We are looking for a full-time **Executive Director** to join us in building Plumia, an international organization that is working to build the first country on the internet by driving forward borderless projects and policy initiatives. \n\n\n**Background**\n\nPlumiaโ€™s mission is to help bring about a country on the internet for a borderless future.\n\nWhat is a country on the internet? We think about this as infrastructure for living anywhere -- alternatives to services that are typically provided by your nation-state. We want you to lead the effort to figure out what this means -- we are forging new territory and there are a lot of precedents we get to reset and definitions we will redefine.\n\nIn the short term, we are currently focused on supporting the eventual creation of a country on the internet by a) building a community of forward-thinking, nomadic entrepreneurs and builders, b) advancing policy projects that align with our goals and c) doing related research and advocacy work related to building a country for a borderless future.\n\nIn the next phase of development, Plumia will be taking steps to formally establish itself as an international NGO, set up the infrastructure to manage and govern itself, outline major policy / research initiatives to focus on, and create a strategy for engaging with existing nation-states.\n\n\n**Job overview**\n\ntl:dr this position is for dreamers and visionaries with the leadership skills and operational abilities to make things happen. \n\nYou will lead this project full-time as it moves forward into the next stage of development, establishing infrastructure and processes around governance and decision-making to drive the community forward in a meaningful direction. Being able to create strategy, build a team, lead a community, and execute plans is necessary to succeed.\n\nYou must be excited to reinvent the way the world works and elaborate on complex philosophical ideas that have plagued humanity for centuries. You must be able to harness the natural excitement and creativity of a grassroots group of forward thinkers that want to help Plumia succeed. \n\nThe main goals for the Executive Director of Plumia are the following:\n\n- Cultivate and manage our Plumia community and its moderators\n- Launch new Plumia initiatives while working with initiative owners to maintain existing ones\n- Set up a long-term governance structure for Plumia\n- Outline major policy / research initiatives to focus on\n- Facilitate the creation of the first country on the internet\n\nSome examples of initiatives you might oversee:\n- Building the online Plumia community on our Discord server and helping launch local chapters, and brainstorm how to solve current problems with traditional nation-states\n- Running events like a speaker series, global conference, and local meetups\n- Creating compelling materials to tell the story of Plumia to quickly get new community members and the public engaged in Plumia initiatives.\n- Leading research and advocacy projects on digital nomad and location independent topics\n- Enabling community-led policy projects, like the creation of a Digital Nomad Index\n- Gather research and make proposals about how an Internet country could work.\n- Develop relationships with existing governments and eventually work towards a county on the internet with a passport regime.\n\n**Qualifications:**\n\n- You have some experience leading, ideally also in government, non-profit or movement building\n- Outstanding leadership skills with ability to inspire others\n- You are intellectually curious, like to think about abstract topics and can construct a comprehensive strategy\n- You have the operational and logistical skills to create detailed plans and execute them to completion\n- Identify peopleโ€™s strengths to match them up to specific projects and help them be successful\n- Experience as a digital nomad or with remote work\n- You want to facilitate the creation of the first country on the internet\n- You think for yourself, have integrity and are optimistic and creative in the face of difficult challenges\n\n**Compensation**\n\nThis is a full-time position with a competitive salary based on experience & compensation at similar organizations.\n\n \n\nBe sure to mention the words **PYRAMID BAMBOO TICKET** when applying to show you read the job post completely. When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site.
