\nAt The Infatuation, weโre on a mission to create the most trustworthy and useful restaurant recommendation platform in the world. In October 2021, The Infatuation was acquired by JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the U.S. The acquisition affords us the funding of a major bank, as well as the distribution for The Infatuation to become a household name. With these new resources, we will be expanding and growing quickly, with the hopes of reaching a more expansive and diverse audience.\n\nWeโre looking for a new restaurant critic and writer in New York City. If youโre thinking, โwell, that sounds like a pretty great gig,โ weโd have to agree with you. In this full-time position, youโll spend your nights checking out as many restaurants as possible, and your days writing about them, alongside a talented, dedicated team of smart, funny people who love exploring this city.\n\nThere are a couple key things weโre looking for, in order of importance.\n\n\n* Youโre an exceptional, compelling writer. This is a writing job โ weโre looking for someone with a distinctive voice who feels comfortable writing in our talk-to-me-like-a-friend style.\n\n\n\n\n\n* You know NYC really, really well. Youโre not new to NYC and can talk about different neighborhoods with nuance, going well beyond the overplayed clichรฉs. Youโre interested in why people might eat in different restaurants, are curious about how people live their lives in the city, and feel comfortable making commentary about it all.\n\n\n\n\n\n* You love going out to eat and never get tired of it. This position is a writing job, but itโs also very much an eating job โ youโll get a $30,000 annual restaurant budget. If that sounds amazing rather than intimidating to you, letโs talk.\n\n\n\n\nThere are no strict requirements about previous work experience, but weโre looking for someone who can write quickly and efficiently without too much hand-holding, so weโd be eager to talk to experienced writers, reporters, and editors who are comfortable working on deadline. If youโre applying for this role, you should be based in NYC and comfortable working in an office in a hybrid capacity.
