You can assess the appropriate level of design and research necessary to achieve your goals, with a plan to reach final deliverables. \n\n* Technical proficiency. Youโ€™ve used modern component-based design software (e.g., Figma and Adobe Creative suite) and tools like Miro to workshop concepts and drive alignment with remote stakeholders.\n\n* A robust portfolio. Teams upload their game film to our site, study it, and 'break it down' by adding text notes, ink telestrations, and tagged metadata.\n\nCoaches then share the edited segments of video with groups of players on their team. Athletes can consume the annotated video on their iOS and Android devices throughout the week in preparation for their next game. If an athlete notices a great play, he or she can highlight it to appear on a public profile for fans, parents, and recruiters to see. \n\n\nWhat do Front-end Designers do at Hudl?\n\nWe have a perfect place carved out for those people who live in a world between pure design and pure development. Front-end Designers are responsible for writing quality front-end code and keeping the visual bar high in our apps. They're constantly challenging us to keep our code and styles consistent using our internal UI pattern library.\n\nThey begin by assisting the user research process with coaches of all sports to understand latent needs beyond just the basics of what they say they want. It's important for our entire team to see and hear or themselves the problems facing our users. There’s no requirements doc handed down from on high.\n\nNext, they rough out concepts to test with other designers, developers, QA, and their project manager. They sketch, they mock, and they prototype the key interactions. And often, they throw big pieces out when it doesn't click in a user study.\n\nOnce the concepts do start clicking, Front-end Designers team up with a visual and/or interaction designer to that everything looks great and feels even better.\n\nBut, designers don’t stop after the first release. They work closely with PM’s as we roll-out improvements so that we can refine it as the product gets real-world use. We can selectively enable new features to small groups of coaches and athletes to validate that we’re on the right track.\n\nPractically, all this means you carry the squad with elegant front-end code and purposeful visual design. Those are the non-negotiable requirements. We also expect that you:\n\n\n* Excel in giving and receiving respectfully blunt feedback and critique.\n\n* Have strong beliefs, loosely held, about what’s best for the product.\n\n* Know how and when to tactfully say, “No.'\n\n* Are unafraid to make small, quick changes and launch them as experiments to validate your assumptions and opinions.\n\n* Think that great copywriting is an essential part of creating clear user interfaces.\n\n* Consciously choose the best medium and fidelity to convey your ideas at each stage of a project. In other words, you know the universe exists outside of Sublime Text and Photoshop.\n\n* Can tell the story of a product or service with sharp copy and crisp imagery—people get fired up after your presentations.\n\n\n\n\n\nTell me about the team I would work with (Team Sports).\n\nThe Team Sports tribe at Hudl is responsible for the first half of our company mission: “Help Coaches Win.” We are building tools that coaches can use to gain an edge on their opponents using a medley of video, annotations, and analytics.\n\nYou’ll work within one of the six squads that comprise the tribe: Mobile, Core, Recruit, Football, Basketball, and Conversion. Two more squads are on the way in 2015. Each squad includes one designer, one or two developers, a quality assurance analyst, and a project/product manager.\n\n\nHow should I apply? Any advice?\n\nSend us a cover letter that relates your experience to what you think we need here at Hudl. Be sure to include a link to your portfolio or, at the very least, links to pieces of your past work.\n\nWe place the majority of our evaluation on your portfolio. Make sure it’s up-to-date, hosted online, and includes descriptions of your specific role on each project. Bulleted lists don’t help as much as short stories about your process and what you learned. Treat your portfolio like a product itself and a reflection of your craft as a designer. Do that and you’ll have a great head start.\n\n\nTelecommuting\n\nWe love our remote workers. Currently, about 25% of our product team works remotely so we're set up really well for it. But we can only hire if you live/work in or are moving to California, Texas, New York, Massachusetts, Nebraska or the United Kingdom. We pay for travel back to HQ in Lincoln, NE office every 6-8 weeks.\n\n\nWe Know Titles Are Confusing. Here's a Comparison of Hudl's Design Openings:\n\nOn the Product Team, designers are responsible for three main things: visual design, interaction design, and front-end code. Here's how those responsibilities are shared across the three roles:\n\n\n* Product Designers do all three and typically work as the solo designer on a squad.\n\n* UI Designers own the visual and interaction design and often team up with another designer on a squad.\n\n* Front-end Designers handle front-end development along with visual design. They will also pair-up with another designer from time-to-time.\n\n\n\n\nOn the Marketing Team, we are also hiring Interactive Designers who design and build our public (non-app) website. They also promote the Hudl through regular print, email, and web campaigns. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Front End, Video, Travel, Marketing and Android jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $100,000/year\n

If an athlete notices a great play, he or she can highlight it to appear on a public profile for fans, parents, and recruiters to see.\n\n\nWhat do Product Designers do at Hudl?\n\nWe make the above process as headache-free as possible. We lead small, cross-functional teams in creating and shipping clear, delightful user experiences. Here’s how we do it.\n\nFirst, designers perform user research with coaches of all sports to understand latent needs beyond just the basics of what they say they want. Designers learnwhy first-hand. There’s no requirements doc handed down from on high. Next, they rough out concepts to test with developers, QA, and their project manager. They sketch, they mock, and they prototype the key interactions. And often, they throw big pieces out when it doesn't click in a user study.\n\nOnce the concepts do start clicking, Product Designers start crafting the interface first (HTML & CSS for web products, Interface Builder for iOS, etc.). They team up with a developer to improve the code and get it wired into the back-end systems. Finally, they ensure the visuals are consistent throughout and match our brand styles.\n\nBut, designers don’t stop after the first release. They work closely with PM’s as we roll-out improvements so that we can refine it as the product gets real-world use. We can selectively enable new features to small groups of coaches and athletes to validate that we’re on the right track.\n\nPractically, all this means you carry the squad with beautiful visual design, thoughtful interaction design and production-ready HTML and CSS (Sass, actually). Those are the non-negotiable requirements. We also expect that you:\n\n\n* Excel in giving and receiving respectfully blunt feedback and critique.\n\n* Have strong beliefs, loosely held, about what’s best for the product.\n\n* Understand that technical, business, and design constraints factor into every product decision.\n\n* Know how and when to tactfully say, “No.'\n\n* Are unafraid shipping small, quick experiments to validate your assumptions and opinions.\n\n* Think that great copywriting is an essential part of creating clear user interfaces.\n\n* Consciously choose the best medium and fidelity to convey your ideas at each stage of a project (not every project goes sketch, Photoshop, HTML).\n\n* Can tell the story of a product or service with sharp copy and crisp imagery—people get fired up after your presentations. \n\n\n\n\n\nTell me about the team I would work with (Team Sports).\n\nThe Team Sports tribe at Hudl is responsible for the first half of our company mission: “Help Coaches Win.” We are building tools that coaches can use to gain an edge on their opponents using a medley of video, annotations, and analytics.\n\nYou’ll work within one of the six squads that comprise the tribe: Mobile, Core, Recruit, Football, Basketball, and Conversion. Do you love building beautiful and intuitive interfaces? Love sports? Good. Because for you, there isnโ€™t a better front-end engineering job on the planet.\n\nHudl helps teams connect around the video and data they need to win with simple online software. Coaches and athletes love us because we make watching and analyzing video online so damn easy.\n\nYou...\n\nlive and breathe JavaScript. Node.js changed your life and you consider the languageโ€™s idiosyncrasies to be strengths, not weaknesses.\n\nbend webpages to your will. Your only restrictions are browser capabilities, CPU speeds, and time.\n\nknow your libraries and frameworks and justify using them. You read their source and can adapt them to your needs with plugins and extensions.\n\ncan bust out a webpage given anything from a hi-fi Photoshop mockup to a wireframe napkin sketch.\n\nmake webpage interactions silky smooth, and it pains you when other websites don't.\n\nknow that performance is equally as important as function and that a fast page load time is not enough. \n\n\nDo you love sports and technology? Good. Because for you, there isn’t a better PM job on the planet.\n\nHudl builds software that helps sports teams connect around the video and data they need to win. Coaches and athletes love us because we make watching and analyzing video on their phone, tablet, or browser so damn easy. We work with over 300,000 coaches and 1,000,000 athletes across 20 sports from Pop Warner to the pros.\n\nDominating this role means you:\n\n\n* Can motivate a hyper-talented squad of engineers to crank out awesome products.\n\n* Lead the team from start to finish - concepting, building, deploying, and learning from what just went out the door (often, start to finish is a matter of hours).\n\n* Aren't afraid to chip in with your strengths when deadlines are tight.\n\n* Can deftly scope a big, bold vision down to bite-sized work items and execute them.\n\n* Focus on product excellence almost as much as process excellence and can play a major role in user research, design brainstorming, and product decisions.\n\n* Are an agile/scrum/kanban/DevOps ninja with a sixth-sense when it comes to the right amount of process for a task.\n\n* Are passionate about cutting-edge approaches for building and maintaining highly-available, scalable cloud-based architectures.\n\n* Are known for supercharging the processes of the whole company by building top-notch tools for development, testing, and deployment.\n\n\n\n\nSome products we're working on now:\n\n\n* Two years into a transition from a Monolithic to Microservices architecture, we are focussing on adding new features to make distributed system programming easier. A recent feature addition enables durable asynchronous processing via RabbitMQ.\n\n* We are building out our automated regression suite of tools to make writing and maintaining tests for web, iOS and Android easier. In addition to frameworks we are writing tools to make running the suite or sub-sets of the suite easy, education and documentation so others can focus on authoring their own tests.\n\n* Using Chef to provision each of our server types. This effort will enable better auto-scaling of our application servers and position us to move from EC2-Classic to VPC.\n\n* Building out our Data Warehouse using S3, EMR, Hive and Spark to enable any Hudl employee to ask and answer questions across our various data sources. This includes application and server logs, SQL Server, MongoDB, ZenDesk, Jira, etc.\n\n* Today our application is within a single AWS region. We are preparing to enable multi-region deployments to ensure fast performance globally.\n\n\n\n\nWe\n\n\n* Believe culture matters more than anything else.\n\n* Are a team of nerds, designers, marketers and former jocks who love sports and tech.\n\n* Have a profitable, kick-ass product that is changing coaches’ and athletes’ lives.\n\n* Are as passionate about winning as the people we serve.\n\n* Want you to learn something every day.\n\n* Promise you’ll love coming to work every day.\n\n\n\n\nWorking with Us, You Can:\n\n\n* Enjoy an unlimited vacation policy.\n\n* Sleep soundly with our paid health insurance and retirement plans.\n\n* Get hooked up with free tickets to Div.
