
You have 2+ years of experience writing software professionally for distributed systems
Experience writing C++ shipping production code
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent experience in those fields.
Solid understanding of web service architecture, systems and how they fit together such as: http clients, DNS, load balancers, reverse proxies, CDNs, application servers, databases, and caches
Deep experience with database systems (SQL or NoSQL, e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDb etc)
Experience in designing and productionizing large-scale distributed systems using technologies like Kafka
Experience with caching strategies

As an early engineer, you will be a critical part of our companyโs product direction and have an opportunity to make key technical decisions which help define the future of the PolyScale platform, shaping how we build and scale.\n\n**What you will be doing:**\n\n* Own all web based properties of the PolyScale PaaS. Our platform is built for developers and we strive for excellence in every part of the customer journey and experience.\n* Build highly responsive web-based systems using React, extending into usage with popular frameworks such as Gatsby.js, Next.js etc, and backend code in TypeScript for applications that make up significant components of the PolyScale PaaS offering. These include the data intensive PolyScale UI, developer API's, PolyScale.io website and documentation sites.\n* Embracing an engineering artisan culture, and take pride to deliver well-designed APIs and frictionless user interfaces\n* Always be focusing on performance and latency. You are data driven, know how to test and measure and you know that DOM manipulation and bytes on the wire matter.\n* Learning and contributing to the broader product and architecture. PolyScale is a real-time data distribution platform at global scale that encompasses components written in C++ and Python, as well as TypeScript. You will have an opportunity to make key technical decisions which help define the future of the PolyScale platform, shaping how we build and scale.
