Imagine what we’ll build together.\nAbout the Site Reliability Engineering Team\n\nThumbtack's Site Reliability Engineering team focuses on creating and maintaining a reliable, secure, and scalable platform vital for a seamless user experience. As a key contributor, you will design and support resilient systems, prioritizing high performance, availability, and throughput, with a focus on minimizing service disruptions, downtime, and latency. SRE impacts Thumbtack’s ecosystem across the entire stack, from linux systems to applications that drive the customer experience. Our work is high leverage impacting how Engineering, Applied Science, and many other teams deliver, run, and observe systems. \nThe Challenge\n\nThe Site Reliability team is responsible for a broad set of technologies and systems with expectations to collaborate across the business. We are expected to develop and enhance existing capabilities while ensuring scalability, reliability and resiliency of infrastructure and software. You’ll work with engineering teams ranging from product development, developer experience, and backend infrastructure to collaboratively build Thumbtack’s ecosystem of platform services that have the right impact at the right time. We are a tight-knit, intellectually curious team that is committed to improving Thumbtack and improving each other.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nData Scientists at Thumbtack are empowered early on to leverage their critical thinking, interpersonal, and technical skills to make a positive impact on the company. Data Scientist embed with product teams to support new product feature launches, study the economics of our massive and dynamic marketplace, and help inform strategy. As a Data Scientist, you’ll be the person responsible for all the analytical needs of an entire team of engineers, designers, and product/marketing managers -- helping empower the team and Thumbtack more broadly to build the best product, as quickly as possible.\n Responsibilities\n\n\n* Propose and conduct quantitative research into key user behaviors, product flows, and business trends; based on analysis and in collaboration with cross-functional partners, identify potential new opportunities and next steps for the product team\n\n* Design and analyze experiments and other tests for causal inference, in collaboration with engineers, applied scientist, and economists\n\n* Partner with product managers, engineers, etc. to help scope new features, e.g., scenario modeling for possible impact on key metrics, make recommendations on business logic of new features, etc.\n\n* Define and monitor key metrics; investigate changes in metrics and propose next steps\n\n* Develop topic area expertise, e.g., develop a deep understanding of how Thumbtack search works and interacts with other systems\n\n* Contribute to our team and company data culture through accessible data table design and maintenance\n\n* Collaborate with, mentor, and help recruit team members\n\n\n\nWhat you’ll need\n\nIf you don't think you meet all of the criteria below but still are interested in the job, please apply.
